  1. I agree as well. I think when everyone thinks of a chatter style bait they think it chatters across the top of the water. That's what I did. No it's more like a swimming jig that vibrates like a Rat'L Trap. I bought my first one day , actually I got the white/green Chatter Frog and caught a nice 21" LMB in clear water. He nailed it and a perfect hookset.
  2. Yeah I bought some on ebay earlier today I got the new smoke purple 12lb test. I got 1200 yrd spool for $ 9.95.
  3. Save money and time. Check out this website it's G-Man jigs that are very nice, effective and cheap, and he ships freakishly fast. No worries here. http://www.custombassfishinglures.com/ I would buy Watermelon, Brown Purple. Whatever color else. If you fishing dark water buy black/blue. I love the PB&J and Watermelon. G-Man has always hooked me up with his JIGs. They are quality. $ 2.25 for a wire tied jig that is very nice. I wouldn't even consider others. I heard evolution jigs were nice, but for 10 for two that's a little high for me. Good luck and go heavy braid 20lb plus.
  4. Me personally, ditch the over priced, overrated GYCB Senko,
  5. I recommend, www.acadiasports.com You can get any pole from 5' to 7' for $ 49.95 and it's buy one get one free. I have a 7' MH and I love it. I got a 6'6" MH and I also love it and it was free. Check em out.
  6. Have you had much luck with a yum dinger? I've never tried them before.
  7. Each of mine had good size around 2lbs, no big ones, but I do recomend the Ghost Minnow with a Red Blade. After I lost the d**n thing I went from a lot of hits down to one or two with the White Gold Blade. I don't know if its because of the Red Clacker, but it was money for me today. Great buy, just need to step it up to a bigger size. 1/8 oz too hard to cast far.
  8. I haven't caught a lot of bass on any buzzbaits, until now I used the Cavitron Ghost Minnow with a Red Blade, a true winner. I wouldn't buy another color. I had vicious hits after hits until I lost the d**n thing. Worth the money and can't wait to do it again.
  9. Well it all started after reading a 100 posts about cavitron buzzbaits. So I went on eBay and bid on a lot of 4 1/8oz different colors and shades. I won them for $12 bucks and received them yesterday. Pay attention to the one third from left, shad with red blade/red hook. Went out to my little pond here on base housing , first freaking cast nailed a nice one. Second after reading Catt's suggestion to use Red Shad in clear water, I tied on the biggest red shad worm I had and got this little dink. Then I was about to call it a day when I had a verious hit, check out the after photo of the buzzbait the bass almost destroyed it, he hit it so hard I thought it was at least a 5 lber. Ended up being 2lb But bent it 90 degrees. From the pic you can tell I add a little bit of a Zoom green pumpkin red finesse worm so I could get more distance and I think it actually helped. Thanks for the suggestions and don't hesitate on Cavitron !!
  10. Hah, my buddy found it up near the atlanta area in some woods, face down. He cleaned it up best he could and it floats!! The little jon boat fits perfect in the back of a F-150, and the small pond we are in has a no boating law. 1/3 of the pond you can fish the other 2/3s is a water hazard for the base golf course !!
  11. It's funny all of you all have commented on red shad. That big hoss, even though my buddy swears it was 12 lb bass, but I held that bass on a 3 dollar spring scale, and it was more around 8 lbs. But anyways it was caught on a red shad lizard. I deseperately want to catch some more hawgs. But this stuff is the thickest and nastiest I've ever seen, it comes back every year and I have no idea how to fish it, but I'll take everyones suggestions. I catch dinks all day on brush hogs and worms but want to find the big ones. Also you can see the small lizard used in the pic, they were on clearance at our BX here for a pack of 6 for a 1.99. They paid off sure. I'm going to take some pics of it out of water, please check back tomorrow and see the grass.
  12. Ok well congrats on fishing local tourneys and weighing in plenty of fish...? There's really nothing to prove on this website. And for the record I'm 6'5" 280lbs , I've weight plenty of fish and it looks like it might be around 3.5 the best way would have been a side shot for girth. That's why I told my buddy whenever I win the lottery I'll buy everyone that has a fishing pole a scale as well.. Take care, good luck, and relax, fishing is fun
  13. I see your a Rage Tail guy, I was rolling a watermelon Toad across this grass one day and I huge hit, but anyways Since the water is clear, what type of Jig colors should I use, I just bought some of G-Mans Jigs. I bought several different colors to try and for different situations. What would be best to try in this thick thick grass??
  14. Nice bass and sounds like a good day at work, I would say the fish is more around 2.5 to 3.5 lbs range. JMHO...
  15. My buddy caught this hoss in our pond on base here, what is the grass in the pictures included, the more help the better. We are in southern ga. Any suggestions on what type of water this is stained/clear and such. And what about the thick grass?? Thanks ahead of time
  16. So I guess you throw your 5oz swimbaits on a 6'6 Ugly Stick? ;D For the guy fishing open water frogs, you don't need as much beef, but a longer rod is still nice and gives you an advantage. Longer casts, and better hooksets on long casts with the longer rod. I only asked the question because I didn't really know the difference of why somone would buy seperate rods. I mainly bank fish so lugging a 7'6" pole is annoying. But I think I will up it to a 7' MH pole on 30 lb braid. Use it for froggin', buzzbaits, swimbaits, and everything else that needs that leverage. I'm a bigger guy at 6'5" 300 so the leverage I already have with a 6'6' is good. Thanks for everyone's response.
  17. Gotcha, I assume you fish it the same, jerking the frog back and forth, over lilly pads and such, the longer rod gives you more jerking power. Cool, I might look into that.
  18. When someone refers to fishing a jig, I think of a Strike King Denny Brauer Casting Jig, a hook with a lot of rubber skirts around it and hanging off ot it. Usually someone will attach a trailer to it. Makes it look like a crawfish. When everyone refers to a jig is that what they mean? Or are they talking a football jig, spot remover, shakey head style. I see the word jig used liberally. Just would like to know. Never had luck with a jig and trailer. Thanks Also I am thinking of ordering a couple Evolution Jigs? What colors does everyone recomend? Thanks
  19. Ok, I have no idea why people need a seperate rod let's say 7'6" for froggin. Why? What type of froggin are they talking about? I use a regular pole for fishin frogs. I guess I'm lost, any help??
  20. First of all, wow I fished the toad for the first time and I'm blown away. It's a like a little buzzbait tremendous action. Great , Great improvement over the Zoom Toad. Wow, had some vicious hits, no takers though. Second, when would you use the Shad? I'm interested when, where and how to fish this if any has had luck , please let me know, Thanks,
  21. I agree I'm about to get into pitching and flipping thinking about ordering their 7' and 7'6" rods. But I dont' know if I really want a 2pc rod or not or just wait for the others to come in stock.
  22. What's the difference if you buy the same stuff at Walmart as you would a Bass Pro? There is no difference. I agree, they sell the same stuff when it comes to tackle and such. Now the rod's and some reels even though they see top end Abu Garcia's there.
  23. I was just needing some help on fishing these. I know how to rig them backwards with the skirt up, but what fishing situations are ideal. What do these excel in? I fish a lot of ponds and small lakes, hopefully these will do good in those. Any help is appreciated.
  24. I have one and I think it's a great reel. It's smooth, and I also have the hybrid line installed. It makes a big difference. I have been able to cast quite a far ways with it, and relatively no backlash using the Infinite casting control feature. I wouldn't hesitate or you'll miss out on a deal, I should say steal!!!
  25. I am new into the baitcasters. I've had my Revo S for over a year and I need to grease and oil the reel. Where is this done at? I can take the side thing off, but I don't know where oil or grease needs to go? Don't want to add it in the wrong spots. Also the line winder, that moves back and forth on the back with gears, does that need grease as well? thanks for any help
