  1. Crestliner Could you elaborate on your wiggle rig? Specifically on where to get the spectastic cord and how long a piece you use? Thanks in advance reo
  2. I use gamakatsu drop shot/split shot hooks, size 1 and 1/0 Hope this helps reo
  3. I had this a few years ago. I beat it with exercises. Used the brace to help with the pain until the the exercises got things stretched out. I did not have to stop fishing but I was worried.
  4. I have used them and to me they do not seem any better than any other tube. A nice tube but the coffee thing thing may be a little over-rated, IMO, kinda like a grape flavored worm :
  5. Thank You I have heard this place mentioned more than any others and will be making resevations this week. If I may impose further: From what I have been able to gather there should be plenty of action within the bay during our trip (mid-May) but I have not seen a bunch on actual baits or techniques. I am thinking tubes, finnesse worms, stick worms, jerk baits?? Am I missing anything?? Will there any weed growth in mid-May yet?? Once again THANK YOU!! reo
  6. PA, near Erie, sorry
  7. Looking to do a long weekend the weekend before Memorial Day Weekend. Need ideas on lodging. Clean, cheap and as close to the ramps as possible. No pool, tennis court or even a bar is required. Safe and able to plug in charger is required. Thanks in advance reo
  8. Use a wireless mouse with batteries for deeper presentations and the wired ones for a shallow bite. Experiment the wire length for added action. Niether would be practical pulled through weeds as this should be an open water application, much like a crank bait. : Both come in many different colors now as well.
  9. I have used both and have been using green this year. I fish with the same guy 90% of the time and he uses clear. I cannot honestly say that I have noticed a difference. Just comfort level, meaning whatever you are comfortable with. We fish water that at times is VERY clear, still no noticeable difference. (to me)
  10. Thinking of getting mono in bulk spools as I change my line several times per season on several reels. I have not done so yet because of concerns about long term storage/shelf life, especially over the winter. Sooo, my question is how should one store their line for the long term? In a paper bag? Plastic? warm? cold? Hermeticly sealed on Funken Waggnel's porch?? Thanks in advance reo
  11. The bigger tires can be a good thing IMO. Why don't you look into raising the fenders??
  12. Exellent thread with some great info!! It would make a good sticky.
  13. Correct, just remove all hooks, snaps, etc fro the end of your line, let out most of the line, engage reel and let drag for a few minutes. Reel in and you are ready to get it twisted up again!
  14. Before you spend $50 that the bait monkey could get try a house hold fan under the cover. Be sure to open up your compartments and that there is good cross ventilation. I tow the boat without a cover and get the boat poured on occasionally. I have used this method with great results not only to generally dry it out but I no longer have mildew problems either. Hope this helps
  15. On Erie I use large split shot(s) crimped on the line below the hook. WAY cheaper than the special drop shot weights.
  16. Just what I am looking for. Thanks reo
  17. Can you guys recommend some reasonable clean accomodations in the area that are boat friendly? Gonna have to make a trip up there!! Thanks In Advance reo
  18. The weather in northern Ohio in late october is a total crapshoot. Could be sunny and 80 or 30 and snowing and these two extremes could be 48 hours apart. OR the weather pattern (whatever it is at the time) could be prolonged.
  19. I have done well in these areas already this year and have chalked it up to "just one of those days". Aggravating though as I have no excuses as it was a beautiful day with light winds but enough to move the boat and decent water clarity. Just couldn't figure them out. 24 pounds and fifth place. One hell of a fishery.
  20. Thanks, maybe next time :-?
  21. No, I was not in the western basin but the western end of the central basin. Why do you ask??
  22. Robo worms, dingers, goby imitataions (including gulp) and poorboys darters. Is there something else the I should have tried??
  23. Fished what is usually a great area today with what I though were perfect conditions. Tried tubes, drop shotting, jerks...... 6 to 20 feet of water......the fish did not like anything. Oh well Surface temp 63 degrees, light warm breeze Only managed 2 fish about 2 1/2 lbs each. :'(
  24. We get them on Erie and the other Great lakes but I have never seen them in water less then 45' (total depth) so it is not really a factor for my bass fishing. It can be seen on "regular" fish finders but any type of 'fish ID' feature must be disabled. Shows up fine on my eagle fish mark 480. I would guess that it is a factor for the California type lakes where you are taking bass in DEEP water. On Erie the water below the thermocline usually has very little O2.
  25. Shore opportunities are limited at best but there is a wall on the western end of Conneaut harbor that I have caught a couple off of but I would not count on any type of consistent action. Great smallie fishing in that area but you really need a boat. Sorry for the bad news reo
