  1. Got this surprise On Good Friday while steelhead fishing and got two more today on a different trib. Should be enough of them in to actually target by next weekend!! I finally smell spring!!
  2. YES PLEASE!!
  3. If I see someone hammering fish in an area with no above water indications of what is below and the next time I am fishing the area I go to that spot (because no one is on it) and find there is brush down there that is some how cheating?? Would it be different if it was a small patch of weeds?? or a small rock pile?? Sorry fellas but I am not getting the cheating or unsportsman like thing at all here?? I have found a number of spots like that and have found many by just fishing an area too. Of the ones that I found "on my own" how ever I am sure that others fish as well.

I also found it at Dicks
  5. Could be either one but our Lake Erie winters make it tough. The seven plus fish are already very old fish. I would als say that if it does not happen on erie in the next 5 yrs or so it is not going to as the full effect of the gobie on the bass size will have been realized.
  6. I am very happy with what I have BUT could do without the 4-5 month winter interruption. Thank goodness for bowhunting and our steelhead fishery.
  7. I now know that laying the fish on the boat carpet was not a good idea but it is a nice fish anyhow.
  8. "Will bass eat below them?" Either that or they can dig tunnels. ;D Yes they do eat below them. In fact I have seen them just watch a bait float by and once it hits the bottom get aggressive and attack the motionless bait just laying on the bottom. This, of course was from fish that were relatively close to the bottom to begin with.
  9. WOW, 20,000. Do you know how many times you have typed "Yo-Zuri Hybrid"??? Just kidding as I am now an ultra-soft convert 8-)
  10. Thanks for the replies. I will read the owners manual and unless they warn against it I will leave on between moves. Thanks again reo
  11. Going to put a fishfinder on the bow with the transducer on the trolling motor. My question is do I turn the unit off every time I move/pull the motor or is it OK to leave it on when running between spots? Thanks in advance reo
  12. Here in Ohio I have had great luck with small stuff, 2 1/2" tubes 1/16 or 1/8 inserts 3" trick sticks small rapala type stick baits and twister type grubs. For the plastics watermelon pumpkin and motor oil with white working on occasion too. Also have had some luck on really small white spinner baits. 6-7' L or ML spinning gear with 6lb line. Small floatable rivers in Ohio eat lures and lots of spare ammo is needed. Hope this helps reo
  13. People are really talking about steroids and everything that is wrong in baseball and some are leaving the sport as fans. Just because people are talking about him, doesn't necessarily make it a good thing. I kinda get what you are saying but not really a fair analogy, IMO. The troubles you speak of in baseball are of people trying to gain an unfair advantage by using performance enhancing substances (cheating) and then lying about it. Ike yells and screams and does other unorthodox things that some folks may find offensive, heck he may even have Demonstrations of domination over a smaller object/fish, but cheating and then lying about it (baseball guys) I don't think so. To some people he is a villain and to others hero. Just what every successful sport needs.
  14. I do not think that he is "over the top" I do think that he is great for the sport and that at least some of his antics have some element of theatrics. Was there this much talk on this site last year about the guy that did NOT win??
  15. Stop at an auto parts store and get a set of feeler gauges so you can check the gap. For less than $20 you will be able to put in new plugs every year or every other year. Read the owners manual and see how often they recommend. Also I am NOT a marine mechanic but I have been told that a steady diet of low RPM running is harder on plugs than normal running.
  16. Crestliner2008. thanks, i found about a four pager that ran several months and had the info that I was looking for.
  17. I have zero knowledge on blades other than I have heard they are effective on early season smallies in lake Erie, soooo, Could you elaborate on the blades? Size, color. make, type of retrieve? Thanks in advance reo
  18. I used to work at a battery company where we serviced industrial sized batteries (think batteries the size of a small car). We ground, buffed, burned and melted lead daily, then swept the mess up at the end of the day. We wore respirators most of the time. We also got blood tests for lead every three months. Even working in that environment my levels never went up. After moving to another career I had my blood tested again just to be sure and all was good. Bottom line, although some common sense is needed, especially for children, lead is not the boogy man that some make it out to be. Sleep well
  19. Here is a link to a great discussion on the subject http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1220207822 Hope it helps reo

Looking for ideas on how to store my hooks. 3 sizes of drop shot, 5 or 6 diferent types and sizes of worm hooks, whacky hooks. etc. I currently put the packages into a zip bag and am looking for ideas that others use. I have thought about a small plano type box with the different compartments but am worried that I will spill it in the rush to retie. Some one here has to have some better system. Thanks in advance. reo
  22. It is a tragety that some one lost their life but with 40 MPH SSW winds and 50 degree temps there should be NO ONE surprised that the ice became unstable and broke loose. They also needlessly endangered those who had to recue them.
  23. Shorts, flipflops, and a tshirt here. LOL That's just wrong
  24. 3 begrees BELOW Zero F. this morning in Cleveland. When I tried to "take a big sniff" my nose froze > :(
  25. I did a search on this sight and foud it (I should have done that to begin with) Thanks
