I have the internal antenna which never did work very well. I called Lowrance and they told me to send it back in as they had not experienced many problems. They said it was a bad head and sent me a new one FREEEEEEE! Hopefully the internal antenna will work beter this time but WOW what customer support. 8-)

Bad Language Translation???
I was in Shanghi China at a market the other day and the merchants were all over us, grabbing us trying to get us to buy. This got old so I wanted to know how to get them to leave us alone. I asked a local how to get them to stop and was advised to tell them ---BOOYAH--- After laughing, I asked what that translated to and was told it meant "I don't want it and get away." I wonder if Bill Dance knows he is selling a product that in Chineese means; BOOYAH = GET AWAY, I DON'T WANT IT? Booyah is a great lure company but got a laugh out of it anyway. 8-)

Roland Martin was using power pro.
That is one guy that I simply can't watch. I watch fishing shows to hopefully learn something useful. I already know how to put on sunscreen and put on a rainsuit so there are lots of better things to do with my time than watch his program.

Eagle/Lowrance Gets An Attaboy!!!
I purchased an Eagle 502c which is a sonar and gps in color. It quit receiving gps signals very well so when I called, they said to send it in. After almost one year of ownership of the unit they replaced it with a brand new unit free of charge, they even payed shipping. This is EXCELLENT service in my book. THANKS LOWRANCE, WELL DONE!!! 8-)

Big Industry News!!!
WOW- No I do not have the prospectus on the merger but will stand my my source as telling info for the truth and will gladly wait and see. What I did see was my first 300HP engine on a Nitro yesterday as I just got back in the U.S. Maybe they are everywhere but that was a first for me. What a boat. 8-)

Question Of The Day???
Why is it that if you want a monster bass in Florida you use a wild shiner. In Texas, especially Lake Fork, if you get caught using Live Bait you are some sort of a lower life form. Just curious what the forum thinks? Does it matter how you catch your trophy? Is there some sort of a code of honor with artificials that makes the catch better? 8-)

Big Industry News!!!
If this news is right or wrong it will not affect my paycheck 1 penny. Of course I did NOT talk to Johnny Morris but I have faith in my source and am simply forwarding my info as I have it. There is always a first time to hear news and if B.A.S.S. has to deny in the paper then in my book where there is smoke there is fire. Personally I do not care one way or the other, my friend in the tackle business was extremely happy about the news as he thought Johnny Morris would do a great job with B.A.S.S. as ESPN has messed it up. Wal-Mart getting out of the tackle business could raise his wholesale business 50% very quickly. This may not come to pass but I believe it will and was told to me as cutting edge news and we all know B.A.S.S. NEEDS a new direction. Some of the better fishing shows on TV are the BPS shows and maybe we can get some excellent programming out of this marraige. I am in Tokyo right now but will forward info as I get it. Lets all watch for news as we respool our reels getting ready for spring. 8-)

What do you eat?
I used to fish with a guy that ate sardines or vienna sausages. JUST HAD A BRAINSTORM--- New diet, send me only $19.95 per week and I will send you all the sardines you need for 3 rib sticking meals. You only eat sardines and you will either lose weight or lose friends--maybe both. Probably not like the Dan Marino "Improve your sex life diet." 8-)

HELP! I need a fishing simile
I think I read fishing simily not fishing smiley. 8-) Read this somewhere; Some fishermen fish their whole lives not realizing it is not really the fish they are after.

I signed up for Bassin from that Ebay deal -
I love the magazine and subscribed using the card insert where it was 5 issues for 1 penny. I have not received mine either but I suspect with only 8 issues per year I will receive the 1st one in spring.

Big Industry News!!!
NOTE: I did not say FLW is going away, I said the head of FLW is going to work for the Johnny Morris owned B.A.S.S. and Wal-mart is phasing out of the industry so I presume it will. You will just have to wait and see for your self as time will tell. As I said, I will accept "you had the inside scoop" at a later date. My information came from the owner of a major competitor in several markets and if you guys are at Fork during the big tournament you may meet him. You are not hurting my feelings one bit, I just thought you might like to know. Avid says he would not bet a nickle on it but this guy has already bet more money on it than most of us will ever see. This is not only true but made for a good thread also. 8-)

Big Industry News!!!
You guys can laugh all you want--just hide and watch and you will hear --the rest of the story. I will accept an "ok you were right" later. 8-)

Big Industry News!!!
While the other news is a done deal--remember you heard it here first--I am not 100% positive but if I heard correctly, without Wal-Mart the FLW is a thing of the past.

I have never built a rod but yours looks GREAT!!! Congratulations on a job well done. Now all that is left is to show us the bass photos caught on that new rod. WAY TO GO!!! 8-)

Northwest Corner of Lake?
Bass can tell differences as little as 1/10 of a degree change in water temperature. Blue Eye is correct about the N.W. corner of the lake being a good place to start to look for that warmer temp. This time of year bass WILL hunt out the warmest temperature in their portion of the lake if food and cover are available there. Of course bass do not get up in the morning, get a cup of coffee and watch CNN to see where the warm water is located so they will go to the warmest they can find locally. Maybe a warm rock or root wad on a sunny day, or along a shallow shoreline, normally on the north/northwest side. In cooler water a fast bussbait is probably a low percentage bait. If you have to fish topwater at least try a slow bait such as a popper or chugger. You would probably have better success in the cooler times of the day with a rouge or even a jig/pig. I have seen where I would catch either no fish or small fish and when I find water 1 or 2 degrees warmer it is like a whole new day with good action and bigger fish. Fishing is much like gambling, if you study the game and play the odds smartly, you will not always win but your odds increase significantly. Know the game and a winning consistancy follows, luck is too sporadic and can not be counted on. 8-)

come back lure
When fishing with a back boater we try to fish different baits and it is understood that if someone gets a fish on or has a miss the other cast as fast as possible to the spot. MANY times another bass will strike the second bait or the missed fish is still in the mood for lunch. If you are throwing a buzzbait I am assuming you are on top? If fishing alone I would have a Spook or Sammie that I could chuck out and twitch mainly in place. This has worked better for me than anything. 8-)

best spinner for smallies
If I am going to use a spinerbait I am assuming the fish are somewhat active and on an aggressive bite. For a bright day with stained or better water, I will start with a 1/2oz white head with white skirt and a few strands of red, and a silver willow leaf blade. On an overcast day or reduced water visibility I will start with a 1/2oz chartruse head, a chartruse and pumpkin skirt with a chartruse colorado blade, and a chartruse and pumpkin curley tail grub trailer. I call it my A&W SpinnerBait. On a clear bright day I may need to downsize and on a dark day I may need to throw a bigger bait. I have had good success with this formula and can't wait to try it again soon. 8-)

green pumpkin and watermelon
Those are two of my favorites in brighter water. I start by looking at the water color. If the water has a green tint I throw a Watermelon pepper(or red flake) and if it is stained with a brownish tint I start with a Pumpkin pepper. Of course you will have to zero in on exactly how the bass want it presented such as vertical, horizontal, fast, dead sticking, or twitched. In dark water whether dusk, nite, or just dirty water I will start with black/blue. If it is that dark though I will go to a noisy bait like a spinnerbait or crankbait.
