Berkley Gulp Saltwater in Freshwater?
Yup they work great! I personally like using DOA shrimp rigged tail first the bass love them I caught this little 2lb 12ounce beauty last weekend on one that I "customized" I left a clear silver glitter shrimp in a bag with some watermelon senkos and it absorbed the green and then I had the tail sittin on a red color worm and the tail soaked up the red it looked really cool and it worked

Unusual places you'd love to fish
Yeah all of the ponds I used to fish a few months back when I still had my job as a Surveyor, I had some of the BEST honey holes that I could ONLY access because I was "working" That was the only thing I miss about my job, my best fish came when I was "on the clock" ;D

Lake Trafford anyone???
Does anyone here ever fish lake Trafford in collier county,Fl ? It used to be a major hotspot years ago but had a big fish kill due to algae blooms. Iknow that they had spent a lot of moeny over the last decade restoring the lake and dredging the muck off the bottom. and they also stocked it with fingerling bass a few years ago to get the species going again, I was just wondering if it was worth it to try and fish it, but wanted to know if anyone could tell me firsthand how it had recovered.

looking for some advice
I was reading through the thread about lake classification and it got me thinking about my water and how I fish it. you guys are good, however I am not and I can not figure out where MY waters would fall in all that, Where I live the land was cleared in the late 50's and they created a series of canal systems with a few larger lakes here and there, I belive that the lakes were mostly pre-existing and they just shaped the shoreline to suit the design plan, but as far as I can tell most lakes appear to be just flat structure-less "plains" and I have yet to catch a fish in them nearly all my fish are caught in the canals themselves, the only fish I have down here are LMB, carp, gar, bluegill and chichlids. I guess my real question is how can better fish this type of systemthan I do now? there is not much structurre or features to the bottom of my water, I do okay fishing docks, shore line weeds and bridges but I feel I am missing out on some lunkers because I have a hard time relating tips and techniques that I read about because they reffer to "natural" lakes and mine are far from that. I have thought about planting some of my own structure in "secret" places but other than that I cant think of another way to target fish. right now I have most success on senkos and trick worms under docks and occasionally get bit on spinners and buzzbaits, sometimes shallow crank baits work. but for the most part I feel I am limited in where I can target fish. What do you guys think? Am I missing something or should I stick to what I am doing so far, I would like to get more numbers than I do now because I can go out all day on any given day and on average only boat 4 or 5 fish.

good case of bass thumb ;)
I went out on the kayak today for a few hours, and hauled a limit, actually six. now they werent the biggest but for just the 4 hours I was out I did fairly well, and those boogers had some teeth today and tore my thumb up good! I even had on e little one swallow my senko while I worked out a snag, and when I got him to the boat he was gut hooked and I had never been able to get hooks out when they were like that even after "learning" how to but I was patient and after a few minutes I got it out. I held my "patient" in the water for a second and he swam away. I was soo happy I did it right finally. but my favorite part of the day was figuring out a pattern, I have always had a hard time with it, but today I got it on, most of my fish came from a weightless "senko" but it only worked it I cast it so that it hit the sea wall, I am fishing 100'wide canals, I actually caught two on back to back casts! It was a good day today, and as I am about to get back to shore I had a small bass jump out of the water right next to me! If I had known he was coming I could have caught him mid-air he was so close It was an awesome day and I just wanted to share. Tight lines everyone

how important is the internet to you as a fishing resource
since I do nearly all my fishing alone, I get all my new tips and techniques online. so I would say that it is pretty important. It certainly has helped improve my numbers on the slower days.

Canal Issues
Did you fish for peacocks in So FL or S America? Both, there are peacocks in the miami/ft lauderdale area that the state introduced a few years ago.

Re: favorite bass angler
Bill Dance cracks me up and I have to appreciate Ike's spirit, I like him even more after watchin some of his shows (city limits) especially when he is NOT bass fishin he shuts up and listens to his guide, I think that it is very hard for some people to do that so he gets my respect. I dont really have a dislike : maybe roland martin never cared for him

BPS Extreme Reel Opinions..
I picked out thier BPS Extreme combo for 100 bucks a few weeks ago and I love it, I am a beginner myself and it has been a good reel to learn on, mine hass the flippin switch by the crank handle. like others have said for that price pick one up right away

How long does it take you to get ready?
For me it takes less than 5 minutes I opne the garage, pick up the kayak, rod, tackle box, vest and paddles and carry them 150 ft to the canal and put in the water.

How to set the hook on fish 1-5 feet away from shore.
X2....HARD over the head. Specially with a jig. And when you see the bass fly out of the water growing larger and larger, duck... been there done that ;D but yeah just set it high and fast and yank that fish out of the water. I was kayak fishing yesterday and there was a dink right next to me so just for kicks I slipped my zoom trick worm on his head and sure enough he bit so I yanked him out of the water before he knew what hit him. He was close enough that I could have leaned over and picked him up from where he was sitting. it was pretty cool to see actually. smallest fish of the day but the most fun because of the circumstances 8-)

gotta bad spool of power pro
It is just as good as when it first came out. It is the only line I like to use in heavy slop. I use 30-40# and cant remember ever braking off, even when I get hung up in tree cover really bad I usually just break whatever I am hooked into, not the line.
-
best casting line for a baitcaster?
I was using 40# power pro, and got tired of backlash on every 8-10 casts but it is strong as snot and that is why I used it. When it would birdnest the tangle usually just pulled right out without much fuss

best casting line for a baitcaster?
Okay guys, You pretty much made up my mind that it wasn't just me hating the line. At least I didnt pay too much for it. I was gonna give it a try for a bit and the try the BPS flouro if I coulndt get used to it, but now I think I am just going to switch asap.
-
best casting line for a baitcaster?
WOW thats funny, I just logged on to make this exact same question to you guys. I had been using power pro 40# for a while and wanted to try a flouro, so I got some berkley vanish 20# and I think I should have gone with a 10-14# because I am having some problems casting it without getting a bunch of overrun on nearly every cast. I got the 20# because I get into a lot of thick stuff and I think this is part of my problem. Does the thinner line retain less memory?

I beat the bait monkey!
you know 45% of all facts made up on the fly are 100% true 57% of the time Sir snook, yeah that is true with the backwards shrimp and we all know that fish like and easy meal, I dont ever really fish where there is noticable current so I always tail hook them. I have used the terror eyes but to not as much success as the shrimp.
-
I beat the bait monkey!
DOA shrimp work awesome for LM try it you wont be disappointed, and they are a much more durable plastic tham most freshwater lures. I rig the texas from the tail first, that way when you pop them off the bottom they tend to fall away from you and let you fish an area a bit slower. I am out of work and going to school so the bait money has had to work a bit harder lately;) I will take any victory over him I can get ;D

I beat the bait monkey!
It wasn't much but I won a $25 Bass pro gift card at their "members only" night I was hoping for the Kayak they were giving away, but I wont say no to $25 either. So I got the little guy a spiderman pole (which he is wearing out the living room with), a pack of DOA shrimp (I use them for bass), a Booyah Moon talker Black nickle colorado spinner, and a BPS 4X4 buzzbait! Cant beat free stuff

help with losing fish
HAHA sorry about that guys but yeah I am typically limited on where I can fish and usually carry all my gear by hand so I guess that I will a different line and a different rod I have a elcheapo spinning rod that is much softer so I will try it on that and see what happens. I am going to bass pro later tonight for their members only night, (trying to win a kayak) and I will pick up some of their flourocarbon for my baitcaster. Thanks for all your help guys 8-)

help with losing fish
Thanks for your input guys, I will try to change line and see if it helps, I like the braid around here though because we have a lot of weeds and snags and I dont lose ANY lures with the braid. Also I an fishing from a seawall that is anywhere from 3 to 8 feet tall so net isn't going to help a bit. but I will give the line a try;)

Senko vs. Zoom
there isn't a body of water where either a zoom trick worm or senko wouldn't produce. they are may top fall back baits.
