  1. No, I woulnd't eat anything out of these canals but here in cape coral we have the best of both worlds, we have MILES of fresh water canals/lakes, AND some of the best saltwater fishing around, it is a short trip to boca grand, as well as great fishing around sanibel/captiva/pine island/and matlache. My problem is NO BOAT :'( which is why I usually fish freshwater around my neighborhood.
  2. You got that right I will get her eventually. We went out today on Kayaks to fish a different canal system and did pretty good He caught 5 lmb on popper and the same diving crank that he caught the one last night on. I caught three today after some hard luck throwing a white/blue spinner, had only one fish hit it and two feet from the kayak he threw the lure, I also threw a topwater crank to no luck then I used a ten inch ribbon tail "senko" and caught two and after that caught one more on a little bitty diving crank. All in all we had a pretty good weekend, sorry no pics of todays outing cause I didn't take my phone.
  3. Beauties! Man I need to get hooked up in some snook!
  4. Went ou tonight with my brother in law and had a pretty good couple of hours. We hauled in 6 lmb, 1 alligator gar and two bream. Not bad considering we were fishing from the banks and bridges around here, in the pics his looks MUCH bigger but in reality I am a lot bigger than he is, I handled both fish and they were within a half pound, Mine was caught on a wacky rigged Watermelon red Senko, and his was caught on a firetiger bomber crank. When the bass hit his crank she INHALED the thing and it got caught in her gill plate so she bled out a bit but we were quick and careful with her release and she swam away strong. There was one bridge we fished where we saw a HUGE lmb, had to be pushing double digits easy, she wouldnt bite but kept swimming back and forth under the bridge, I will be going back for that pig. water was clear and only 5-6' deep
  5. those pics are sweet but you need to adjust your camera settings. Everytime I look at your pics it messes with my eyes!
  6. HOW could a couple of bass like those NOT get you motivated???
  7. Come over to the west coast (of Fl) that is all I catch during the week. Also as far as I know the Peacocks you have are somewhat of a fluke because they are ONLY in your neck of the woods. Here is some info from WIKI In 1984, Florida officials deliberately introduced butterfly peacock bass and speckled peacock bass to the southern region of that state.[1] There they prey on other non-native and invasive species such as the oscar, Midas cichlid, and the spotted tilapia. Also, their introduction now provides additional sport fishing opportunities for local anglers along with the common snook, largemouth bass and bluegill. While the butterfly peacock bass has flourished there, the speckled peacock bass has not. Therefore, it is now illegal to kill or possess speckled peacock bass in Florida. Because of their tropical origins, peacock bass cannot tolerate low water temperatures. This has prevented them from becoming abundant outside of Miami-Dade, Palm Beach, and Broward counties within the state of Florida.
  8. You guys make it sound like the LM from down here in Fl are some special breed that is harder to catch than fish from other areas. Now I may be ignorant on this ( Probably am) but the fish down here hit the same things ANY LM would hit. That said, I have fished a few farm ponds down here and they hit Senkos and Zoom trick worms just fine but they also like to hit on a DOA shrimp T-rigged tail first. Give it a try, it might be just the ticket for ya. 8-)
  9. Ha I fish the walmart spinners for that same reason myself, I dont really see the more expensive baits doing any better than these so when they get beat up I can just toss them out! I was fishing at 8:20 in the evening, it was just before total darkness, there was just a hint of light from the sun out. it is my favorite time to fish because down here in S. Florida it gets pretty darn hot during the day this time of year
  10. Nice fish bro! and you should frame that X-rap!
  11. Yeah I know, it wasn't mine but I removed it. I didn't realize that it was there till after I put the girl back in the water and reviewed the pic. On another note I caught her on a 1$ red Wally world spinnerbait ;D
  12. sorry for the bad picture but all I has was my phone, I don't usually catch picture worthy fish at this spot I also broke the tip of my rod off on her because I wasn't paying attention to it when I was pullin her up the seawall. :

Way to go guys, you have succeded at waking that bait monkey, and he is knocking at the door. ;D I like that Clackin rap a lot, can't wait to get my hands on one.
  14. Golf courses are some of the best fishin around, just be polite to anyone you may run into.
  15. I really cant fish deeper, the canals and lake that I fish are at MOST 10'-15' deep. But I'm persistent enough to not stop fishing, it just gets irritating. RW I'll check out that senko list
  16. hey thanks RW, I guess we all need to slow down a bit and get back to basics. Are the immitation senkos just as good, better or worse than GYCB senkos, do they have the same motion to them, and do they last any longer. I got so irritated with GYCB Senkos because it seemed that on every 4th or 5th cast the thing would fly off the hook from being torn up. Also this is just a side note but a good majority of the tips or articles I read about fishing cover or in certain water temps don't apply to my area. the canals and lakes that I fish dont really have major depth changes or structure like trees and stumps, and the water temps are always warm to hot. They do have lilies and hydrilla which usually produce well but alot of the tips relating to fishing structure or bass behavior in certain water temps don't really relate to here.
  17. You mean to tell me that there are time when it NOT that hot, down here in SW Fl those are the fishin conditions 10 months out of the year! ;D
  18. Well, the past week or two I have had NO luck. usually I can atleast catch two or three on most every outing, but lately it seem no matter what I throw I get skunked. even the trusty trick worm. what gives? we have been getting an enormous amount of rain and the canals I have been fishing are flowing pretty good, but I cant see this making such a huge difference. Help me out please. I'm stumped > How long have you guys ever gone with nothing??
  19. hey thats what I was looking for Reel Mechanic, thanks buddy thanks you guys
  20. no it is an old rod but I was hoping it would last till I had the coin to drop on the new combo I want. Well I guess I am going to have to make a trip to wally world to get a cheapo rod to get me by.
  21. I just broke the tip off one of my rods just halfway from the tip to the first eye. I was thinking of just trimming it to the first eye and putting a sealer on the end of it. Will this work or is it just a waste of time? how would it affect the performance of the rod? :-/
  22. Oh how true those big Florida lizzards don't play nice. especially when she has some of these little guys around.
  23. WoW I have been enlightened to the ways of the Bass. I know for a FACT that I will only catch 10lb+ bass from now on! ;D funny stuff man
  24. ....Note to self....Buy a scale for next time! : and as far a a job app. well lets just say we are so slow from the crappy economy that I am lucky just to have the job, although I do use fishin to take it off my mind.
  25. Well that was my point all along, it was a nice fish caught while "working"
