  1. dropping the rod lowers the angle of attack, helps to limit the jump.

  3. Welcome Aboard!

  5. Bravo Matty. I live in RI and I am aware of the j-hook laws in NY, they are there to protect the salmon from "snaggers". It's a good law that is strongly enforced,.......for the benefit of the fish and fisherman. Take it as a lesson and spread the word, now you know
  6. In this section (tackle), there are some topics up top that stay there the whole time. Those are "stickies". There is onew up there with a bunch of info about senkos.
  7. Yup,...they are the future and that's one of the main reason's we are a "family friendly" forum.
  8. Yea, I would never follow advice someone was giving to a specific person about a specific body and apply it to my lake, heck, I wouldn't attempt anything without proper state guidance. This issue touches many threads and although we all may know what we think is right, we are not professionals. I was hoping, as Mr Lusk is indeed the master of professionals regarding the subject, if we could get some input about the things they look at when assessing the status and population health of a lake. If we use these criteria to assess the lakes we fish, we can OFFER OUR FINDINGS to the appropriate state office(s) if we feel there is a need or an issue with a particular body of water. We are the grass roots, the eyes and ears. These are OUR treasures to protect.
  9. A great experience I'm sure Sam, good for you
  10. Nah, no worries bud, we missed ya though
  11. Good point sailor man. A couple more.... -Be very careful if using lures with treble hooks. One head shake while you are going for the lip and you could have 2 lbs of angry critter attached to you by sharp hooks, not fun. -ALWAYS have a good set of long nose pliers with you to expedite the "out of water" time and to assist with any mishaps or gut hooked fish. -When shore fishing, do not drag a fish to your feet (again, the slime coat issue). Lift and lip.
  12. It was great to meet you Paul, glad to see the local authorities didn't find you before you left ;D We'll have to lift a few this summer. Thanks for your support
  13. Hey Jim!!! Feel better soon buddy, we sure did miss ya Don't fret about typing, as long as we know you're here (do you remember me? I'm the short New England punk with the bright red boat.... )
  14. First off, welcome aboard and I apologize for not getting to meet you at Guntersville, I hear I really missed out. I was wondering if you could clarify a few things for me? Could you state what some of the criteria are for a lake or pond that could benefit from a selective harvest initiative? Perhaps some of the things that the pro's assess before implementing such action?
  15. I agree and well put WRB. I think the 2 crucial areas concerning the future of this sport are jr involvement and conservation. I'd like to class your line of thought under conservation.
  16. This is not a catch & release vs. keep your catch thread, keep it on topic please.
  17. Yea,...I figured that one out too,....they were Bass Bus stow-aways from Jersey. ;D (Ronnie,........ get better mileage on the way home??? :)
  18. Paul by "recognition", do you mean recognizing a weakness and learning it better or are ya just really good at accepting those trophies?? ;D
  19. Nope, you'll be fine as long as you send a chunk of that bad boy to... LBH ClubHouse 43 main st East Greenwich, RI 02818 ;D
