CAST For Kids ice out Fund raiser-reportback
Another cool point was that while the "no-goers" were on shore, we decided to pack the bass bus and hit Little Italy, "Federal Hill" in Providence. There's a sight, a camper downtown with a batch of anglers piling out and into the local eatery, lol. Angelo's will never be the same. As Muddy would say,....Atsa Nice ;D

lol,...he's got YOUR number Kent!! ;D I'll avoid the shot and assume you don't need anything from *** then either ;D

Dry Ice and Tubes?
and usually not necessary. IMO, it's not what is in the bed as much as what you do with it and how good you are at boat positioning and approach.
-
New senko rig.
I know it also "works" t-rigged but the design is made that way so both ends can wiggle. IMO, adding anything other than a small wacky hook, dead center, negates some of the action.

lipping or w/e its called a bass
C'mon Beast, you're gonna scare him!! lol....besides,...not everyone screams like gurly, uh, I mean,..Burley ;D To explain....the bass does not "bite" it's food. The rim of the mouth has a sandpaper feel. A bass "crushes" it's prey in it's throat with bone like plates. When reaching in deep to get a gut hook out, the muscles in the throat can contract and the plates put some pressure on the top and sides of your hand. If you are not "in the moment", it can surprise you and catch you off guard. It doesn't hurt, just surprises you and can trigger a "burly-like" reaction.

YUM Dingers?
What Brent is trying to tell you without sounding pushy is that if you click on the "***" banner here, you'll find a great senko replacement called the ***. You get 50 for 10 bucks Softer than a dinger but won't tear like a senko. Do they work? Click here and judge for yourself. This video was made in New England.

Perhaps you should read the whole thread before making such a comment. This is for the benefit of our new members who are looking for assistance. If you have an issue with me,...use your PM button. Brilliant observation and no, I'm not kidding. There are folks who will not help someone if they think they are just going to use the info to harvest fish. and yes, you too are invited to use the PM button if needed. Anyone else with nothing but an antagonistic response should also do the same please

What are your fishing STRENGTHS?
I have the opposite mind set. I already know that's a spot they will hold on, finding new ones by what you've just learned is much more of an accomplishment for me.

lipping or w/e its called a bass
A little further info. - When "Lipping" (yes, you used the correct term) a bass, you lip it and lift it straight out of the water, making sure the bass stays vertical. (up and down) like this - If you are going to turn the fish Horizontally, there is only 1 main thing to remember, SUPPORT THE WEIGHT by placing one hand under the belly or slightly behind the belly. Like this (notice placement of right hand) or like this Another key point. A fish's immune system is an "external" one. The slime on a fish is called the slime coat and is responsible for much of the bass's protection from bacteria, parasites, virus' etc. You want to handle a fish as little as possible and never "wipe" them with your hand or even worse, a rag. Before you let a fish go, place it in the water, supporting it by the lip and let it regain it's "breath" before you release it. She'll fight to get out of your grip,...that's a sign she's ready. A general rule of thumb here is, when you lift the fish out of the water, hold your breath. By the time you can't hold it any more, the fish should be back in the water. Hope this helps. Also....anyone have a pic of how NOT to hold a bass? I think this would also be very educational here.

Me either, .....this is NOT a "tear apart folks that keep their limit" thread, just an "awareness" thread for those who may not be aware of the perception. Please remember this in your reply if you have one. Thanks.

CAST For Kids ice out Fund raiser-reportback
What a huge success, yet again!!! A huge THANK YOU to ALL who came out to support our cause, you guys are die hard New Englanders and your dedication to the cause is inspiring. I word it this way because yesterday was true hell for anyone fishing. Sideways drizzle with a 25 mph wind in 35 degree air. FRIGID!!!!!! I'm talking BONE CHILLING raw. With this said, the turn-out was mind blowing. We had 30+ boats show up and launch. Many were there just to donate as after being on the water for an hour or two, the cozy couch was looking just too friendly on a dreary Sunday morning, lol. Many pulled early and hit the road looking for a way to start feeling their fingers again, most understandable, lol, but we very much appreciated your support and donations. Before I go further, I need to make a special thank you for the BR crew. BassResourcers showed up from surrounding states and as far away as New Jersey,....just to support us, you guys are the cream of the crop in my book. Alpster, Cigarlover, Stratosdadri, massholemike, D3,bass hole, bassectomy, tin,nathan_James, Matt 5.0, redsox640,bassnajr, etc, you guys are awesome and THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. A THANK YOU to Bill Decoteau and crew from THE BASS BUREAU for participating and traveling from Mass. to come film our event for Cox tv. As a rep for Marine USA, I'd also like to thank Bill for the coupons he gave out to the winners as well. Thank You also to the CORE of all we do,....THE BOAT CAPTAINS OF RI!! You guys are the guts of the operation, YOU are our community and YOU make what we do possible. Without you,....there is no C.A.S.T. And lastly, the people who make this day possible and the family that has made CAST a household name to RI club anglers,.....The Broggi family. Delainey, you're the bomb baby!!!! These kids are lucky to have folks like you in their state, THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS DAY POSSIBLE!!!!! So, although the weather was tough there WERE some fish caught, a couple big ones too! The winners were 2 board members, Nathan James and redsox!!!!!! What's cool is that these guys were TIN RAIDERS!!!!!! TIN2WIN!!!! Another cool thing is that Nathan is also a UPS driver with me and UPS is paying for this yrs event again so we can expect some more press for CAST because of this. EXCELLENT!! Nathan also has a newborn at home and is a fantastic friend to work side by side with, a real team player, this 1st place prize $$ could not have gone to a better, more deserving pair of guys. Here are a few pics from the day. Alpster and Tin MassHoleMike and Cigarlover Bassectomy and friends from the New England fishing forum Bill Decoteau of "The Bass Bureau" Our host Delainey and Dad Our winners, Nathan & Pete Lunker winner (4.8lbs) and the biggest winner of all,..... the CAST For Kids Foundation. Delainey and friends raised another $785 for the 2009 CAST event in RI. This money will make this event even better than years past. That's a tough goal to beat!! Delainey, there are no words left kiddo, we love what you do and we are grateful for all your efforts. THANK YOU EVERYBODY!!!!! -Russ Thetonia-Eastern Events Director-CFKF As a sidenote- I added Matt 5.0's name to the thank you's. Matt could not attend as his little guy was up all night sick and Matty pulled another all nighter with the little dude. Matt does alot for us throughout the yr. ALWAYS offering his time and assistance so it is only fitting that he get mentioned as I know his heart was there and his body would have been also if it was possible. I hope Ty is feeling better

Renting vs. Buying a House
$400 is a deal in your part of the country. I tune into those home flip show and first time home buyer shows and it never ceases to amaze me the prices houses are going for on the east and west coasts. Folks are paying $300 - 500k for what amount to old cracker boxes. For that amount of money here in the Midwest, you could buy the same house, along with a lake house and possibly have money left over to furnish both. It would be a steal if it were in a bad neighborhood. This is a 1865 house, beautiful detail and architecture, located in the historic district of the seaside village of East Greenwich. I'm about 300 yards from where my Whaler is docked also. ULTRA steal.

Dead fish avatars
With the spring influx of new members (welcome all!!), I've noticed a fair share of avatars with "prize catches". The sad thing is many of them are DEAD!! Just to give a quick education to those who may not realize it but folks here are kind of put off by those pics. Getting answers to your questions can be a bit more difficult when many of the top notch resource folks refuse to help anyone who is willing to kill bass. Now, I know the law allows you to do this and I'm not criticizing keeping your catch (within the laws), I'm just pointing out that "advertising" that this is how you roll, will very likely limit the help you receive.

New Jon Boat Hopefully
If you continue looking for a 10, you may want to eliminate the "partner". 2 people in a 10 is very tricky. It can get pretty ugly (like your avatar :-?,...that's one less breeder in your lake )

Sun Dolphin Pro 120 Jon Boat
Nah,...we're not calling you names man,lol we're an extra friendly bunch here, we are just point blank blatant about our opinions and suggestions, but they are all for you to take or leave As for the weight requirements, I don't know too many out there with jons that adhere to that recommendation. If you'd like, I can get you out on mine for a day and you can check it out for yourself, or just borrow it one afternoon. They are very stable and get more so when you add weight. I would suggest trying it before buying the other. If you decide to look for a jon in RI, let me know and I'll put the boys on alert (UPS driver). We are in the neighbothoods all day and see lots of these rigs. This is how I found mine, I had a bunch to choose from. Good luck and keep us posted on your decision and if you are satisfied or not.

Polishing aluminum boats.
3 words....MOTHERS ALUMINUM POLISH There is a sealer out there also too called "sharks skin? Seal skin?" It keeps the finish shiny, longer.

Carpet
I used an orbital sander w/ a 35 grit paper on it for the bulk removal of this stuff. Then What a nightmare, my knuckles will never be the same but in the end......it's all worth it. Now
