1964, 12' Jon Boat restoration
Hachie- seems like yrs ago, huh? How's the commander holding up? (we did our boats around the same time) Max- all materials are listed in beginning of thread. (interlux yacht paint from Jamestown distributors-local but they have an online store too) As for the sanding, any place that "shows"*, needs to be clean to the metal. I have since learned however that there are chemical strippers that work even better. I forget the name though.....CATT??? **shows= if you are adding floors like mine,....don't bother sanding the floor

Wooden Jon Boat
KBK- We are not trying to put you down,...not at all. In fact, I think it's really cool that someone your age is looking to himself to solve his problems,...with your own 2 hands and some hard work. Kudos. BUT This vessel you are aiming to build will not work for you and we'd hate to see you waste your time, effort and resources, let alone, possibly get hurt. Look around, collect more wood, get "enough" material for something we feel you'll be safer in. We want to guide you but it would be irresponsible of us to encourage you in this particular endeavor. You have a few real good resources here to help you when you do. i.e. Catt. That boat he showed takes craftsmanship and patience,....2 things neccessary for a quality build. Keep the faith,...go find more wood

***CAST ForKids Ice Out Tournament***
ok folks, it's that time again!! This is an open invite anyone who wants to come shake that cabin fever off and help a great cause, all in one shot. Delainey Broggi is hosting the 2nd annual CFK Ice Out Tourney at Roger Williams Park in Providence RI!! We had a great day last year, raising $1000 for the CAST program in RI. The support from our "out of state" and "New comer" BassResourcers was really special to me and it was great to have you guys to my home state. Hopefully, we can get to meet some of our new friends from Mass and Conn. this yr as well. I have room for 1 at my place if anyone is interested. I can sleep 2 more with an air mattress, first come, first serve. Craig,....bring some "breath rights" or duct tape,...either or. (the boy can snore! lol) All the money raised goes to the CAST program here in RI. With UPS helping out with the cost this year, some of the extra money will be used to make the day "better". Not bigger, just better. We are very comfortable with the size of the event as it is and will be looking to really make the day that much more special for the kids with more tackle, better goodies and some great surprises to make their day all it could possibly be. The rest of the money will also go to support our little side project we have started called "Alumni Day" where we take kids from the past events, every year, for another day of fishing but this time, we go to the state hatchery for a full day of Biology lessons, fishing and water safety. Our goal with this is to not only provide a yearly refresher course for everyone but to have the kids from previous events, eventually be a part of the events in yrs to come. We want to bring the program full circle. This money allows us the means to do so!! Again, on behalf of Delainey and myself, and all the kids you guys help out,....THANKS for your support and we'll be seeing you SOON!!! LAST YEARS EVENT TOURNAMENT RULES ELIGIBILITY: Open to all angelrs. Check in will be at launch site and will close 10 min. prior to launch. BOATS: Boats must meet U.S. Coast Guard safety standards.
