  1. But you're still catching!!! Why stop now?
  2. This just came up in another section so I thought I would also post it here. How can you "try" tournament fishing w/o having to petition to join a club, pay dues, etc??? Contact your local club presidents (Fed nation, Tbf, Aba, etc) and ask for a list of the fund raiser tourny's for the year. Not only will you be competing against a fair representation of the talent that is out there but your $$ will be going to a great cause. Just a suggestion
  3. Email your local Federation nation and TBF presidents and ask for a list of their fund raiser tourny's for the yr. Not only will you be fishing against the guys that do it all yr (good representation of a the competition) but your entry fees will go to a great cause.
  4. Thanks Catt. don't know how I missed that, I was on that exact same page, lol. Fingers crossed that I don't get a nasty call today, lol :-[
  5. PM "Alpster",....this is what he does for a living
  6. Not at all,...like I said, you have a good point
  7. IMO-Color is about as important for stripers as it is for LM,....Not very. The biggest factor for targeting tidal river schoolies is depth and feeding times. If the biters are around, it's a melee. If they are random, it's all about finding the column they are using and targeting it with the appropriate (depth) baits. Seriously, don't stress on color. whir/ red ot silv/blk are always good enough,.....if fished at the right depth.
  8. Nice catch FPB!!!! Now go back to the hotel and put it back on the fountain before they notice!! ;D Def check your local laws though. Corn AND chumming are illegal here. (trout water only I think but all states are different, worth a look)
  9. avid- Very funny-touche skillet- That's the misconception right there. I was thinking, Heck, I love a good tuna steak, if there's meat left over, I'll take it. What I didn't realize was that Bluefin and yellowfin are drastically different. Bluefin is ONLY used for sushi because it is Sooooo full of oil, via the fat. The more fat/oil, the better the grade. ALL MEANT TO BE EATEN RAW!! Other captains (who are evidently sushi lovers),...know this. I didn't.
  10. are those the ones that grunt? (another specie nicknamed "dogfish", it grunts,or barks, like a dog)
  11. -Make sure you bring close up pics of the graduated bank, many there may not have looked close enough to know it's a very safe gradient. - Also propose noone under 13 or so can use the area w/o an adult present. Like pool rules. If there is a community pool, point out that the pool is even more dangerous than the pond would be. (no sloped bank).
  12. And if it is a private area, you could only allow residents to fish it but then you have the issue of policing it. Just a few more things to discuss.
  13. Good point and point taken. I wasn't aware that you can separate (once in the store) which fish are farm raised and which aren't. Is there a way other than hoping the salesman is educated and has the integrity to not just tell you what you want to hear?
  14. I don't have water that is deeper than 25 feet so I am curious. When Vert jigging, do you mark the fish with electronics to learn what depth they are at and lower the jig to that zone or are you right on the bottom with it?
  15. ok, this keeps coming up guys so listen up. Gore-Tex is is merely an inner layer of a garment. It is the thickness of tissue paper. It has NOTHING to do with warmth. All it does is keeps water from getting in BUT let's sweat escape. (Although, that DOES greatly assist keeping warm, GT has NO insulating properties) Now, the garment you package it in is another story. Gore-tex garments can be any one of the many style jackets out there. It can be in a light, thin windbreaker (which makes for a garment that takes up 1/2 the space of frogg Toggs. i.e. The North Face "Venture"jacket mentioned above stows away in it's OWN LEFT POCKET) all the way to the other end of the spectrum with a 1 piece snowmobiling suit. Should you buy a garment like the snow suit, you are not getting the same "stow-ability" but you ARE still getting the same characteristics that Gore-tex provides,.....waterproof and breathable. My point is that a garment is not "stowable, lightweight, warm or windproof" because it has Gore-Tex. All this means is that it is waterproof and breathable. What makes it the cats meow is that before, to be truly waterproof, you needed a PVC based garment. Rubber. Well, rubber makes you sweat and certainly doesn't allow the sweat to wick away from the body. Once you are wet inside, you mind as well be naked. In some cases, you'd be better off naked! So #1. Gore-tex, when added as an inner layer to a garment, will provide you with the same 100% waterproofness of rubber but allows the moisture to exit. Everything the old stuff wasn't. And #2. Gore-tex can be manufactured to come in the form of an ultra thin sheet type material. This allows it to be used in lightweight garments, keeping them lightweight. Thusly, of course, it can also be used in insulated garments also. I hope this helps
  16. You still owe me a Lucky Craft for picking up that Letter Box.... Bwahahahahahahahhaaaaaa ;D ;D ;D I do, I do. :
  17. off the top of my head 1. There aren't enough GOOD places for kids these days. After school, etc,.....give them QUALITY choices. There are much WORSE things they could be doing. 2. Propose a "family or fathers day derby"-creating community bonding and association with each other. 3. Offer a trial basis as I am sure trash is their main concern. 4. Offer to be the liaison between the anglers and the board. You will attend every 3 rd meeting to address any concerns 5. refer to #1 and....WELCOME ABOARD!!!
  18. Well it IS Georgia,.....we know the fishing will suck.... : :
  19. X2, they aren't worth my keystrokes.
  20. Because cars don't catch fish!! BTW- Addiction IS a sickness
  21. Funny, I don't think it's the same fish but "Dogfish" is my answer too. They are a type of sand shark that love to ruin $70 Tuna leaders. Once they are in the area,.....move. This really sucks when you are on your secret numbers.
  22. ok, it's a Euphorbia Trigona. It also comes in a version that molts RED. Very cool. Below is a link with details Matt. Euphorbia Trigona--African Milk Tree
