Lake going downhill fast...
Cart, that's a good point but the weed program is there to accommodate the paddle boats. The paddle boats that rarely get rented. I would bet $$ that the revenue from tourny's ($175-$250 x 35 a pop) is greater than that of the paddle boats. Just a guess.

spinng reel question
By "hard on gear", I think they mean that he uses it EVERY day and ALL day, catching BIG fish that test a reels components. I am very abusive to my gear also and some things just don't hold up. Were they a value for the money? Sure, but that's not my primary pre-requisite. "Quality made",...TO ME,...is something that lasts Randall the whole season. Not 3,4 or 5 seasons, just 1, because that means I should be able to get 2 or 3 seasons out of it if he can get 1. It's all relative. I will say this,...if he says a few of them lasted only "weeks", I don't want anything to do with 'em. Taxing your gear, Randall style Now, I have a few pieces of gear that I swear by that many would say are junk. That's not going to stop me from using them. Again, it's all relative, if these reels are the cat's meow for you, that's all that matters.

Rod Transport (rod tubes)
I bought the Bazooka Pro, holds 12 rods and was CHEEEEEAP. I think it was $44. It locks, is lighter than PVC and is easy to carry with the handle/strap combo. (keep this in mind when it's time to walk through an airport with all your stuff) It's lightweight It locks Once you have one, you'll have it for the next trip also. It has plenty of room. Even if you take only 4 rods, get the big one, you pack clothing around and in between all your rods so they stays nice and safe. This also leaves room in your suitcase for more tackle!! ;D ;D

Lake going downhill fast...
It's not selfish. 35 boats, 25 times a season on 83 acres is too much. He never suggested only HIS club fish there but the parks could put limits on the number of tourny's and number of boats. First come, first serve. Tin2win is one of the youth who get involved in making our fishing areas better here in RI. Let's not cut down the kids that care, there are already too many that don't. I got calls about the fish/geese kill and it made my heart sink. Mike, I found out, is the one who informed the authorities. I think what he is asking is if the stuff used to control the weeds is capable of doing this (perhaps it was used during a time of yr when the fish can't take it ,low D.O.,etc) or is it more likely that another force is at work here. Only big fish were affected. Elderly? weaker? And the geese,....no visible wounds,.....sounds like a poison. If we don't ask questions and demand investigations as anglers, we are not being ambassador's of the sport. If there IS an issue, I don't want to see it showing up at the next lake over and so on. Boca- He's not easy to offend,.....we've tried, lol.

My Tierra((PICS))
I can't comment on th e carrot stix, I haven't used one yet Looking at the specs, they don't seem to be all that technique specific. Maybe the parabolic Casting rod but the others look they will fill more than one niche (or they would on my boat anyway) below is my Tierra on a custom rod from Flechero. This rod is also used for saltwater (hence the reel size) This is the one reel that I got to use this year that would score 10's across the board, I couldn't even scratch it! (and believe me, it got used)

Finally
Just starting up here. Noel is passing by out in the Atlantic, making for some foul weather along the shore here. Winds of 50mph/gusts to 70 and inshore seas to 7ft. Rains will increase as the day goes on with the brunt of it hitting around dinnertime. I bet the beaches are going to be full of surfers today. Friggin' northerners ;D Glad it has busted for you GW, time to go find 'em again. Will weather like that put your fish in predictable places or do you have to go hunt?

Foxboro MA BPS Update
GT- Nortthern Bass supply has bird lures. This is THE tackle shop for the northeast. I hope BPS doesn't put them out of biz, they have been serving New England well. They carry EVERYTHING. Cool set up too. They have 1 of everything on the wall. You walk around with an order slip and write down product #'s. Turn in the slip and they fill the order while you wait. They are in Brentwood,NH, just over the border from Mass. and also have a site http://www.northernbass.com/

Long lost Tuna pic found!!!
Reellife- They get a lot bigger than that!! slobs up to 1100 lbs have been taken off Stellwagen Bank. Jeremy- It depends, the come around in schools of similar size (not always, but often) That year, there were a lot of 500-800 lb butterballs. Nice plump, rockets. The yr after, the fish avg was larger but the fat contents weren't as good. Our avg would probably be similar to yours.

Shakespeare President II reel..Antique? Valueable?
Yea, Alan brought this when he came down to introduce himself to me at the NE PVA tournament. VERY COOL. The thing is mint and has all the goodies that came with it in the orig box with all the little cut out areas for the oil, wrench, etc. We were wondering if one of you guys would know if this reel is of any significant value to any collectors or if it is just a plain 'ol reel?

Any Cluster Headache sufferers out there?
Ugh. The Prednisone approach is classic for a Dr. not familiar with handling cluster. It's the first recommendation in the old journals and many still start there. Hopefully you'll give the oxygen a try. It is free and totally good for you. If you were my brother, I would insist that you demand him to prescribe it to you, just so you can see. I am able to stop approximately 80% of the night hits with it. It's simple. Wake up, notice that it is a shadow that woke you up, walk to the closet, turn on Oxy and breath for 5 minutes,....go to bed. All Better. Not to mention, it's free. 100%, zero, zippo As for my occurance rate, I have had yrs with 2 or 3 clusters and have also gone up to 3 yrs without one. My clusters can also range from 3 weeks to 20 weeks.
