  1. yup, they are "corralling" the bait into a pod and then rushing it. Sometimes, in saltwater, the typical plugs that SHOULD work, just won't get hit. In these cases, a streamer on a fly rod is almost a sure thjing. I've seen it tens of times, spinning gear folks that can't hook one, getting very frustrated, as I hit 1 after the other on the fly. I think the trick is getting just under the water, but not too deep, 6-10"'s max. I haven't tried yet but I could see a fluke doing well here too.
  2. Way to go Ben, you 2 timer, lol Guess who made the RI team? Yup, her. Hands off! > Catch 'em up! Make sure to use that new camera phone again!!
  3. Fish that size on top is what it's all about,....Whoooosh Cool lure, I think I would switch out the hooks for something a little bigger but those seemed to have worked just fine
  4. The putty IS compatible with aluminum but I would still go with the short bolt/nut/washer on each side, 3m 5200 suggestion. I've used this on quite a few rivets. The putty, once hardened, is not conducive to flexing surfaces. Seal eventually breaks, which is no big deal, throw some more putty in there, it's cheap enough, but I'd rather fix it once and forget it.
  5. Funny, funny thread but you guys forgot PEEING!!!! How many rods can you hold at once?
  6. 2am, first cast I backlash the baitcaster, forgot to reset the tension. Second cast....... 5.7 1/2 hr later 6.6lbs Ended up with a dozen or so fish including a 4.1. I ran solo this time and had myself a great morning. Another day with bigger fish, I think I'm really starting to figure this new lake out (same lake, drastic changes, fishes like a totally different place than the last 4-5 yrs)
  7. Current Meeting up at 2am tonight, on the water by 2:20. Off at 9ish for breakfast and to sleep a few hours and then continue to not get arrested by probably catching up on laundry. Weeeee, exciting. Memories July 4th video
  8. Reelmech will know this one, PM him if he doesn't see this.
  9. If that's a lone star, they are collectible. PM hachiesting06, he did a beautiful restore job on one right down to duplicating the original 50's logo. Decking should be kept on the floors with these boats. If anything, 1/2 a bow deck w/pedestal. DO not deck the whole thing from the seats up, very unstable. Floors are ok to deck though. Good luck with her. We may have to start an "antique Low budget boating" club, mine is a '64
  10. Coffee first,...THEN a buzzbait. ;)
  11. Didn't know about those, but we tried just about everything we could think of to get it out. Would those techniques work with a treble hook though? We tried something similar to one of those pics but the other parts of the treble hook would start stabbing him in a different part of the finger ;D Yes, works with trebles.
  12. Long story but in short- not dying but caustic in certain key areas. Things aren't what they once were but the problem was addressed and resolved so it's on it's way back. It's been a chore finding their new choices of real estate. It seems some of the "B-"- "C+" areas are turning into "A" areas. Some of the obvious hot areas were severely damaged but they are what they are and when the plant life gets better there, I'm sure they will return. for now, we are learning a new kind of diversity. They can run but they can only hide for so long and we're honing in
  13. I can post it, email me what we are saying, regarding the carp, is that they don't eat meat. Not even other fish, etc. They are the VEGETARIANS of the water.
  14. Awesome boat. Congrats! Good luck with her!
  15. Raul brings a good point to the table. I bought a Tierra in March and so far it has performed far past my expectations for the price point. I have had it in freshwater with a best so far of 5.4 and in saltwater with a best of 13-14 lbs (striper) As Raul pointed out however, I have only owned it a few months. As for durability, I CAN say this. It looks brand new and I've NEVER owned a reel for 2-3 months that still looked new. I thought the finish would be a quick one to show the wear but it has proven quite the opposite, bulletproof. It's not like it doesn't get used either, it is on my #1 set-up. Attention to detail is very nice with this reel too. So far it's a 10 in my book.
  16. lol, T-rig, TELL ME ABOUT IT!! For some reason, after being in the dark for a few hours, when the flash goes off, it makes me cross-eyed. I hesitated on posting that pic but the bass is just too purdy
  17. Have you tried any other brands of senko style worms? Seems the GYCB ones are the only ones with tearing issues. (please,...don't start, lol) I'm JUST SAYIN'
  18. 2x4's add a ton of weight, any option you have will likely be a better choice. 3/8 or 1/2 in is plenty as long as it is braced properly I use Interlux yacht paints. Not cheap but second to none.
  19. And it will have a much greater chance of biting in. It's called "scope" Never anchor off your stern, always off the bow. Drift anchors are different, they can be run off the side, weather permitting.
  20. For anyone else dealing with these types of issues, it is advised that you not return the afflicted fish back to the water. With this said, if you plan on calling DNR, plan also on saving that fish, they will surely ask you if you have it as they will want to autopsy it. I have brought 2 fish to the URI marine biologist and they have been very grateful. I also make sure my local contact at DNR knows that I dropped off a diseased fish with URI as the state lab and the college lab work together.
  21. I'm going to the PETA parade first, then off to Ballet class. Doh! I'M GOIN' FISHIN'!!!
  22. That would be me! I check the weather channels hourly report and if it says sun, I grab the gore-tex, if it calls for rain, I grab my shades. ;D ;D Gotta love the weather channel, lol.
  23. And your question is..........?
  24. Hmmmm Carp turned carnivore and 17lb bass in Ohio,...what's this world coming to?? :-?
  25. AT_ SEND VDEO! I will use it in the 10k member video. It will be a segment to represent yourself, sfc-al and all our military members. Send it on!
