  1. Jason, check out the pedestals on my boat, they are only 9". Perfect height. Not tippy and uncramps the legs.
  2. These were on my last saltwater boat. For anyone who fly fishes, these are a must. No more stripped line wrapping on cleats. (small pic below of "pop-up" cleat)
  3. Very nice winter fish G !!!!
  4. Never anchor off your stern. Couple waves over the back and life's a drag. Use bow eye. No need to add a cleat, just somthing to trip or catch somthing on. If you do, I suggest using "pop-up" cleats so you can retract them when not in use. The onlt time I would tie to the stern though might be to drop shot. Even then, that would be used as the second anchor, just to hold me over a specific spot. EVEN THEN, I would just tie it to the rear handle. Got one on each side already,...perfect. However, I very rarely anchor anymore. Drift sock tied to the oar lock receptor is the way to go IMO.
  5. lol, Don't be bummed if it doesn't stop right away, only if your house is on the passengers side of the truck. We will often go down one side and up the next, exiting out the passengers door. BTW-, shorty, if you can't respect the staff, you surely wouldn't think twice about sacrificing your charachter and insulting our members. That's just not how it is here. Nice knowing ya. Good luck with your camera.
  6. and the monkey begins to drool,...lol ;D
  7. Excellent texasbass!! I'll add you to the list. Another note- NBoucher just sent me a Pm, we will be landing at Dallas/ft worth at appx 11 am. Anyone else flying who may need a ride, lets get you booked on an EARLY flight so we can arrive around the same time. Art Pasley will be picking up myself, norman and cigarlover. We can squeeze 2 more in.

I'm offering to be your personal buck boy at fork. Whatever you need toted around, luggage, gear to the boat, whatever, if we catch you doing it alone, you'll be in trouble, that's what we are for. You don't sound like the type to over-do it or to not ask for help but I'm just putting it out there now, whatever you need. I carry stuff for a living, not an issue!
  9. Noone is out anything, that is what the insurance is for. That's why "Nikon" is taking care of it because it was over $1000 and INSURED. UPS will pay Nikon and Nikon will pay you. rest assured, a thief doesn't last long at UPS. Last incident we had, a lady was "over-labeling" dell computers to go to her cousins house. Dumb. they documented it and waited till she hit 50k worth and bagged her for all kinds of charges. Either way, on behalf of UPS, I apologize for the delay in you getting your camera. It IS covered and you will be reimbursed. On a happier note, I delivered a rod to a guy today, his wife bought it and he didn't know. Talk about pumped! I also had a girl ask me " Mom said you are one of santa's helpers, do you get to talk to him in person?" How cool.
  10. Holy Cow, that's awesome!!! Congrats!!!!!
  11. Bucket, you guys need to learn how to lighten up and have some fun,lol ;D Thanks for sharing, family fun and a dad that can drop the tough guy act is a real treat. One that wears a wreath for a hat, well he's just in it for the love, plain to see you have a great family life. Very fortunate! Merry Christmas to you and yours.
  12. Must be nice to not have to show a profit, lol. Jim- exactly as I figured, Somthing Basschaser mentioned that I need to reiterate on. UPS is big but DHL is HUGE. We don't notice them here in the states but overseas, they are everywhere. They are by far #1 for "international overnight" I know, I know, they don't have the bps or Cabelas account so you guys could care less, lol.
  13. Best time to come in. If you can handle those 2 months, the rest of the year is easy. I'm the guy that trains those guys, the "casuals" who come in "from the outside" meaning= non-teamsters who are hired for the xmas rush. In our contract, ups can keep 1 of those guys for every 5 part timers they move up to full time. In other words, your buddy knows somebody. Some of those guys turn out to be great drivers, some fail immediately but nothing is worse than the guy that stays and doesn't appreciate it. It's tough for some guys to hear him whine about the same job they had to load trucks at 3am for 7 yrs for. So it goes either way, but I'm their first "real world" training they see. I train for 2 of the 4 centers in the Providence hub. After the holidays, I won't be doing routes but taking the time to eliminate any bad habits they may have formed in their "rush" training during the holidays and to really pound in the basics. You'd be surprised, some people aren't even used to wearing a seatbelt, (don't get me going on that one, lol) nevermind clicking it 150-175 times a day. They learn fast.
  14. Dirk is a real tailgate-r. He has under 70k on his year and a half old truck and the lenses look like they were sandblasted. Will that stuff work on those? His wife called asking for stocking stuffer suggestions.
  15. Yes, we have about 250 routes with helpers this yr. Not mine though. I'm way deep in the sticks, a helper only saves time in the really tight stuff where I can go out one door and get #11 and he gets out the other and gets #12 and so on. My deliveries are mostly motorcross style driveways, a mile long and rutted. I love it. Deep woods, love it!
  16. Tom, That's funny, I did the same thing last Fri. I was backing in the driveway and "mom" came out to meet me. She had enough time to explain real quick before her daughter was at the truck too. So I started saying, I'm sorry, there's a 226 arcadia rd in Exeter too, these get mixed up all the time. I went back after she left with the daughter for dance class and proceeded to pack the shed w/ big "step 2" boxes. I left a note that said all in one long word Lookanextadajohnnydeere I went back yesterday with a lands end bag and there was a tin of cookies left for "the ups man" Thats what it's all about. People really appreciate it when you go the extra step to not foil their big plans for the holiday. Just takes a little thought. Many boxes don't have a pic on it of what's inside but some do. I'm always careful with the ones that do, to make sure there are no little eyes peering. I often go ring the bell first and wait till mom answers and give her the "you've got goodies" eyes and they usually know just what's up and will rush and tell you they will pop the garage door or whatever. Being sneaky like this brings me back to the days I used to HUNT for the xmas presents,...funny how tides turn over time. The sneakiness never goes away tho, lol.
  17. Rolo- I didn't lose that one, we were forced to put the boots to her and that straightened the hook More like letting it go,lol My buddy had a slob on at the same time and our fish were heading right for each other. No choice, he hadn't ever landed one yet. He had honors and right of way as far as I'm concerned. FC- Are you using saltwater boat rods fishing for 500+ lb fish? If so, I got somthing you might like. 80lb class stand up, short stroker-bent butt. It's the last tuna rod I have left and it needs a home. Do you ever fight them w/ stand up gear?
  18. We were told today thet we will be delivering till 8pm on Saturday. Fedex saturday air will go out as usual but don't plan on seeing any ground. Jim, Hope you ordered early! We will be delivering anything with an air service (1 day, 2day, 3day) and anything that looks like a present. Fedex, well, they'll be closed. Seriously guys, I don't take Jim's comments to heart. Sometimes , someone has been burnt by one company or another and choose to use the competitior, that's what a free society does. No biggee, but I'm just saying that Brown is getting it done. whether the other guys are or aren't, isn't really my concern. So in short. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
  19. LMAO,.....I'M BUILT FOR SPEED, NOT COMFORT! ;D
  20. Might want to check those numbers Jim. We outperform Fedex in every category. When it comes to "time in transit", we blow them away. If you think Fedex ground is reliable,...I guess we have different definitions of "reliable". These drivers don't HAVE to deliver your package today just because you paid for it. They are privately owned routes where the driver gets paid by the piece and he buys the truck and route outright. If he doesn't deliver it today, he just doesn't get paid for it today. If I don't deliver your package today that you paid to have delivered today,....I'm looking at discipline. But hey, free country right? If you have faith in a system and it has never let you down, why mess with it.
  21. Well, today is supposed to be our "Peak" day. Yesterday, our facility processed and delivered almost 261,000 packages. Providence is a "hub" but not a major one like Memphis or Atlanta so this is extremely impressive. Kudos are flying towards Prov as we overcame a wave that we were not prepared for. Sometimes us Teamsters aren't so bad, especially when you're waiting for your "tickle me Elmo" or your newe "PSIII". Yesterday, we got it done, expect the same today. PS- ALL bps and Cabelas packages recieve special treatment, at least on my truck. I delivered 6 rod tubes yesterday, a record for me. Made for a few goodd conversations and I wouldn't be surprised if we see a fewq new members from RI. Merry Christmas everyone, I hope everything gets there on time but rest assured, we are working our tails off to bring xmas to you in a timely manner.
  22. Loomis GLX w/ stella $900 Stren 10 lb test $ 8 Fishing hat $ 14 Putting a weight on the one that got away...........PRICELESS
  23. Very nice!! The only carp I have caught on the fly was during the mulberry hatch when they are very easy to fool. Great job!
  24. Wow, I'm jealous. That's a trip I really wish I could have been on. Knowledge, personality and a free dinner. Top notch. Avid, you really get around! lol Brush- if you like those, try somthing "fitted", with gore-tex and you'll want to sleep on your front lawn during the next storm, lol. Toggs work and are reasonably priced but they have their drawbacks. Way too baggy, no "bib" effect (rain down back, etc) They don't offer much wind protection either. For a hair mopre money, look into a gore-tex bib w/ jacket. JMO
