  1. Mike- Throw up a pic of the whole team if you could please.
  2. Everybody, please welcome a good friend of mine to the board, Stratosdadri Mike is the Youth Director for the RI BASS FEDERATION Youth. Mike showed me through example how awesome this program can be when the director puts as much into it as Mike does. Meet any of the kids and you'll see that it's not in vain. Fantastic group!! Mike and his team have been one of, if not THE main influence that made the Providence CAST event a success. Through this, we have established a great friendship and I wanted you guys to show him one of the warm BR welcome's we are known for. Yet another fantastic addition and resource to our online community. [move] WELCOME ABOARD MIKE!![/move]
  3. Avid, When you get a rough idea of the number for each night, pick the largest number and give Linda at Fishermans cove marina a call and just reconfirm with her which nights the plans are for, how many people and roughly the time frame. Thank you. The place we will be eating in is a big wooden building with a big bar at one end with retauraunt kitchen behind it, a big dance floor and stage ( they do karaoke often) and a big game room attached to that. The pics online don't do it justice sizewise. it's pretty big. Booths, tables, etc. It is also directly attached to the hotel wing with the office in the middle.
  4. I saw that coming,... Mike,.........now ya know. NEVER underestimate Ronnie!! I can't wait!!!!!
  5. Avid, you're doing a great job, thanks from all of us. I will be at every meal,...count on it. I am flying so I won't be cooking anything but if I can assist in helping anyone with the cost, just holler. A key point about this social affair also is to share our knowledge from the day. Even if you plan on making your own plan for dinner, still be sure to come by around 7 and pick or nibble and get in on the knowledge pool for the day. Sharing is everything, it's what BR is about. Between ALL of us, surely SOMEONE will find a fish, lol.
  6. I got a few PM's from some NY members and I'm going to answer everything here. What we mainly need is a host. The host is like the chairman of the board. He sets up a committee of 3-8 people. CAST has a guide for the committee to follow that leaves NOTHING out. It explains every step and where you should be according to your planning timeline. Things like Food, entertainment, grounds, boat captains, fund raising. The fund raising involved is roughly $2500 to hold a 40 kid event. Wal-Mart donates $1k to just about every event so that's almost 1/2 the money in one shot. The rest comes from Banks, insurance companies, bass clubs, etc, wherever your people can raise it from. The kids come from local agencies like make-a- wish, etc. The volunteers, well they come from EVERYWHERE and will beg you to help again next year. At first glance, this seems a bit toverwhelming but I speak from experience when I say, it's alot of phone calls, alot of drop-ins and a TON of smiles. The hard work really doesn't seem so hard once you do it and especially after you experience the day. I found myself planning my 2007 event the very next day. This year it is going to be sooo much easier. People are jumping to be a part of ity now that we are established in the area. Getting the 1st one is the goal, the future builds itself after that. Anyone who holds an event under me will also recieve additional help. I made some key contacts this year and their organizations are willing to come help with your event also. If you really want to do this, we'll talk. Those of you who aren't up to being a host but would like to volunteer your time can go to the website and look up the list of events. If there is one near you, let me know and i will put you in touch with the host. Hope I didn't leave anything out, I appreciate the interest and thanks for your ear.
  7. As Muddy would say.......... Thanks Craig. You can refer anyone interested to www.castforkids.org for more info or pass along this number. 1-401-743-2222 THANK YOU!!!
  8. That would be excellent Craig, thanks. Also, we have 0 events in Fla. I'd like to change that also!
  9. I am VERY happy to announce that Mike D. from Lunkerville has offered to get involved and help spread the word. Lunkerville has offered to..... Do a special show of a CAST event. Do a mini segment specifically about CAST for the water channel, independent of Lunkerville. Do a show on me in RI which will include lots of BR and CAST discussion. Help find me a host in NY!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WE NEED A NY HOST!!!!!! I have been wanting to get an event in NY since I started with CAST. Lots of great folks in NY and lots who fish so lets cross our fingers and hope we can establish somthing this year. ANY NEW YORKERS WANT TO STEP UP? A special "THANK YOU" to Mike D. for his commitment to our sport and for his commitment to the kids. Mike, we won't let you down and you will not be sorry. THANKS!!!!
  10. We gotta start a club! This fall I sent a Kistler magnesium to the bottom the exact same way but the kicker is that it had about 100 casts on it. heliums float, magnesiums don't,lol lesson learned.
  11. Yes. All people doing a dinner should contact Avid via PM and set up which night. We are now accepting reservations... ;D Table for 2 waterfront please
  12. unless you're the UPS man, lol I'm seeing boxes in my sleep! It's 7:39 and I'm on my lunch break till 8:20. 9 more days of delivery..... MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!!! And remember,...1-800-fedex ;D
  13. Who said that? (turning head side to side)
  14. Well, lets see who is bringing what. If I remember correctly, Matt_fly is doing brisket with all the fixins RW is doing bar-b-que? Don't remember Muddy has the Italian feast. That sounds like a full dinner, 3 seperate nights. SO YOU KNOW AVID is taking care of tracking logistics and keeping a calendar of the week. Lets get this resolved and he can post info for the dinners. Figure we could plan to meet for dinners at 7pm?
  15. schoolies or cows?? For stripers under 20 lbs or so, spinning, I use the BPS inshore rods. Cheap and they get it done. The rod fishes much like the extremes but with more backbone. Not very eye appealing but....... They work I have 2 with Pflueger Presidents and 2 with Penn 706's. Both work but the Penn's can handle the salt much better.
  16. No fastening, no need. They lift right out for easy cleaning and winter storage.
  17. Super charger in an H2? You're not a big fan of "turning" I assume. lol I test drove the H2, you need a plan just to change lanes. Hated it. In the H3, the wind noise was so bad I couldn't hear myself think. (Red Rob- way to be a good sport, thanks from the mods )
  18. Most Excellent!! :
  19. ;D"Let's root,root,root, for the hooooome teeeam...." ;D
  20. Shoot,...we're ALL rich. Everyone here owns a computer. Based on avg income of every human alive, I think we are all pretty rich. Then there's family friends, and fish that we have caught or one day will. Don't feel rich yet? As for being good looking,...you guys are on your own, I can't work miracles, lmao (and you guys thought Avids pics were always dark by accident,.....lol....mod with photoshop in the house) (edited for your viewing protection, lol)
  21. I thought you were a pro if you had a shirt with a bunch of patches, get 20 % off your rods and had a post in "resumes" about sposurships,no? Is it about how many girls want to pet your boat? How about if I have a nitro sticker on my truck? Maaaan,...I'm NEVER gonna get outta this darn brown truck. ;D On a real note, great topic. CATT- I feel your pain, when I was competing in moguls "A" , I was at an amatuer competition in VT called the Bear Mtn Mogul challenge", a yearly event and big spring party. I had a good chance to take it the year before I made pro and the entry form stated, NO U.S. PRO'S 1st and 3rd were won by Canadian Development team members ( pool for olympic team)
  22. How cool is this? Welcome aboard Doug!! Bass beware, the proffesor is here.
  23. Ron, you could probably appreciate the program Fluke has. When it comes to Fork, it was a well documented flooding. The maps are so chock full of "previous" detail, it's over-whelming to a UPS driver who knows how to use a good street map like noone else but when it comes to this thing,...geeez! The program Fluke has puts actual pictures to what the map is showing you as it was well photographed before, during and after flooding. Holding tanks, buildings, bridges, roads, fences.......LOADED Take the blue road up a little ways and turn down- now that's a classic
  24. Avid, that's what I'm saying. This is deep on private land. He is on the OUTSIDE of the fence. Land slopes behind and off into thick woods. My neighbor, an avid hunter said it has to be an escaped pet of sorts. He said there was a guy in West Greenwich that had a herd of 20 or so but none where albino.
