  1. Am I missing something here? I have been using fiberglass resin to seal my baits. (the proto types) So far, no sealing issues. It just seems Devcon is so much more expensive than glass resin so why is it the staple of most of the builders? I mean, I could do hundreds of lures with a $9 can of glass resin. I have a 5 gall drum of the stuff from the car audio days so it was a natural choice for me. Someone please educate me!! Thanks
  2. That bucket would cost you about $10 at a bait shop up here, nice resource you got there. The spots are a parasite that is harmless to the fish,.....but can cause warts when in contact with human skin. j/k,..they're harmless
  3. C'mon guys, let's see your work areas. I'll be making a few lures tomorrow so I'll take a few pics of mine too, but I can tell you now,....I'm no "Alpster",lmao. Quite the opposite actually.
  4. Living 60 miles from a town with store other than a local general merchandise store, so you take what you can get when you can get it. Especially wth todays gas prices. In due time there will be some darker, rocks and some fake weeds but for now he/ she is fine. She swims up to the side of the tank whenever someone approches it, its not like she sees a shadow and scatters and trys to hide. She loves the attention. No,...it's starving and has associated your approach with "food". Put it in it's natural environment and see which of us is right. I'm thinking it won't hang around at your ankles waiting for more "attention". I hate being hard on someone but you clearly haven't taken the time to educate yourself on this subject yet have gone ahead and harvested a wild game fish anyway. To me, that's just irresponsible. There are scenarios/situations where bass are fine in captivity, yours is not one of them.
  5. It's not what "would" it be,...it's what WILL it be? 15" Working Girl Homemade version of a slammer but with different tails (Rat, flashabou, fish) Color-Wood,lol (no, not kidding, video coming soon)
  6. What a cool experience but I know it can be discouraging when it's tough to get a guest on a fish. All involved are experienced fishermen though and when that's the case, it is what it is, fishin'. It will always beat sitting on the couch. GEtting to do it with a guy like Ike is even better. Cool pics
  7. Cool, get used to it though, you'll be doing it often. That fish needs 2/3 it's body weight/ day. I personally, could.t afford it. Good point Bizz, but only 1 of about 10 that have been covered on the topic repeatedly. Plase read up before harvesting a wild gamefish. There are state laws, possible disease factors when you release it after realizing you really can't afford to feed it enough, and numerous other factors involved. There are fish farms that produce beautiful pets, please leave the wild ones where they are.
  8. a couple tips taken from mountain tops across the globe. -Gore-Tex Gore-Tex Gore-Tex Can't say it enough, spend the money, you will never regret it. - #1 enemy to cold feet is multiple pairs of cotton socks and #2 is a single pair of cotton socks. A worsted wool/silk blend is where it's at. NO COTTON! It's basically a rag that soaks up the moisture (sweat) Even a Gore-tex enhanced shoe cannot pull moisture from cotton. The perspiration gets cold and the party is over, cold feet, no return. - Wicking fabrics are necessary for the most eficient layering -Keep some heat packs in your box. -HATS help retain a huge amount of heat. In turn, no hat, huge amounts lost. -A mitten, as opposed to a glove, is the warmer option. Something to keep in mind if you only use them while running w/ the big motor. -The neck is a vulnerable place to lose heat as all blood runs close to the surface entering and exiting the head through the Juglar and Carotid. Neck gators or turtle necks are a big help here and keep wind from getting in. - Speaking of wind getting in,...BIBS instead of shell pants during the colder seasons. Bibs keep your lower back toasty and prevent drafts. -
  9. I'm mostly curious about some of the turning and drying set ups you guys have but figured it would be a cool thread to see the whole work shop where you guys work your magic. A few close ups of motors (for turning and drying) would still be great though I'm looking to turn slammer type baits for cheap cheap. So let's see your stuff!!
  10. Totally!! Looks great Eddie, have fun on vaca!!
  11. It's not as easy as you think. All WR fish get subjected to a wide regimen of testing. The fish is autopsied and they can even tell what Ph it lived in. It better be the same as the Ph in the body you said you caught it in. Just an example, fraud is no joke when you are talking about this may zero's on a possible payout. A WR is a mark of integrity, cheaters will be subject to the wrath of Karma!!! Back to the original question, if you already have sponsors, there may be "record" clauses in your contract. Anyone fishing for a living should have these clauses included in ALL contracts.
  12. I have a box full of them. A GREAT twitch bait. Just get it as far away as possible and twitch it, leaving it where it is. Very cheap and worth every penny. Hooks need to be switched out. Avoid the smaller size ones, they are not the same, the hook is on the wrong side.
  13. No fish on any of those rods??.....you rookie ;D Glad you got the main stuff back, good news
  14. Jeff Foxworthy just grabbed his pad and pen...... ;D Sounds like you were in the zone man. Next time, bring a friend and you guys can drag the couch down to the dock and really go all out!!! Honey bring me a beer!! Life is good
  15. Whats up DH?? Last I remember, you were doing barrel rolls with bull dozers,lol.........no,...seriously. Hows the shoulder, all healed up? Glad you're back in the game man
  16. I saw the original story, but not the recovery one,...link? If none, did you get most of the stuff, just rods/reels,all of them?? etc Good news either way, I'm just curious
  17. It's a small state but big enough to fill a bunch of #1 seats evidentally 8-) 8-)
  18. Of course you were missed bro but you got my phone message this morning,...couldn't be happier for you man, live it up, you've earned it!! If you guys haven't noticed, Tin hasn't been around. He's been putting in the hours with a ceretain New England Veteran and it looks like all the studying paid off. See kids?......Stay on schools and do your homework and it will all pay off,....(did I say that right?...yup, I did lol) Way to represent man,....Heavy high 5 btw- while you were away, I had your back, Lowell planted one on D. Taking a pic for the FLW, on 3, he turned and stuck her right on the lips. (I thought big brother would want to know, lmao)
  19. lol, I hear you. At the golf course near my house (on the ocean), a guy went in to the water (essentially a marsh/bog in a cove) to shag hooked golf balls at low tide and sank to his waist. The fire dept had to get him out. Careful around that mud bud oh, you have a personal message
  20. My niece had this same fear till she was about 6,lol. Just kidding,...............she never had that fear ;D :-? Seriously,...grab that thing, squeeze harder. A bigger issue for me is the slime coat she is losing when you lay her on the ground. (That is her immune system) I've dropped my share of fish but always rinse them immediately and release them asap. Learn to hold them and you won't drop them or have them on the ground as often This fish cannot hurt you. Worst thing is some "chaffing" which will not draw blood and does not hurt. Where you grip the smaller ones, it chaf's up your thumb pad. But even when you start catching the bigger ones,....which you are , even when it hits in the not so tough skin of the hand,...it does not hurt. It's a trophy man,...wear it proud!! If it's just a personal thing, look into a boga grip or similar type product. They are designed for fish with teeth but work fine w/ Largemoth also. and btw.....NICE PB!!!!!!!
  21. Well, that about seals the deal,...I'll start researching It's a new world my man,....it ain't easy going back ............................so we didn't. Swimbaits all weekend. I actually caught my first bass on one of Matt's baits, the baby bass made my night!! Plan on seeing more Matt Lures products in my videos, honestly,....this fish, although not very big, was the one that finally made the puzzle pieces fit together. A valuable tool.
  22. You know who you are. I just got a letter this morning, from Dom country, anonymous. Simple note inside w/ cashiers check for $30 for CAST Note reads: "A Mr. Izzo mission paid forward. Thanks for helping spread his love" If you donated, this note is to you. We can all change the world,.........one good deed at a time. This $30 just put a rod/reel in a kids hand, just like Muddy did for whoever sent this.
  23. I'm smelling a Northern get together next yr...... Just a weekend thing, but something.......
  24. So Wayne got up here Thursday, after realizing that 5pm isn't the most opportune time to hit NYC. Ugh. Lesson learned. We hooked him up with some grub and settled in for the fun weekend to come. (Wayne,....tell them,....tell them I can eat! lol) We got out Friday only to have our butts handed to us. No bite (well, 2 dinks, they don't count unless you're Burley, lol), the last 2 weeks have shown us a shut down like I can't remember ever seeing before. We had fun though, Wayne got a good view of Lake X and all her glory while we got to know each other a bit more. Good fun. Friday evening found us out on the bay looking for Bluefish but this lockdown has not been isolated to freshwater. The Blues have been in hiding also, for over a week now. Just wierd,....plain WIERD. Either way, it was a beautiful night to be out on the salt. Saturday morning was "game day" as the 3rd annual Providence CAST event got under way. Mass Mike (Aquahombre) also came down from Mass and he and Wayne turned into my right hand men for the day. A real big help, thanks guys. The day was a resounding success, video to follow, and we got to turn on 31 more kids to this sport we are all so passionate about. Wayne and Mike working the tackle station of our "assembly line" registration. Kids will be kids.....SWORD FIGHT!!! After the event, we all went back to my place for some pizza's and a quick nap. Not planned but we all fell flat like rag dolls, lol. Awake at 6p and back on the water at Lake "X" by 7:30p. We met up with an old friend of mine (Uncle Vinny) who lives on the lake and I hopped on with him while Wayne and Mike took Big Red. and then Wayne got what he came for, a Lake X 4 lbr. on a slammer while we were rafted up. (Yes, it's all on video stay tuned, SpeedBead is the next rockstar in an LBH production, coming soon ) Barometer is breaking, the bite is on it's way back. Wayne was a great guest, welcome here any time, just like every other BassResourcer I've ever had here. A big help this weekend and an overall class act. A special "Thanks" to Mike and Wayne for travelling to support the cause, I/we really appreiate it. Till next time......... Catch 'em up
