  1. I picked up my first couple baitcasters recently. Can someone please describe your casting motion with a baitcaster vs. spinning reel. Is it a side arm wrist thing with the baitcaster ? And, does the baitcaster have to be at a certain angle at the launch point ? You cant cast overhead like a spinning reel can you ? Just need so more tips on technique? Oh, how many brakes do you leave on usually vs. the cast control knob ? Sorry about all the questions, but they don't come with directions on casting! Thanks everyone..
  2. basskid, that looks like a pretty nice largemouth you're holding there!!
  3. 80*, fullmoon, water temp 68.25
  4. A ton of things to click on here! I don't think you can run out of info to read up on at this site. Enjoy!
  5. Sweet!!! Glad to hear new techniques are working for you. It sounds like your gonna have a pretty fun summer! Keep the updates coming.
  6. How true...flippin!
  7. Shallow to semi shallow northeast side. Warms up quicker in the spring. Plus, that is where they are every year! I use plastics, small jigs, spinners and small crankbaits.
  8. Who thinks he is a punk? What did it say in the article?
  9. He is hard to read just seeing him on t.v. occasionally. I know he is very passionate about the sport of bass fishing. His antics on the other hand I'm not quite sure about. I personally haven't decided if he is funny or just trying to be!? He is definitely a character! But overall, I like him. He adds a little life to the sport.....Who did they say didn't like him in the article? Other pros or the public?
  10. Does anywhere here fish for/or catch albino's of any fish species ? Have you ever caught an albino anything ?
  11. Suspending jerkbaits sound good. I would get the carolina or dropshot rigged up on one pole at least. Good luck in the tourney! Are you sure the water there is gonna be that warm? I would double check that. The water on lakes down in VA are just getting near 50*.
  12. I'm with squid then...ranger....or triton By the way..I need a boat!...Know anybody who wants to buy a 2002 Sea Doo GTXDI?
  13. Chris is right! None of you others have heard of a vibrating technique work? Someone posted something regarding this recently. The story had something to do with someone's rod leaning against the boat motor, vibrating the lure and improving their catch for the day dramatically. Everyone was fighting for a spot on the motor to lean their rod. Funny but true!
  14. If you don't have a kid to take fishing, sometimes your fishing spot is a good place to meet a kid. I was at a local state park pond last summer when a kid, about 7 or 8 yrs old, was having trouble with his hook and bobber up in a tree.(poor little guy) :-[ Anyway, I helped him re-tie his hook and bobber and got him baited back up. He started fishing next to me. We got to talkin'. He was at the park with his stepmom and stepsister who were over at the playground while he was at the pond fishing by himself. He said he had just moved to our state with his dad and stepfamily. His birth mom had died recently of a heart attack. His dad was at work that Saturday afternoon, so I tried to stick around and fish with him that day until his stepmom and sister were ready for him to leave. I hope to see him out there again this summer!
  15. I just left you a post under the "plastic baits" post!
  16. Without a doubt a single hook has the capability of doing more damage. The slower presentation usually associated with a single hook just gives them more time to swallow it deep.
  17. Sound like you may have answered your own question. I'll add drop shoting and jigging!
  18. I predict a good year for this site. It's truly a pleasure to have such a site to visit. Thanks Glenn!
  19. I like that! Will try it in a few weeks.
  20. Can you post the link to your article please? ;D
  21. I was the same way growing up with sports Fivebass. When I was young all we had in our home was spinning reels. So, of course I learned to reel lefty.Only natural! Just like baseball...if you throw righty, then u catch with your left. I couldn't cast lefty if I tried! I would look like a sissy. ;D
  22. You know you do it!... We all do it!... All by yourself !...Nobody within a hundred yards of you...Wham!...You hooked 'em!....He's on his way to meet you for the first time!...He's at your feet!...You grap his jaw with bait barely attached!..You landed him!...Congratulations!... The Question ?...What did you say to him at that moment with nobody around? LOL...That's what I thought you said! (Who's your daddy!)
  23. Just a note! In my original post , I was just wondering if anyone listened to headphones while fishing. Boy things have been blown out of proportion! I like AC DC, Metallica, and Barry Manilow, but I wouldn't blow out my 1000 watt subwoofers on my bass boat trying to catch the world record large mouth listening to any of it! I like nature sounds too! I like the sounds of the water rippling too! From now on, I'm wearing ear plugs with nature sounds in them!
  24. Honestly, just take me back to that piece of water where I learned how to swim, fish, sail, row a boat, ice skate and skip a rock on as a kid. Memories!
  25. I think you can slow roll buzzers just below the surface to burning them very fast. Just depends on how your particular fish react I guess. You can also bend the blades to make them run at different speeds. Slurp slurp? Mine always seem to have a pretty steady buzzing sound, so I'm not too sure about that!? Maybe someone else can help us with that?
