  1. If you catch a big fish somewhere, there was a reason she was there. Big fish tend to be just outside the schools of quality fish. For instance, a couple weeks ago when I caught 26.5lbs, I caught 4 of my fish (all 4lb fish) in one area, then motored about 100 yards and caught the 10.2. Places that you catch big fish will replenish, just not as quickly as places that hold big schools of fish. The will normally replenish with another big fish. Last year I caught close to 10 fish over 7lbs in the same area over one months time.
  2. Awesome! What did those two fish weigh?
  3. Ive heard nothing but great things about the KLX, but I dont own one yet. I do own alot of Powell Endurance rods and you can get them for $150ish at thefishranger.com. They are superb rods IMO.
  4. ExpressKid and I went today. Only caught 8 fish, but had 20lbs. We caught 3 fish over 5lbs.
  5. Glade creek is probably the most known spawning creek on the lake. I've caught many 6-10lb fish in there in April. There will be a thousand people in there, but the key is to throw something a little different. I had my best luck on a 4.5" rattlesnake.
  6. Powell squarebill rod. It's 6'9" h/mf. It will handle squarebills, lipless, and spinnerbaits well!
  7. You can find a Powell Endurance 775 FLIP for $150 new if you shop around. You will not beat this rod in this price range...period. I own atleast one of 90% of the big name rod brands and the Powell is top notch.
  8. I think it is a composite rod. It has a ton of backbone to bury those thick trebles on squarebills, but a forgiving tip that loads up just right and keeps fish buttoned. If you use squarebills like I do then you need a lot of backbone to pull fish out of heavy cover.
  9. I have 3 Powell square bill rods. They are 6'9" h/mf and are a beast! I spent years looking for the perfect square bill rod and I finally found it.
  10. Both...it can be hard to find fish on your graph of they are relating close to the grass, so you just have to fish it to find out, BUT, there are times the fish will hold on the outside grass line and you can see them clearly on the graph! Last week I saw my fish on my graph for the most part, but they weren't sucked up into the grass.
  11. You imagine where a fish would be if where you are was underwater. My front porch steps always seems like it would hold some good fish if we ever have another Noah type flood!
  12. If we have warm weather next week, you can bet there will be a HUGE wave of females move up with the full moon. They are about to pop! Just need some stable weather and it will be on!!!
  13. I caught a 26.5lb bag with a 10.2lb kicker this past Saturday on the rig...
  14. Man I was franking out. It seemed like she jumped a thousand times!!! If anybody is going up there soon and wants more info on what I did, pm me, I don't want to post everything for the public to see.
  15. Just got back from my 3 days on Toledo. Feels good to finally get back up there. Fished Thirsday from the mounds down to six mile. Caught 8 fish, biggest went 7lbs. Found a stack of fish on a point, caught 4 in 7 cast and left em for my Tournament today. Friday I fished lowes down to the mounds and only caught 4 fish, big fish went 4.5lbs. I really struggled Friday, the wind was howling and I never saw the sun. It was rough. Today was tournament day, started on the point that I caught fish on Thursday and caught a quick 19lb limit. I culled up a few times and my dad caught his 5 there too. After fishing it out I hit a few other grass pints in 12-15 fow and caught a big fish that went 10.2lbs on our scales. Ended up catching 19 fish and I weighed 26.5lbs and my dad weighed 14.5lbs. I won out tournament and big bass with that 10.2! It was a great day for sure. AND I wasn't the only one to catch a BIG fish...somebody else around here caught a stud, but I'll let him tell y'all about it. And I got to meet SkeeterDon on the water today. It was good meeting you! Nice guy for sure!

  19. I would, but I've got a tournament on Toledo this Saturday. You can probably find a place that rents, but I'm not positive. Good luck!

  21. Catt still posts a good bit...check out the Toledo bend thread, he just posted today. Fishfordollars passed away awhile back. He was a great man and a great fisherman. We all miss his knowledge around here.
  22. Wish I was fishing tommorrow, but I blew the air compressor on my Pro XS last weekend and waiting for the new compressor to come in the mail. Hope to be back on the Bend next Thursday thru Saturday. Good luck Shaneus and Jerry!
  23. I own bot h. I have Powell max and endurance rods and dobyns savvy and champions. I feel the endurance 714c is one of the best deals around. If you look, you can find it for <$150. The dobyns are sweet, but I always find myself picking up the endurance 714c
