What now?
I build models, mainly Military, Tanks and other types of armor. Its actually pretty addicting. I go to the model shop instead Bass Pro and spend all my money there. Its expensive and frustration just like Bass fishing. ;D Here's a Sherman Tank I recently finished up after I stopped fishing a month or so ago. It took about 40 hours start to finish. Keeps me busy while dreaming of fishing...

Quality vs. Quantity
I think most beginners would rather have dinks but after 25 or so years those dinks are like catching sun fish. Gimme a few keepers any day.

Rhode Island... hang on to your #$%!
It doesnt surprise me one bit. Look what they did to the fishing and hunting programs. In all fairness these arent the Governers ideas as they were suggested to him. I will admit, hes been very fair to this point. Hes really in a bind because we are so broke. Thats because of the crooks we had in office for so many years. Lets face it, everyone just loves Buddy Cianci. The guys a 2 time felon! He stole from his own citizes and those very same people call his radio show and kiss his butt! Only in RI!

Great fishing spot gone forever...
That kind of thing happens all the time here in Rhode Island. Not so much with new develpments but with existing spots being fenced off and leaving no access to get in the pond. EVERY spring without fail another spot gets blocked off. Its usually not because of the fishermen its because of the JERKS dumping stuff in the lake or teenagers partying there.

Cool fishing story.
Cool story but it sucks that a 8 pounder had to die.

$$$ for fishing next year
I spend about 2000 to 3000 every year and dont even realize it. The way I figure it out is by the free 20 dollar gift certificates I get from dicks and the points from Bass Pro. It amazing how fast it adds up!

Question about bass getting used to lures, HOPE THIS MAKES SENSE
I totally agree with that. In RI the state is so small that the bodies of water get hammered and it just sems the fish know your bait is a lure etc, not natural. Case in point, I live near a very small neighborhod pond. It gets fished so much that its very hard to catch Bass out of there especially the 2 pounders and up. Every time I throw a new type of bait that gets released though, I do well with it for a while. It has happened when they first started selling the Chatterbait, some of the new swimbaits and other lures. Also, they will still hit shiners when they wont even look at a lure. I did read somewhere that of all the lures a Bass sees, it remembers the rubber worm the least. take it fir what its worth.

strangest things caught?
I could have cought, if I dint jerk the lure away very fast, a seagull with my MS Slammer. Its happened more than once too. Just shows you how well they move.

Burnout
I fish an average of 40 hours a week and have been for at least the last 5 years and probably 20 hours a week for the last 20 before that and have never got burnt out. Maybe you do need a change of scenery. As far as the Trout stocking is it because of cash? Is there an over abundance of them in the area and they need to let those bodies of water thin out a bit. It does say that its only temporary, until 1/2010. If I could I would be down south in a second. MOVE!

How to start bass fishing?
Out of the choices you have listed I would go with a Spinner Bait or a lipless crankbait as I think most here would agree. As you know they are high yeild baits and can cover a ton of water. Once they found them I would teach them to fish with a rubber worm like a Senko or 7 inch power worm. Even though you dont have it listed and I personally havent used them since I was a kid, I would go with shiners (live baitfish) with hook and bobber or nightcrawlers, especially if they are kids. Good Luck!

E-bay a sellers market
Here's the answer why. I am a FULL TIME EBAY SELLER. This is all I do for a living and have been doing it for a long time. I know all the ins and outs of Ebay. About a year ago Ebay decided that is was going to become more BUYER friendly. They were listening to the buyers that were in the minority mind you, that we having bad experiences. This number is very small but Ebay is a very greedy business and again only looking out for their buyers. Dont misunderstand me, buyer protection is extremly important but sellers need protection as well. In their infinite wisdom they chaged many of the policies that protected the SELLER. Issues like sellers getting taken on a sale where they buyer never pays and the seller cant leave a negitive feedback for the buyer, come on. A buyer can hold a seller hostage and demand partial refunds etc and the seller has no recourse. Lets say you get a reel and theres a few scratches on it and the seller said it has some minor deck rash. You dont think thats the case. You can now email the seller and say this has more than minor deck rash, give me 20 dollars back or Im leaving you a negitive. What can the seller do? Report the buyer? Ha thats a joke. Ive done it and nothing happens. A seller not being able to leave any negitive feedback is crazy. I understand that some sellers leave retaliation feedbacks but there are ways to control that. While I do agree that there are some crooked sellers on Ebay 95% are honest Ebay sellers that stand behind everything they sell. Its a small 5% that dont. When a buyer sees something he likes the key is to only but from a proven seller like myself. I have almost 3000 positives and a few negitives that I even tried to make the buyer happy but you cant please everyone. Sellers got tired of this kind of thing happening to them. PLUS the fact that Ebays fees have skyrocketed SO high its crazy. They now MAKE both buyers and SELLERS use Paypal. No more moneyorders or checks. Do you know why? Because they BOUGHT PAYPAL! By the time I list my item and get my payment from Payapl I'm spending almost 20%! you may think thats cheap but now add in the cost that I spent on the item, usually 50% of the final sale price and Im making 30%! Take out my time to list it etc and my profits about 15%! Thats nuts! While I still like alot about Ebay as do many sellers, some dont and are finding other ways to sell their items. Ebid, Ubid, Craigslist and a whole host of other sites are far more cheaper. The "Bad Economy" excuse is not it for the most part. If things are bad theres going to be MORE for sale. People are trying to sell MORE stuff to make some extra money. Its Ebays own doing that has cause this. I am already selling on other auction sites and these sites are growing every day.Im hopeing by next year to be done with Ebay. Buyer protection is important but people like me who sell on Ebay for a living need protection too and were just not getting it. The bottom line is the decline is items listed for sale is because there are less sellers because Ebay has chased them away. Polls have been taken to back this up.

Remembering Our Troops Abroad This Holiday Season
This doesn't have do with fishing directly but it does indirectly. How many of us outdoorsmen or outdoorsmen that we know were ior are in the Military and love to fish and hunt. Im sure there are many of us. www.anysoldier.com is a non-profit web site that provides people like us a way to send letters and even care packages in this Holiday season and ANY time of the year. If you have kids they can even do it as a class project and theres even ways to email soldiers. Many of these soldiers dont have families and a letter makes a big difference to them. This is a site I found a while back surfing on the web. It is a non profit site. No one is making out but the soldiers. It was started by a soldiers mom in 2003. Thanks for your time. www.anysoldier.com/\

Using online maps for pre-fishing
Ive look into many of the issues we are all having and I know this sounds obvious but its all up to them to update and come up with fixes. I spent a good amount of time looking into all of the issues stated and called a friend that works for Google. He informed me that there are big improvments coming with Google eath but its just going to take a bit more time. At least we have the know how, now we need them to do their part. Issues like the Google Earth images being a few years old and such. All we can do is just keep tring I guess. Good luck.

The official RI- SE Mass- Western CT who's who
Anthony Palumbo 40, Cranston, RI Home Pond, or acutally puddle, Meshanicut lake. People laugh at the place cause its so tiny but it gets so overfished its a challenge to catch anything nevermind a big one Fishing for 35 years. Seriously the last 20 I fish all over RI and Mass mainly I like fishing frendly tournaments as well as an ocassional serious one I am a rubber worm fisherman primarly but have been getting into Swim Baits more lately especially after lisitening to Paul , Russ, Dave and the other Swim Bait guys that make me go to the store and spend big money on super realistic baits that require new rods and new reels and to find certain lakes but they dont like them in the fall, Ooh sorry I was being called by the SB's. OK where was I... My main species that I pursue is largemouth bass. My personel best is 8 Lb 3 oz. I never brag but Im proud of it so I had to mention it I mainly fish out of my 11 foot Low Budget Cadillac Cradad that Ive had since new in 1987. Electric motor, fishfinder, cup holders and Im in Heaven I'm self employed and sell vintage toys and other antiques on Ebay so I get out on the water 6 days a week. Im always into meeting new fishing freinds especialy when you get out as much as I do A recent catch at Cooks. Its been a real slow fall for me.

RI SB fishing
Like i said, in this weather the hits wont be many. Try cranking the slammer down, or getting one the dives a little bit easier. If you want a slammer fish, just take you SB rods and only slammers. Build up confidence and use them enough to know how each bait acts. I understand that Leathal. Its not a real cold water bait. I was just letting him know its not just where hes fishing etc. I fish slow baits this time of year like a jig worm or jerk bait and have been for the last 30 years or so . Thanks for the advice though.

RI SB fishing
I've been having a hard time getting Bass to commit to my slammer. I see them follow it up to the boat on some occasions >. I have had some better luck with sinking swimbaits such as Megabaits Charlie. As far as friday I would be interested in meeting up for some fishing. I go out every friday alone as everyones usually working. I have a Crawdad that I fish out of and know of some decent SB spots. Personel Message me when you get a chance, Anthony.

Skunked Out again
Im in RI so I know how you feel. It has slowed considerably for me as well but its to be expected this time of year Bassnub. As the weather gets colder it get tougher as well. The problem with not having a boat is that the fish group up this time of year and if its cold enough they are probably out in the deeper water. IF you cant get to them you cant catch them. If you do have a sunny day try fishing right where the sun is shining on the water in the shallows, that may help. Tho other things I can suggest is try some shiners. I dont use live bait myself but if I was ground bound I would consider it. You get some athletic ones sometimes and they may swim out to deeper water but also no bait is as real as live bait. It cant hurt your chances of catching a fish. Good luck!
