  1. Thats a nice bass, congratulations! Fishing has been slow for me this year, I have been out 5 times this spring and have only caught 2 smallmouth, a one pounder and a dink. been catching more Rock Bass, Perch and Sunfish than I can count. No Largemouth yet I am a relocated downstater, originally from Brooklyn now living in Queensbury. I fish mostly on lake George but sometimes I will try my luck on the Hudson River. There is a nice spot to fish from shore right under the overpass on the Northway between exits 17 and 18.
  2. Thanks for the article. I have wanted to try the Swimming Senko. I usually dead stick the regular Senko's but lately I wanted to try something with a little more action. I think the Swimming Senko fits the bill.
  3. I voted for looking at the photos of Hawgs past. Those photos last long after the fight is over. As soon as you look at them the memories of the fight, the catch and the release just come flooding in.
  4. I tip my fishing cap to you sir. I am teaching my son to fish and I hope to be around long enough to show his child how to fish also.
  5. Both are great reels, you can't go wrong with either but I can tell you I am loving the president. It was my Father's day gift and it is quickly becoming my favorite reel.
  6. Wow you broke an Ugly Stick?!? What kind of break was it? I have only seen an Ugly Stick broken twice never while fishing though. The first was a broken tip beacuse it was stepped on. The second was my friend broke his two piece Ugly Stick trying to bend it tip to butt like in the ad's. It broke right at the part the two pieces joined.
  7. I agree with Jeff H, the Convergence is a good enough choice for a Spinnerbait rod. Your gear is better than what I had at 15 All I had way back then was an Ugly Stick paired with a Mitchell 300 and a Ugly Stick light paired with a Penn reel.
  8. I guess, like Tampa Tom this is as good a place as any to make my first post. I don't really care for Trilene, XL or XT. I have been fishing for a long time with mostly Stren. Last year while reading Bassmasters magazine I noticed a lot of pro's use Berkley line so I tried XL. I lost a few fish on 6lb test so I tried the XT but didn't like the stiffness. Looking back now it was probably my knots that were the problem, I switched from a Palomar knot to a Trilene knot while using the XL and XT lines. lost to many fish though to give it another try. Since then I have tried Vanish and hated it. It was very brittle and I couldn't get a good knot in it. Yo-Zuri hybrid was ok but it seems to "spring" off the spool and wrap underneath it. This year I went back to good ole' Stren. Just last week I snagged a submerged tree limb with 8lb test. I cut the line and was trying to pull the excess mono in by hand and I actually brought the tree to the surface. The limb had to weigh over 50 lbs. I sure don't regret going back to Stren.
