  1. Pflueger has come a long way, they put out a quality product at a great price.
  2. I would love to get one, it is one of the best looking reels I have seen. Pure eye candy with the guts to match its exterior looks. I love the titanium finish it looks so much better than that hideous blue green Johnny Morris reel.
  3. I still use my Ugly Stick tackle bag. My Flambeau hard tackle box fits right inside it plus a folding stool and some rod holders. The Ugly Stick bag has a shoulder strap so I can lug all that stuff around hands free. Its very useful when fishing from shore.
  4. Your welcome, you got Kik and I mixed up but I got what you were saying. I got the expired offer also, scares me to think how long that rod was sitting on the rack for it to expire. Hope is not lost!! Print the offer off their website, that one expires Dec 2009 http://www.allstarrods.com/as_promotions.html
  5. I have the same Shimano Symetre 2500 and All Star Select Rod you bought. I love the Symetre it is a fantastic reel. The only fault I could find with it is the bail wire and the handle are kinda cheap for a reel of its caliber. These are problems they seemed to have fixed in the new models coming out. I love the All Star Select rod, it has really turned me on to All Star as a company. The rod is just plain quality. Now to the bad part. I had a problem with the Select and the Symetre as a combo. The Symetre just doesn't sit well for me on the Select. I tighten the reel seat all the way and the reel still has some movement, just a little but enough to annoy me. Because of this I have paired the Symetre with my St. Croix Premeir and the Select is now being used with my Pflueger President reel. I have to say the President feels like it was made to fit the Select.
  6. For a sore throat, gargle with Listerine then drink some hot tea. After you finish the tea gargle with Listerine again. Oh and none of that minty listerine you need the original orange death flavored stuff.
  7. My dad says the same thing about the Wild Card. He is currently a Met fan but was a big time Dodger fan.
  8. When fishing from shore I take 3. One set-up for live bait fishing, one backup and one for fishing artificials (usually for wacky rigged Senkos)
  9. I thought they were rebadged Classics. They handles on the Select are different than the Instinct shown here: http://www.allstarrods.com/as_instinctspec.html They look like the American Classic handle with the rubber butt cap shown here: http://www.allstarrods.com/as_amerclassspec.html
  10. $29 is a great price they are normally $40 In my opinion they are the best rod you can get at that price range. The warranty is just icing on the cake.
  11. Thanks for the information, you learn something new everyday. I hope your treatment eventually can be covered by insurance. I wish you the best, it sounds like you are handling it pretty well.
  12. I read in Bassin that Mike Iaconelli uses them with his jigs. I was thinking about giving them a try. The look of the bottle reminds me of Gefilte fish. I think thats the reason I haven't tried fishing with it yet, that stuff brings back bad memories.
  13. I saw Roland's show yesterday and he was using his signature BPS rod and Spro Auruka Shad lure in Florida for bass.
  14. Sorry I didn't want to come off as insensitive but he put it out there that he was getting injections I was curious as to what he needed them for. I thought Botox was strictly cosmetic use. I did a little reading about it after I posted and it could be used for lots of things. I am guessing in this case, due to the locations he is getting the shots, that it is for muscle spasms?
  15. I use a weighted pecil style bobber. With a split shot attached to the line beneath just a tiny bit of the bobber is visible above the water. I find this bobber to work better than the old round red and white clip on kind.
  16. Botox is for wrinkles right? If thats what it is for why do you get injections in your neck, chest, and right shoulder?
  17. Wow that is some break! On the bright side thats an awesome reel (Daiwa Capricorn) he has on that broken pole. Mines on a St. Croix Triumph and I have set plenty of hooks with no problems.
  18. Very true. You should not have any problem fitting a Pflueger reel on an All Star rod but I have had a problem with other brands. My President fits like it was born to be on my All Star spinning rod but my Symetre doesn't sit as well. Seems to be loose in the reel seat.
  19. I have 2 of the All Star Select (Dick's exclusive) rods one spinning and 1 casting. I like the casting rod much more than the spinning rod. Great rods for the price.
  20. I have a low profile Abu Garcia Ambassadeur that has a flippin switch. It was in the $55 price range.
  21. Shorehugger, I have been servicing Shimano® reels for over 25 years now. I have been posting on this forum since 05. Every time some one asked about using Hot Sauce in any reel other than Quantum I have rebutted it stating that if the MFG wanted hot sauce used in their reels they would add it to the box. Ask any of the long time posters about my thoughts on Hot Sauce..... Tight Lines!!! I meant no offense RM, from reading your posts I have the upmost respect for you. I was just posting the link to show Bronzeback01 that the subject of hot sauce has come up in the Shimano forums. I agree with you totally on this subject. I would not have used anything other than the lube that came with the reel.
  22. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1222441848 RW already posted this over on the Shimano boards for him. And this post in the Shimano forum sums up the Hot Sauce problem http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1222306180
  23. Nothing is worse than buying something and it is damaged right out of the box. Like my Dad always says the money you are paying for the item is perfect you should get perfect merchandise in return. The only mistake I see you make was If it was grinding right out of the box, try the lube that came with the reel. If that didn't work bring it back to the store immediately. Do not try another brand of lube! Next time you are buying something 60 miles away from your house pull the item out of the box in the store and test it out. It will save you a trip.
  24. I would trade all thirty smallies I caught yesterday that were in the one and a half to two pound range for one of those fat monsters! Awesome fish.
  25. That tree cracking sound you described sounds familiar to me. I had a line snap with a whip cracking sound like that once. My line was overlapping on my spool in one spot and when I cast the line snapped from the weight of my lure. An object in motion scientific mumbo jumbo stuff.
