  1. I will clean the cork handles with Dawn soap and warm water and then apply U-40 cork seal to the rods I haven't sealed yet after allowing them to dry overnight. The other previously sealed rods are ignored as far as maintenance, all rods stored upright. How often do you guys reapply U-40 seal?
  2. 1. finding the fish 2. working different lures with nice gear
  3. ive tried several other brands throughout the years but keep coming back to shimano. ive decided not to mess with anything else again. all shimano on the mountain bike too.
  4. if its not freezing temps - 20-30lb braid (power pro) with or without FC leader or 12 or 14lb FC (sunline sniper) - rocks, clear water or 12 or 14lb copoly or hybrid (yo-zuri hybrid) - all around line i usually do slow bottom presentations or slow roll a spinnerbait when the water is cold.
  5. the 7" MedHeavy Fast Mojo would be a good choice. Better yet, save up a little more and get the Avid or Avid X. St Croix MedHeavy is a bit heavier than most other MedHeavy rods from other manufacturers. A St. Crox Heavy would probably be a bit too much for an all around rod.
  6. I think you will love the reel, 68camaro. I have 3 Ci4+ 2500s that I rotate depending on which spinning rods im using. Two extra spools gives me more line choices. I don't touch my aluminum stradics anymore.
  7. MBR 843c GLX 2015 Aldebaran 51 HG (to pair with a BCR803c) Pop Max! (love the pop-x, have to try big bro)
  8. snowboarding and poker help me get through it.
  9. they are still selling the classic MBR GLX rods which is one of the reasons I bought a rod I don't need, worried they will stop making them soon. I think they stopped making the GLX 844c according to monster fishing tackle. the IMX MBR rods are the newer version. http://www.*.com/G-Loomis-Classic-Mag-Bass-Rods-s/78.htm
  10. I ordered the MBR 843c GLX. In case anyone is interested, this is from a member of another forum: "The MBR783 GLX is a great all around rod. I use it for top water, TX rigs, jigs, spinner baits or anything really. The length is an advantage for tip down applications as already mentioned, but extra length would be nice for longer casts and more line movement on hook sets at distance. I wish my MBR843 had the same taper, it has a much softer tip and doesn't feel as crisp for bottom contact with weights around 3/8oz. The 843 is better a lighter work though, smaller senkos, shaky heads, ect."
  11. ill recommend avids for the moving baits and GLX or NRX for the jig/worm rod. check out the Loomis expeditor service ($100 replaces broken rod), similar to St. Croix's.
  12. when you said that it sinks below the surface, are you keeping the line semi slack when fishing senkos? you are looking at the line right where it enters the water. rod tip up and lower as the bait sinks, just enough to not affect its verticle fall. please excuse me if i misunderstood your issue. ill echo the yellow braid with flouro leader. id probably use 15lb power pro. cheap/old mono backing will keep the line from slipping as well as save line. feels weird when it slides on the spool, i thought the drag was broken.
  13. some XF rods have soft tips and others are quite stiff. a rod tip rating would be nice! i personally like "MBR" type fast or an XF that does not have a very soft tip when jig fishing 3/8oz plus trailer or greater.
  14. if i could only have one spinning rod to cover lighter lures and techniques id get the NRX 852s with a 2500 Ci4+. you want an XF jig worm baitcasting rod on the heavier side instead? read about the NRX 894c. i havent fished this one but have heard its the way to go.
  15. 15lb power pro with (hi vis yellow) or without (green) FC leader or 6-8lb sunline sniper FC if you dont want to use FC, id recommend 6-8lb yo-zuri hybrid. i might use 10lb FC if fishing 1/4oz jigs/t-rigs.
  16. its all in good fun, bigbill. i really enjoy your posts, i know others do too. (tu tambien, Raul, admite lo) you do have to let us know what your poison is. poisonokie thinks youre spiking your moonshine, Alonerankin2 is curious if you go for the body buzz or the mind type and iabass8 doesnt care, he just wants to throw down. im thinking an upper, prescribed.
  17. thanks but I actually own the 783c. trying to justify the purchase of the 843 edit: wont hurt to give your thoughts... ive handled the 843 glx but couldnt tell much of a difference between it and the 783 although i did not have them side by side. it did feel a little stiffer than the nrx 843. 783c is one of my favorite rods. spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, swimjigs, buzzbaits, traps. jigs and t-rig. all feel right on this rod. prefer the rod over my 843 nrx for an all around type rod.
  18. id recommend hip waders or a kayak.
  19. Hello friends, Those of you that have fished both rods, can you tell me the differences? I know the 6'6" will be more accurate and the 7' will cast further but can you tell me if there is any difference in power, action or tip stiffness? Thanks! -Z
  20. rat-l-traps at dark! noob tip: if bait has not wrapped around the branch yet, aim rod at branch and reel bait until it is about 2 inches from branch. lift rod until the bait flys off branch. the trick is not lifting the rod too fast and keeping it in one long motion all at the same speed.
  21. imma vote symetre or used ci4+.
