  1. a lot of the loomis rods are on sale below. IMXs come out to about $195, GLXs to about $275 and NRX to about $350 with free shipping. Most of the deals are on the newer JWR rods but they do have deals on IMX MBRs.... Click "email for best price" and also use code aug201511 http://www.*.com/G-Loomis-Bass-Rods-s/659.htm
  2. hard salami sandwiches and plenty of Founder's All Day IPA.
  3. I never fish alone. Im kind of lucky in the fact that I have 3.5 friends that are as crazy as me. The .5 guy can do 4 or 5 hrs so he's good for after work trips.
  4. Shimano! I have strayed several times and learned my lesson each time. Saros FA 2500 for $120 shipped: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Shimano-Saros-FA-SAR2500FA-/271819008657?hash=item3f49acea91 Stradic FJ 2500 for $147 shipped: http://www.ebay.com/itm/SHIMANO-ST-2500FJ-STRADIC-SPINNING-REEL-6-0-1-6BB-NIB-2434-/171848373075?hash=item2802f61353
  5. get a LH baitcaster if you reel with your left hand on spinning. I made the switch several years ago and I wish I had started fishing with a LH reel. I still have not heard a good reason for switching hands. I think most people do it because that's what they learned on and don't feel like retraining the brain.
  6. I wanted to echo that the NRX 852s is an awesome rod. it pretty much made 2 or 3 of my other spinning rods obsolete. it really exceeded my expectations.
  7. I have not used the NRX version of the 803s but I can tell you that the GLX 803s is far from being a good all around spinning rod. Its a 3 power rod with a lure rating of only up to 5/16oz. The NRX 803s has the same lure rating which is why I am not buying it. Why they didn't make it like the 803c (one of my favorite rods) blows my mind. I would be surprised if it handled your 1/2oz baits well. should be nice with the weightless trickworms though. The NRX 852s is an awesome all around bottom contact finesse rod. Great for shakey head, dropshot, small jigs and t-rig, senkos. It also does well with light spinnerbaits too. the NRX 842s will probably be closer to the action of the fast avid but I do not have experience with it. What you want is the NRX 843s but unfortunately they don't make one! Keep in mind that St. Croix's power ratings are different than Loomis. A St. Croix medium is more like a Loomis medium heavy than a medium.
  8. smallmouth - 1/4oz bitsy bug jig, 3" yum craw papi - pumpkin largemouth - 1/4oz yamamoto arkie jighead, 5" yamamoto hulagrub - rootbeer i like jigs
  9. hello, how do you guys superglue your plastic baits to the worm hook? a drop of glue under the eye near the bend and slide the worm over? how many times can you glue a new bait to the same hook? thanks! -z
  10. the assault paddle is a little pricey but it is a great investment. I use it every trip mostly when I have one hand on the rod and I am trying to do minor corrections to kayak positioning. its also great for pushing off of things, anchoring to logs/structure above the water line, cutting bait on and dislodging shallow snags.
  11. id get the 803 GLX for $307.50 shipped from Monster Tackle http://www.*.com/G-Loomis-GLX-Jig-Worm-Rod-803S-p/gloomis-glx-803sjwr.htm (click "email me best price")
  12. treat it like a $100 rod! http://www.gloomis.com/content/g-loomis/us/en/home/conventional/support/xpeditor-program-details.html
  13. Hello amigos, I own a GLX 852s and it is my favorite spinning rod of my collection of GLX and St. Croix rods. I fish mainly small jigs, senkos and fat ikas with this rod on 8lb sniper fc. I was hoping that someone who has fished with both rods can tell me the difference between the two. I have never fished a NRX rod so minor details are appreciated. I might be crazy but i might use one for small jigs and another for the weightless yamamoto baits. If they are very similar, my brother may get a surprise gift. Thanks, -Z
  14. if you have $100, you will have a new rod if you break a loomis. http://www.gloomis.com/content/g-loomis/us/en/home/conventional/support/xpeditor-program-details.html
  15. I use a mbr 844c GLX for big worms, jigs and small swimbaits
  16. sent you a PM about bull run access. you can also try fountainhead regional park which is between bull run and lake ridge marina
  17. 8lb sniper flouro on spinning rod
  18. not sure about NRX but I use a GLX 852 for senkos and its great
  19. thanks, piscicidal. jigs are my favorite way to fish, im going to try those gulp shrimp. do you pretty much fish them like bass jig or do you do a little more dragging than hops? thanks!
  20. hello everyone, im sorry that this post is not about bass fishing but i would like to use light spinning gear to fish Whitewater Bay. we will be spending a few days this month kayak fishing in Whitewater Bay and I was wondering what type of lures to throw around on 8-10lb flouro. I've done a little reading and it appears there are redfish, bonefish and small tarpon in the bay. i was thinking of using hard and soft jerkbaits and crankbaits. would you recommend top water baits or soft plastics? I believe the average depth is about 8ft in the bay but i plan on fishing near the mangroves. thanks in advance, -z
  21. that is a great spinning rod. the tip is nice and stiff and i use it mainly for 1/4oz jigs.
  22. ^^^ for bottom baits i try to use a spinning setup when i can get away with it as you dont have to strip line to get a vertical fall. im probably in the minority however... i use a baitcaster for moving baits 1/4oz or greater and bottom baits of maybe 3/8oz plus plastic and up. i agree with most posts above, you do not need a baitcaster.
