  1. Hello friends, I left my tackle bag at the lower parking lot of Fountainhead Regional park next to the launch yesterday. Its a soft black and blue Cabelas bag with hard Plano boxes inside. My fishing license is in one of the pockets. Left it around 5:30pm and 1 hour later it was gone. If you find it I'll pay you some reward money! Thanks, -Z
  2. I dont have the gl2 but I have the 853 glx jwr and I use it mostly for 3/8oz jigs + trailer. I was throwing a hollow frog with it from a kayak the other day and was surprised how well it cast being an XF rod. it handles heavier lures better than my 783s glx and 803s nrx. I actually like the foregrip on the gl2 a lot more than the new glx version which is pretty thick. good find!
  3. I suggest maybe trying larger minnows. might be more attractive to the bass and less to the panfish.
  4. bury hook eye (and tag end) inside plastic bait a few millimeters. use a bobber stopper if you do not want the weight to slide up the line.
  5. hello! im in the centreville VA area. mostly fish from a kayak with a few other kayak owners. I own a trolling motor for jon rentals.
  6. easy for me - 1/4oz arkie jig head with a yamamoto double tail hula grub. I would not quit the hobby (but would sell about a dozen rods).
  7. for snakehead id like to add: mattawoman creek (when tide goes up, fish something in the gap between the weeds and the surface) pohick bay (head up towards the creek to the left of boat launch) best at dusk and throughout the night. the eerie lights from the bow fishing boats will tell you where theyre at.
  8. are you sure boats have to be out by dark? ive fished well into the night on a kayak and there are no gates (at least on the south launch)
  9. i know. this horse has been killed many times. but i was wondering if you local guys use a flourocarbon leader when fishing braid in what i would consider stained northern va water. potomac, occoquan, and the lakes around here - id say 12-18" visibility on the average day? i very rarely use a leader and im wondering if im losing jig fish on 10,15 and 20lb green power pro. if you have fished with and without leader enough times to compare, what are your results? thanks in advance! -z
  10. on the southern launch there is a small beach where i launch the kayaks, might give you a little room to move around. kinda shallow near shore though, not sure where it drops off. Wayne P. - is there a hiking trail around the lake?
  11. i have a 2500 ci4+ and it balances nicely on the 852s. i hold the rod by the foregrip, above the reel seat. i use it for shakey, dropshot (dont do it enough to justify a dropshot rod), 3/16oz jigs with small trailers, senkos, weightless soft plastics.
  12. ive tried berkley 100%, PLine fluorocarbon and sunline sniper and my favorite is the sunline sniper out of those 3.
  13. id go with a shimano stradic 2500 at that price point.
  14. in my 30s and prefer the look and feel of cork. prefer stained over brand new cork. split or full grip, don't matter if its comfortable and the rod is light.
  15. to build confidence I would try 4" wacky rigged senkos and small jigs w/ small trailers like a bitsy bug and 2.75" craw papi.
  16. get a couple of 1/4 oz inline spinners instead of nightcrawlers. cast and reel in. nothing complicated.
  17. today only - mention you are from bassresource and I will give you a $100 discount.
  18. I use powerpro braid sunline sniper FC yozuri hybrid copoly trilene xl mono
  19. you need to stop spending money on your other hobbies and get some new bass fishing toys! 1. maybe 75% 2. probably 50% have not been used
  20. haha. I cheated with the kayak. are you sure that no one posted a ranger boat in the previous 149 pages?
  21. nrx 852s JWR (exceeded my expectations) nrx 843c MBR (id say its about .5 power less than the glx version) native slayer 12' and werner cyprus hooked paddle (not tackle but probably the best fishing related purchase ive ever made)
  22. if rocks are a problem, id go flouro/flouro or flouro/mono.
