i have better luck with the peanut version.

spooling a spinning reel
line jumping off a spinning reel usually means you put too much line on. give yourself a little less than 1/4 inch of empty space on a 2500 size

Have you ever "taken count" and realized...
i wish i had the same problem. can you believe im using the same rod for cranks that i do for spinnerbaits? ludicrous!

looking to start a fish tank
you can filet them when they get too large and then restock. id grab an ultra-light rod and some panfish lures and catch my own at a nearby stream. the more work you put into catching a baby the more you will appreciate your fish.

Kayak Gear
this is for a sit on top (sot) kayak, correct? pfd - i like the Extrasport Osprey whistle - you'll be glad you spent the $2 on this if you ever need it. good paddles - i like carbon shaft with plastic blades scotty rod holders - i have one between my legs, 2 behind me. roof rack or other way to transport the kayak on a vehicle optional: rudder - great for windy days or to control your drift so you can keep your hands on the rod and off the paddle. milk crate - great to hold stuff in the back kayak/canoe cart - if you plan on hauling it fair distances. i like the fatboy with inflatable tires depthfinder anchor - can be dangerous in current drift sock paddle leash

Looking for a multi purpose spinning rod

New hotel in Dubai has grand opening. Check it out.
Just don't show any public displays of affection or anything like that. They arrest people for that over there. its not as bad as you might have read. females can wear high heels, skirts, tank tops. bikinis on the beach. holding hands, hugs, a quick kiss will not get you in trouble. just dont make out in public, which is rude as hell anyways. unless, of course, its that kind of party.

Capitalism. Bass-Brat- you realize this is the American way they are following? im sure you feel the same way about us? (yeah, me too.) i lived in Dubai for 2.5 yrs. they are investing tons of money in infrastructure because they know their oil wont last forever. they took a huge hit when the dollar went down as the Dirham is pegged with the dollar. much of the construction came to a halt (there seems to be a crane on every corner). This hotel opening up is a good sign. whether or not its stays afloat is another story.

Fat Ika Rod Selection
my favorite rod to fish them on the bsr852. if there is a good amount of cover i use the bcr803.
-
Standout G.Loomis Rods
i use and recommend: bsr852 - light jig/plastic bcr803 - all around jig/plastic mbr783 - all around rod mbr844 - big baits/heavy cover edit: ive heard good things about the shakey head models (SHR) and negative about the older frog models.

Anyone recently fish Curtis Lake (Stafford, Va)
sorry to have no real beneficial info for you but i was thinking about heading down there with my girlfriend since the rivers are high. we'll be in a blue and green kayak. only been to Curtis lake once and got skunked. your post about the 5lb'er gives me hope! it sure is a fishy looking lake...

How long is your "day" on the water?
if im doing a day trip, 6hrs is usually enough for me. kayak/canoe camping would be a sun up to sun down deal.

Fat Ika or Crankbaits
if you want to focus on one at a time id do the Fat Ika first. check out roadwarriors posts about how to fish them. (t-rigged backwards, no weight). crankbaits are definitely something you want to have in your tool box, and theyre easy to learn. they love human flesh though.

ATTENTION VIRGINIA!
i apologize, SMfisher, i was just making a horrible example. now i feel like an @ss so i will send a little check your way.

WELL I THINK I DID IT-The New Shak-E2 Pro Model
great news! in my opinion, most light jigheads have too small of a hook for worm fishing.
-
ATTENTION VIRGINIA!
haha that would be hilarious. looks legit - http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1268008432 NewAngler- you might want to post the address. this is just confusing with no link to what youre talking about. i sent 5 glx's to "smfisher, Puloski, VA" and they were returned to me.

Good beginners bass rod and reel
what kind of fishing do you do? do you like artificial baits? are you not sure you'll be into it? i dont think there is such a thing as a beginner rod. if you know its going to be a lifetime hobby, spend what you can afford. depending on budget: reels: citica, curado, core rods: falcon, fenwick, st. croix avid, loomis imx, loomis glx

Jerkbait Setup
i like a 6' to 6'6", M or ML, fast action spinning rod.

Question on jig assortments
id suggest a small finesse jig (bitsy bug, eakins) with a 3" craw trailer in a green pumpkin type color to build confidence. try baby paca craw, yum craw papi, baby rage craw trailers. ive had good luck with zoom tiny chunks too.
-
Jigs
id suggest a small finesse jig (bitsy bug, eakins) with a 3" craw trailer in a green pumpkin type color to build confidence. maybe youre fishing them too fast? if hopping isnt getting you bit, try dragging a few inches, pause, shake in place.... drop the jig into clear shallow water where you can see it and pay attention to how your rod movements affect it.

Upper Potomac
yes. just dont go past riverbend park unless you have a barrel to ride in. check out point of rocks, algonkian park, riverbend. there are some access points between point of rocks and algonkian. shoot me a pm if youre interested and ill check the map when i get home from work.

Jocassee: Gin clear water? no problem. Deep water hook set? Fail!
if you moved him 20 feet, it sounds like he may have shook it off. was there any slack during the fight? braid, good quality hooks and a good backbone on a rod should help with hooksets

Help with Shaky head/drop shot rod
i started using XF rods last year and i think their can be a big difference in tip stiffness between brands and even between different lengths of the same model. i would narrow it down to a few specific rods (or blanks) and post questions about the feel of each indivdual rod...

Help with Shaky head/drop shot rod
a 2 power becoming roadwarrior's favorite??? what's going on here? if the avs68mxf has a similar feel to the LE version, id get that. i wouldnt go light on the drop shot weight, however. you should be able to get one for $150 if you take your time. i usually use the avs69mlxf when fishing a drop shot.

Rod and reel recomendations
if you dont want to spend $100 on the rod id do as mentioned above. in that price range i like the shimano sahara 2500 although the last time i fished one was around 2001. i think theyre lighter now...
