G Loomis GLX
$50 fee if you break it. you call them, they ship you same model. you return broken rod in the tube your new one came in. if its faulty (they decide that) they replace it free. ive only had my glx rods for a since last season but ive never broken one. and im pretty good at hitting the ceiling with the tip and having them snag bushes while kayaking.

Baitcaster set well for casting but bait doesn't fall on it's own
id loosen the tension and add a little thumb on the cranks then pull line as needed. add a high arc cast and then lower the rod tip if you dont mind a splash. try a good spinning rod with the senkos if you havent already.

Loomis Mossyback BSR 852
i throw 3/16 and 1/4oz jigs and t-rig, shakey head, 4 and 5 inch senkos, fat ikas and other weightless plastics on the glx version. i assume they have similar feel? i haven't tried tubes or grubs but i think they would feel great with a little weight. its a great "all around" finesse stick in my opinion.

More Important: Rod or Reel
as long as theyre both good quality, i dont mind fishing a setup where either is more expensive than the other. ill pair my avid with a core ill pair my glx with curado that being said, i tend to spend more on rods as i do alot of bottom bait fishing.

Geez I hate spinning tackle
what's weird is that i've been using spinning reels since the late 80's and i've never heard of line twist being a problem until i found this forum a couple years ago. im not sure what ive been doing right or i'd suggest it.

New G.Loomis Line-up
"Because the new series blanks exhibit these performance and weight attributes G.Loomis states they will be able to deliver the same action and feel of an 845 (for example) at 2 powers lighter. " i better start saving.

New to bass fishing
sit on top kayak is the way to go. dont need a boat launch! learn the palomar knot.http://www.animatedknots.com/indexfishing.php soft plastics and jigs i use black and green pumpkin. black for dirtier water, grn pumpkin for clearer water. for moving baits i like white or natural colors like shad. chartreuse if the water is a little stained.

New to bass fishing
id start with some small/medium moving baits. 1/4oz shallow crankbaits (rapala), 1/4oz rat-l-trap, 3/8oz white spinnerbait. just cast these out and bring them in with a steady retrieve. when you feel comfortable with the particular bait you can start changing retrieve speed and give it little erratic "jerks". 4" and 5" senkos are a good bait to use. i rig them "wacky" style with a 1/0 gamakatsu drop/split shot hook. a 1/4oz bitsy bug jig with matching 3" craw trailer (paca craw, craw papi) will catch you bass of all sizes. fish jigs similar to texas-rigged (t-rig) worms. using the rod tip to move the bait rather than the reel. let the bait sink to the bottom. pause. shake. pause. hop. pause. drag. mix it up! feel free to PM me with any questions. good luck.

Help a Newbie with a setup!
unless you want to have a spare "loaner" rod in the future, id spend a little more on a rod. buy your tackle slowly, if only a few lures at a time, if money is tight. there are plenty of good cheap rods out there. what is your budget? your specs look good. a 6'6", medium power, fast action spinning rod is what id go with. ive heard great things about that president xt reel but id go with a shimano symetre 2500 as i have alot of experience with them and recommend them 100%. good luck. youre gonna enjoy it.

do i want the MBR782C GLX?
i sold off my older baitcasters about 2 yrs ago and have collected 3 since then. bcr803 glx mbr783 glx mbr844 glx im looking for a baitcaster to mainly toss shallow/light billed cranks, small spinnerbaits and buzzbaits with. it will be paired with a chronarch 51mg. should i get the mbr782c? if youve fished both the IMX and GLX, how do they compare as far as action and power? i dont mind losing a little sensitivity if the IMX "feels" better for moving baits. thanks in advance -z

Need some shakey head help
yes, you can fish it like a normal jig, as you described. but also try shaking it in place. a soft tip will make this easier. try to rock the jig a little and pause. this will cause the tail to shake. practice in shallow clear water where you can see the bait. i also like the Shake2 jig recommend above.

Learning to play the guitar
if you want to play the banjo get id get a decent acoustic guitar. check to make sure the strings stay close to the neck even near the bottom.

Finesse rod...cont'd
based on what you want to fish, i will recommend the medium 6'8" xf as a better all-around finesse spinning rod. what weight shakey jigs and what size wacky worms? i have the 6'9" ml avid and i would not like throwing anything heavier than a 1/8oz jig. it can handle a 4inch senko but id rather toss that on the medium as well. the ml avid has a nice tip for dropshot however. hope this helps.

line help - breaks
do you mean reeling your fish out of the water several feet up to the pier? supporting a fish out of the water causes alot of strain on the rod. id look into some kind of drop net with a rope to save your rod. if you think your rod can handle the weight, braided line would be a great solution.

Learning to play the guitar
do yourself a favor, start by learning to read tablature (tabs). there plenty of tabs you can find online and start playing right away. http://www.howtoreadguitartabs.net/ if you dont know if you'll stick with the hobby get an acoustic. electric is easier to play but can be a bit more expensive
