  1. sounds like a plan to me. senkos are pretty heavy. are you throwing the 3"?
  2. dont rip your lure from the tree branch without sunglasses on.
  3. 6lb'er on 6# trilene xl, 1/4oz bitsy bug with tiny zoom chunk (green pumpkin) 6lb'er on 6# trilene xl, 1/4oz arkie jighead with 5" yamamoto hula grub edit: both Largemouth
  4. looks good. i'd try spinnerbaits and buzzbaits on your MH/fast. some people like moderate fast... rod 2 sounds like a perfect all around shallow/medium depth crankbait rod. rod 3 might be a good rod for jerkbaits, skipping plastics or you could use it to toss a plastic after a bass that missed your moving bait. keep in mind ive never fished those shimanos, my advice comes from the power and actions of the rods. if you bought a 4th rod at some time and you like spinning rods, id get a medium light , f or xf for light jigs, light t-rigs, weightless plastic, tubes, grubs and "finesse" presentations.
  5. 1. italian sub with sweet peppers 2. 1/2 chicken, fries and extra yellow sauce
  6. i just picked up the GMCO's pro Upper Potomac River map from Urban Angler in Arlington. There are a few rapids just down river of Harper's Ferry but it looks like Brunswick would be a good spot to put in....
  7. being the nerd that i am, i went to urban angler on my lunch break. exactly what i was looking for. now im hungry. is the map edible? thanks guys
  8. kayakist - just called the old "angler's lie" (forgot the new name) and they have it in stock. going to pick it up after work... let me know if you'd like some company when the river drops a bit.
  9. depending on lure weight i use: bsr852 - medium, 7'1", XF bcr803 - med/heavy, 6'8", XF mbr844c - heavy, 7', F
  10. thanks. i dont nessecarily plan on doing the whole stretch at once but do plan on spending alot of time on the upper potomac this year. thanks for the advice, ill check out that book.
  11. id buy white (all-around color), white/chart, black (night or muddy water), natural (shad) i usually use silver blades if its sunny/clear, painted or bronze in lower light/visibility. wider blades will cause more vibration. good for stained>muddy water. do a search. theres tons of info on spinnerbaits. what works one day might not work the next.
  12. when the upper potomac is at normal levels, are there any rapids i need to be aware of or portage between brunswick and algonkian park while kayaking (sot)? could you recommend a map of that area? a map showing public land would be great. thanks in advance -z
  13. i like using cajun red mono and try i to match diameter to the line im using (dont think this is nessecary but figured it would fill the spool more evenly). i like the red because i can see when im getting close to the end...
  14. Sebile makes great stuff. the 3.75" magic swimmer in white lady has become my favorite treble hook lure.
  15. catching fish is a bonus. i can have a great day floating around tossing a jig and being the crayfish
  16. i think it may be easier if you post the msrp of the rod and the price its being sold for. gl3 is a little overpriced plus its used. if it wasnt close to 40% less than msrp id look for a used IMX instead...
  17. dark colors and/or chartreuse
  18. just bugs me when people bash gear for uneducated or no apparent reasons.
  19. id get st. croix avid, loomis imx or glx, depending on budget. if you can find a good sale, the st. croix legend elites are very nice. i've heard good things about the LTB as well. id go 6'6"-7", med light, XF for small shakey heads in sparse cover.
  20. come join the haters and the others discussing the rods here: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1269094312/0
  21. get some of the baby rage craws, eakins 5/16oz finesse jigs, and the smallest sebile magic swimmer in white. while your at it buy yourself a new rod. i hear glx are nice.
  22. im using a mbr844c for big jigs and t-rig. the bcr series might be something to look into. the bcr803 is the best rod if fished lighter jigs with, unfortunately i havent tried the heavier powers.
  23. any good micro brew i havent had in a while is my beer of choice.
  24. i bought a bag of the generic basspro darter heads with a thin weedguard. i only use them with grubs in a shallow river when the weeds are thick. i usually fish grubs with round jig heads. i run the hook very close to the surface along the seam of the grub. i think you get a better swimming action and you have a wider gap for the hook set. usually tail down unless its a long grub then i point it up. i sometimes fish them like a finesse jig instead of swimming or hopping but i dont know if that is an unconventional method.
