  1. ditto!! id take that over a green one anyday. what did you catch it with?
  2. what im trying to figure out is why some people choose F or XF over the other for this application.
  3. you might also want to mention how you inserted the hook through the seam on the worm. thanks for taking the time to give back to the community -z
  4. youre good with what you have. until you start swimming the jigs, then you want baitfish colors. buy those with the money made when you sell your crankbaits
  5. im interested in knowing why you prefer fast over extra fast (or vice versa) for your jig/worm rod. ive only used fast action rods for these applications but im thinking of getting an extra fast to try it out. more specifically, im using a loomis sjr783s for light jigs and worms and looking at trying the st. croix ltbs68mxf. what difference will i notice when throwing 1/4oz jigs and t-rigs? (mr. Rockatansky?) thanks -z
  6. loomis sjr783s / shimano stradic 2500 soft plastics and light jigs
  7. hello. id like to find a mold to make some craw worms for my finesse jigs. looking for something about 3 inches kind of like the yum craw papi http://www.***.com/descpageSOFTYUM-YCP.html anyone know of something similar thats not a chunk? thanks in advance -z
  8. i switch hands with the BC but not with spinning
  9. Ultra soft? If it is "Ultra soft" would that not meant hat it has very low abrasion resistance? no. i think it has very good abrasion resistance. it is limp and has very low memory.
  10. both. i like to use 4 inch senkos. t-rig, drop shot. whatever. theyre like largemouth but they hang around structure not necessarily cover. fish rocky bottom. if there is an area with current, fish there. behind big rock blocking current = smallmouth. favorite way for me to catch them is on a finesse jigs (bitsy bug, eakins) with small trailer, 1/4oz. hope this helps, -z
  11. i only have one lure in my tacklebox. i have a very small tacklebox. the walking worm http://www.ngcsports.com/walking_worm.cfm?ccode=WWchnaWLL
  12. spinning gear, grubs, tubes, 4" worms, small jigs, small cranks, small spinnerbaits, inline spinners. start with small baits. if the fish are very aggressive or if you are catching too many dinks, use larger baits. good luck -z
  13. Not usually. Its one type of copolymer. Yo-Zuri Hybrid, P-line CX, Halo, Fluoroclear, are a few that are either blended or coated with FC. There are many, many more copoly lines out there that contain no FC. i thought flouro/nylon was the most common. what is the most common combo for copolymer lines?
  14. copolymer is usually a flouro and mono (nylon) mix. yo-zuri ultra soft is recommended alot on here. i finally tried it and its great. i did use kvd line conditioner (another great product) on it, so i cant give an opinion on the line without it. its also a very cheap line. for spinning reels i suggest yo-zuri ultra soft 6#. for casting maybe 12#. they are stronger than the test rating. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0030185119279a&type=product&cmCat=SEARCH_all&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&Ntk=Products&QueryText=yo+zuri&sort=all&_D%3AhasJS=+&N=0&Nty=1&hasJS=true&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fsearch%2Fsearch-box.jsp.form23&_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1
  15. for a crankbait rod you want a moderate or moderate fast rod for jigs/worms you want a fast action (some use extra fast) rod for shakey jigs and drop shotting an extra fast action rod is generally used im not sure what the general consensus is on spinnerbaits, but i throw them on a fast rod.
  16. id say at least 80% of the time that im fishing, i have a jig tied on so ive decided to start making my own jigs. im looking for a weedless jig other than the round head (already plan on buying that mold) for making finesse jigs. i was looking at the do-it snootie jig molds but i dont like that fact that it doesnt have a skirt collar. do you think this will be a problem when adding skirts? their poison tail jig mold has one but im not sure if im sold on the hook style on those. are there any other companies other than do-it that make good jig molds? id also like to hear your opinion on the snootie and poison jig molds for 1/8,3/16,1/4 and 5/16oz finesse jigs. thanks for the input -z
  17. who, in your opinion, makes the best molds for soft plastics? i want to start out with a senko and trick worm type mold. i was looking at the delmart 6 1/4" Full Round Diamond Tail Worm Mold 5 cavity #16785 http://www.del-mart.com/shop/product.php?productid=16785&cat=319&bestsel... do you think this would make a good trick worm?
  18. like mentioned above you need to speak to his father and find out if he uses a spinning reel or baitcast reel (spinning reels will not fit on baitcasting rods and vice versa). also find out what kind of lure and the weight of lure he uses the most. post that info and your budget on here and should get plenty of replies.
  19. haha. great reply. im guessing the gills would be a good place to start. im kind of confused. CatfishKing2010- what exactly about respiration are you trying to find? how many times per minute they pass water through the gills? a pet shop might be an good place to gather some data if you dont have a large tank nearby. dont use the fish cowering behind the rock as a subject.
  20. im looking into buying a rod for my heavy jigs (i consider anything over 3/8 to be heavy...) and im trying to decide between the Champion and Champion Extreme 704C how much difference in weight is there between the two? Please compare to IMX and GLX if you are familiar with Loomis rods. Also, is there a big difference in sensitivity between the two rods? thanks in advance -z
  21. you could always get a solo canoe and not worry about weighing down the back...
  22. what was the question? hes trying to find the respiration of fish. id check near the gills. its gotta be around there somewhere. let us know if you find it.
  23. bud made a beer with flavor? what other beer would you compare the taste to, burley?
  24. 2 totally different rigs.
  25. X2 if i had to pick an all around jig id choose arkey style heads...
