Thoughts on Mojo's?
who cares that theyre the same graphite as the premier? how is this a "sales jimick" if they are not any more expensive? the mojo gives people looking for a split grip in that price range an option from a great company. good job.

My next rig? Need advice
how much do you want to spend? do you want spinning or casting? alot of people like XF for jigs/plastics. i have yet to try mine. why not buy a med or mh xf rod?

New to DC...Where to go?
a few more to add to the list loch raven (baltimore) - boat rentals start in the spring. been there once had pretty good luck. fountain head (clifton va) - boat rentals start in the spring. ive caught a few 3-4 lbers at the logs about 100 yds left of the boat launch from shore. both my personal bests came from there (6.5lbs for both) fishing weed lines from a rental jonboat shenandoah river (front royal va) - canoe rentals start in the spring. decent smallmouth fishing. recommend downriver canoe company. i havent been there in a few yrs, i heard there have been some fish kills there. riverbend and algonkian park (northern va, potomac river) - no rentals but has both large and smallmouth bass. mattawoman creek (charles county md, potomac river) - never been there but i believe they have boat rentals in the spring and have heard good reviews about the largemouth fishing there.

St. Croix Legend Tournamnet rod
i have the ltbs68mxf with a shimano stradic 2500 but i use flouro or copoly. i think a 2500 size is what most people use. how much do you want to spend on a reel? im not sure what reels are best with braid but for other lines i recommend shimano symetre, daiwa tierra or shimano stradic. i have not used the more expensive reels so i cannot give opinions on those. i have not heard many good things about quantum reels. i believe most people on here will recommend shimano, daiwa and pflueger. you should be able to find a loomis IMX for close to $200 shipped. ive never used the IMX but i hear they are more sensitive than the Legend Tournaments maybe even more than the Elites as well. just something to think about....

Need to upgrade...need help
which ever you use to fish soft plastics and jigs. you want this rod to be as sensitive as possible. my advice would be to buy one IMX and save up for the other rods so you wont have to upgrade later. that being said, i love my avids.

Finesse vs. Ultralight??
ultralight fishing is using an ultralight rod, small reel and small light weight baits. if you are ultralight fishing with a small inline spinner youre not finesse fishing. finesse fishing is typically slow fishing plastics but not necessarily ultra light weights. its typically used when fish are not very active, slowly presenting a bait to entice a bite. (dropshot, shakey head jig, spit shot). using a 1 oz weight to punch through weeds on a drop shot or using a 5/16 oz finesse jig (thin skirt, small trailer) would not be considered ultralight fishing. thats my take on it at least.

loomis bronzeback graphite
is it like some other rods they have, a mixture of gl3 and imx? a friend of mine offered me a great deal on a SMR752S-SP and i thought it might be good for jerk baits (maybe small cranks?). can anyone give me their review on this rod? unfortunately i am out of the country so i cant try it for myself. thanks -z

Giving my Thanks to BassResource.com

next loomis to get?
check out this review... im sure the BCR854 is just as good. http://www.tackletour.com/reviewgloomisjwbcr803.html i personally wouldnt buy a loomis for cranks. i dont think you need IMX/GLX sensitivity for cranks. you have finesse covered so id get: MH XF/F IMX/GLX spinning for plastics (sjr783,bsr803) MH F/XF IMX/GLX casting for 1/4-1/2oz jigs & plastics, light spinnerbaits (BCR803,MBR783c,MBR843c) H F IMX/GLX casting for heavy jigs & plastics, spinnerbaits (MBR844c)

Real Magic / KVD Line-lure spray
there was a thread about this several months back and KVD was a definate favorite. ive only used KVD's formula and i was very happy with it and do not feel the need to try anything else.

Fast vs. Extra Fast
cbreeze22, i may be incorrect as i am stating what i have read. someone please correct me if this is the case.
-
Fast vs. Extra Fast
i just purchased the BSR852. read up on it. a search on the tackletour forums will give you alot to read. i think it might be perfect for weightless plastics if youre looking for a spinning rod.
-
Fast vs. Extra Fast
ive only used one of my xf rods which is a med-light and only made about 50 casts with it but from what ive gathered, the xf rod has a softer tip making it easier to "shake" the lure in place without moving it. xf tips are used mostly for skakey heads, drop shot, jigs and worms. many people would still rather use a fast tip for worms and jigs, however. the softer tip of an xf rod also makes it easier to cast lighter lures. i think most people prefer fast tips for buzzbaits and spinnerbaits and moderate or mod-fast for cranks. again, this is what ive been reading, not from personal experience.

Right or Left?
i learned using right hand. now that i havent been fishing much the last 2 yrs because of my location and have thought about it, i've decided to sell one of my right hand reels and try left. i think i will have better lure control holding the rod with right hand and wont have to change hands after the cast.

good deals on loomis'
Ohya has some pretty good deals on loomis rods. theyre about $85 dollars off for glx and $55 for imx. they also have discounts on the other types. shipping is free. all 3 times i have ordered from them they shipped the same day. im sure you can find them cheaper on ebay but if youre impatient like me and cant sleep until you hit "add to cart" you might appreciate the offers. log into the site with the following: username:customer password:preferred i spoke with jimmy on the website and he said it was ok to give this info out. if this violates bassresource policy i apologize and please delete post.
