  1. This is exactly what I was hoping for. Thank you!
  2. I should have labeled this thread: "Which grasses grow in hard bottoms?"
  3. What I'm asking is for a list of common aquatic plants and their preferred bottom composition. Long winded, but that's what I'm looking for. If anyone has a book or article that they want to suggest, please list it.
  4. I fish those lakes. Where do you live? Bank fishing is tough there this time of year. I have a boat on Green Lane reservoir in East Grenville if you ever wanna go.
  5. Understanding bass behavior is paramount to being a good bass angler. But how much attention do we REALLY pay to habitat? The Devil's in the details, as they say. Let's talk grass/weeds/vegetation: I have heard, but have not researched, that specific grasses grow on specific bottoms, in certain depths, in certain parts of the country. Largies prefer grass, so why wouldn't we as anglers put the time into learning about how/when/if certain grass grows or doesn't. Example: bass like to spawn on gravel or sandy bottoms. An article I read a few months ago was talking about how this one particular pro will visually locate a a particular type of grass vs another because said grass likes to grow on harder bottoms (good spawning habitat) whereas another type prefers mud (aka poor spawning habitat). I never would've thought! Maybe this is something well known and in just late to the dance, but if anyone has any info on types of grass and where they grow, is like to see it!
  6. I'd consider messaging Glenn, Bobby Uhrig, specific people that go every year. Most people on this forum are simpletons like me and don't work in the industry (but would LOVE TO). I would think that this thread would get bombarded with people saying things like, "tell me how those Duckett reels feel" or "tell us what's new from River2Sea"! Enjoy the show, for you're the *** of everyone on this forum!
  7. A few weeks ago my girlfriend signed me up to be a Marshal for the Delaware River Elite Series event (I live in the Philly area). She did this without my knowledge as a surprise. I just got the email confirming that I'm in! I'm so excited! I'm a huge bass fishing nerd and this is a great opportunity to learn something. As for her, she just earned some major "ring" points. Has anyone ever been a marshal before? Is there any tips/advice you want to share?
  8. It's all about how they PERFORM. You could make the argument that there is little that separates most Korean made reels. A different drag system here, different brake system there. But each brand has their own following built strictly on performance to the angler. I can't wait to try these out.
  9. I saw that. VERY disappointed. But they'll come out later this year, I'm sure. No word on how much they weigh, either.
  10. I loved that game! When I was a kid, I used to play it at Chucky Cheese!
  11. Hey everyone! Duckett just posted a few pages from their 2015 catalog showing the new reels. There are two models: the 320, which will retail for $189, 7 bearings, 14lb drag, dual cast control. 360 will have 11 bearings and retail for $250. Other features are listed, but that seemed to jump out first. No word on weight yet.
  12. Works now! Pretty cool! Can't wait to get some!
  13. I have a Browning backpack-style tackle bag. It's great for carrying. It fits four 360/3600 size boxes, but I can slide three extra thin 360 boxes in there. That's for jigs/terminal.
  14. On Duckett's Facebook page, they posted some pics of the FINAL batch of duckett reels! They offer a 320 and a 360 model. No idea on specs, but they're pretty! I'll post details as soon as they do. If someone wants to post pics, by all means go for it.
  15. If you watch "Life on Tour" on YouTube (gander mountain's channel), watch the intro to the Lake Dardanelle episode. There is a close up of Rojas' signature Duckett's. They hence a black blank from the reel seat to the first eye, then it's white. It DOES NOT have micro guides, and he's chucking a chatterbait on it. Looks pretty!
  16. Thanks hook set. Bassmaster just posted all of their tournies thus far this year. Go watch them!
  17. BOOM! Thank you, bassmaster! http://www.bassmaster.com/slideshow/2014-products-debuting-icast
  18. I always had luck with shakeu heads on docks. FAR under docks. Henderson, Lee's and the old Floraine's (new Skeeter dealership).
  19. Nice! What lake is that? I live outside Philly.
  20. I'm a regional sales manager for a pork company, but would LOVE to transition into the tackle industry somehow, someday. I like the idea of talking about and selling tackle in retail, but the money just isn't there, and the hours aren't conducive with family life.
  21. I'm from there, live in Southeast Pa now. Where are you?

  23. Same here. It's a niche bait on shad lakes, but my lakes are bluegill forage. They don't school like shad.
  24. I prefer a 7'3" or shorter myself. Better for skipping.
