Several ideas in this video are worth consideration...

So the topic should be "What's the smallest bass you've caught", because I can think of other "worst" cases, such as having a big fish come off, or seeing and not catching a huge bass, etc. But as far as smallest goes, I think mine takes the cake. I was using a jerkbait around submerged milfoil when I noticed some weed debris on one of the hooks. When I went to clean it off, I noticed it wasn't a weed, it as a bass fry that I was literally skewered on one of the treble hooks! The poor thing wasn't any longer than the width of the fingernail on my little finger! This was before digital cameras were around, so I didn't get a pic of it. But I wish I had!

Yet another reason thrown on top of the large pile of reasons why I never use leaders. I'm similar. Braid for flipping/pitching into heavy cover that includes weeds/wood. But never rocks.

Yes, they do. But there's also an indemnity clause for voluntarily participating in their events too. So that keeps insurance rates down.

^^ Yes! ^^ @Hammer 4 articulated it really well. In the context of the Fall droshotting video, the majority of the fishing would be on deeper structure, which is typically void of vegetation and is rocky. Braid doesn't hold up well against rocks. So that's issue #1. #2, water tends to clear up the further you get into fall. Braid is opaque whereas fluoro, co-poly, and mono are more translucent. #3, braid has no stretch, which can be a benefit for certain techniques, but not ones requiring light-wire hooks such as dropshotting. You need some give (stretch) in the line, else there's a greater potential to pull out the hook and/or bend it on the hookset and while fighting the fish back to the boat. Having a few feet of fluoro leader won't make up for a spoolful of non-stretching braid. Fluoro simply doesn't stretch that much. #4, Although not mentioned in the video, the braid-to-fluoro knot is another point of failure. Just read through these forums and you'll find many heartbreaking stories about failed connecting knots and losing trophy fish. For this reason alone, I cannot fathom why any pro would use leaders during a tournament with so much $$ on the line. I'm sure they have their reasons, but I personally wouldn't risk it. #5, braid has buoyant qualities whereas fluoro is more dense, and therefore does not. This can impact hooksetting ability, sensitivity, as well as the baits' action. The last point is particularly important in regards to dropshotting. The bait needs to look as natural and free in the water. Braid can limit its movement, which could make it look unnatural. With all that said, there are times I definitely use braid when bubba-shotting, which is using a dropshot in heavy cover. In addition, fluoro isn't the only option here. It's not an either/or choice. Co-polymer and even mono can work well for fall dropshotting. I just prefer fluoro due to its sensitivity plus abrasion resistance in rocky structure. Hope that helps!

My club has been in existence since 1938 - long before B.A.S.S. was around. It's never been affiliated with anyone, and has no plans to be affiliated with anyone either - especially now. My advice - go independent. It can be done. We've been doing it for over 80 years!

I really don't understand why people have to get all emotional over it and argue with each other. It's fishing folks. It's supposed to be fun. If instead your blood starts to boil over a conversation about fishing, then perhaps fishing may not be your thing.

@OCdockskipper You need to cool your jets big guy. You're stirring the pot intentionally and then trying to play the victim card. That won't pass with me. Warnings are next.
