MLF Buys FLW!
Whelp, you don't have to like it, or even agree. But that's what a lot of people in the industry are saying. Take it or leave it. No sweat off my back.

MLF Buys FLW!
I fixed it for you. This really isn't "breaking news". Everyone in the industry was talking about this last July during ICAST. We knew it was coming. It's just official now. Let's just say Duckett is very "motivated". B.A.S.S. is on its heels right now because most of the established Elites fled to MLF, and now Duckett intends to put them against the ropes with this move.

Bass Fishing Questions - New Video!
Hey guys - I get a lot of PM's asking various questions about Bass Fishing, some of which are repetitive over time. So I thought I'd put together a video that answers some of them in the hopes it helps you as well. Enjoy!

Balancing Reel When Using Backing
Sometimes us bass anglers tend to over-think things. This is one such example.

Hula grubs
Yep! This is one of my favorite videos, because I caught a nice smallie in the middle of demonstrating how to fish it...

Have you seen this reel yet?
It's worth a look!

My wife saw me do something that made her concerned
To answer your question - I like the smell too. Especially the first bass of the new season.

UnderHand cast
The hill helps, but you need to be up off the ground. I suggest standing on something stable such as a picnic table. I've stood on a 5-gallon bucket before for practicing casts....wouldn't recommend it unless you're as agile as a gymnast.

What does a Chatterbait do that a Spinnerbait can't do better?
Different tools that have similar uses. Both have their merits, and are better than the other depending on the conditions. Kinda like arguing an open-end wrench is better than a crescent wrench and vice versa.

Can bass tell what day of the week it is?
Bass are adaptable. They are accustomed to their environment. So are humans. Think about it. If you live near a busy intersection, highway, or railroad tracks, your first few nights of sleeping are rough. But then you acclimate to it, you sleep like a baby. I used to live in the flight path of a busy airport. After awhile, I didn't notice the background noise. Bass are similar in that way.

Thoughts on wearing a jersey even if you're not in a competition?
If I see a guy on the water wearing a tournament jersey, I presume he's in a tournament. How would I know otherwise? How would anyone know but you that you're not? So.... no big deal if you want to wear it when you're just fishing. I don't think anyone would mind, and nobody would know for the better. Go for it!

changing gear ratios with amount of spooled line?
Well, now for something different... Casting a baitcaster that's less than 70% full can make it more difficult to cast. You could get more backlashes, less accuracy, and less casting distance (because you'll need to tighten down on the cast controls to prevent backlashing). Just another fly in the ointment.

Getting rid of line twist on a spinning reel from the bank?
Best thing to do, is to prevent line twist in the first place. I never have line twist problems, regardless of the type of line I'm using. Here's how I do it:
-
Proper Bunk and Roller alignment
That whole winch setup looks odd to me. It's set too far back, which is why the boat is sitting on the roller - the whole boat is too far back on the trailer. Plus the winch itself is well above the eye on the bow. You're assessment is right - this isn't the original trailer. Worse yet, it's a bad fit. I'd take it to a trailer shop where they can assess whether or not they can customize it to fit your boat, or if you'd be better off getting another trailer.

Carhartt Rain gear
Yep, that's right. I had the models mixed up.

Carhartt Rain gear
I have a Carhart suit. I like the angled cuffs, that's a great design. Yes, they repel water but I haven't been in a long downpour with them, so I can't comment on how dry they'll keep you all day. They run large, probably so you can wear layers underneath without binding. But I kinda feel like I'm wearing a size too large. I think they're a good deal for the $$. That said, they're not designed by anglers, so it's more of an all-purpose suit. I really like the Simm's Challenger rainsuits. They're designed by fishermen, so there's a lot of little things that add up to a better day on the water, such as built-in cloths for wiping our glasses dry, extra pockets for handwarmers, reinforced heels, adjustable hood for running in the rain, and so forth. Plus they're Gortex, so they'll keep you dry all day long. Here's a video I made about mine:
