  1. This is a massive landslide of epic porportions. Several people are dead, nearly 2 dozen are missing. It's also dammed up the river, and they're expecting a breach with flash flooding downstream. it could be devastating.
  2. With all the chatter about creek channels in bass fishing, you'd think every lake has them. The reality is, the majority of lakes with creek channels are man-made. You won't find them in most natural lakes.
  3. Oh heck ya! I have 2 or 3 keys just looking for me to discover what they belong to.
  4. Might want to check out this thread first: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/130613-spybait/
  5. Nope, not at all. But I'd have to fight my instincts to do otherwise. Why? A few years ago I witnessed a head on collision right in front of me. Naturally, I stopped to help, called 911, helped stabilize the victims, directed traffic until the police arrived, etc. What did I get for that? I was harassed by 3 insurance companies, state patrol, local police, and the state department of transportation - multiple times by each for statements...over and over and over again. Then subpoenaed to appear in court multiple times as a witness at my expense (loss of work time). And at one point I was named as a defendant to a lawsuit (which was dropped later). It made it very clear to me that it's not worth the hassles and harassment to get involved in anything. Next time, I'm looking the other way and getting the heck out of there before anyone fingers me as a witness. Sorry, but that's the sad state of today's world.
  6. btw - all the cabins come with a hammock, and satellite TV, and wi-fi, and....well you get the idea.
  7. Here's a few pics of the place where we'll be staying...

  15. The Free Fishing Log found on this site is one I created and started using back in 1989. Not only does it work well as an archive to learn from, but it forces me to pay attention to all the details while on the water.
  16. If you need a car, you need a car, even though you know it's a lousy investment. The value of it plummets quickly, you have to overpay for insurance, overpay for gas and overpay for parking... but if you need a car, bad as an investment as it is, is worth it in it's own, money- draining way... so it makes sense. About a decade ago, the promise of satellite radio was all the rage and when it launched, shares went for about $60 each. Well, reality is that about 2% of radio listeners bother with satellite and now the stocks are worth about $3 a share. Like any stock, satellite radio was a gamble. As far as cars go, they are, in this country in particular, a necessity, so while they suck as an investment, they have a benefit. But then, there are those things that are so incredibly stupid as an investment that it defies logic... take for example the production of currency. It's well documented that a penny is valued at exactly one cent... but it costs 1.9 cents to produce. The nickel is valued at 5 cents, but cost about 9.8 cents to produce. Long and short of it, we lose about $105 MILLION dollars a year producing this stuff. Today's question: WHAT DID YOU PAY FOR IT AND WHAT IS IT WORTH NOW?
  17. Bass fishing superstar (in his own mind) turned Internet sensation, Chigger Brumbalow, shows up at Waffle House. Luke sabotages David's tackle and Stephen fights a case of 'shortitis'. It's all here: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-videos/project-z-3.html
  18. I have two and absolutely love them! They're one of those things that you think you don't need; then you when you get them, you think, "Why didn't I get them sooner?" and could not imagine being without them.
  19. The 701 CAMCB rod is a good all-around crankbait rod. I'd go with that. Did you read these too? http://www.bassresource.com/fishing_lures/pinnacle-DHC5-performa-review.html http://www.bassresource.com/fishing_lures/pinnacle-perfecta-optimus-review.html http://www.bassresource.com/fishing_lures/pinnacle-optimus-xlt-dhc-review.html http://www.bassresource.com/fishing_lures/pinnacle-optimus-XT-perfecta.html http://www.bassresource.com/fishing_lures/review-pinnacle-rod-reel.html http://www.bassresource.com/fishing_lures/perfecta-optimus-review.html http://www.bassresource.com/fishing_lures/rod-reel-pinnacle-review.html
  20. This series is way too cool. Be sure to watch the previous episodes. There's much to learn!
  21. Again, taking a headline and not revealing the story behind it. In the California case you reference, it was related to gang violence between Mexican and American gangs at a high school, The display of shirts with American flags on Cinco de Mayo nearly caused a riot, so the school banned them. The Supreme Court upheld the ruling in favor of the safety of students. I agree with the others - it's a different world than when we grew up. Things are no longer viewed at face value, but rather by the danger they could pose or represent. I also agree the media has overhyped the use of firearms used during crimes. Take note of the recent massacre in China where knives were used to kill people. And there was another incident in China at a school where 20 kids were injured and 1 teacher killed by a knife-wielding man, which happened just a few days after Sandy Hook. Neither incident got much air time on the news - maybe because it was in a different country, maybe because it's not as sensational without a gun.
  22. Yup, I'm with you on this one. My step-mother went from being her normal, happy self to somebody who didn't know what happened 10 minutes ago within a year due to dementia (or alzheimers - the docs don't really know). Now fighting dualing cancers, it's just a short matter of time. It happened all so fast. Heed Roger's words. It matters.
  23. One of two things happened: 1. It landed somewhere and "they" have managed to keep it super secret from the rest of the world. This is extremely unlikely, but conspiracy theorists and gossip mongers love this kind of stuff. They just eat it up and won't let go until proven otherwise. So, the rest of us sane folks get to hear that nonsense-babble until they find the wreckage from... 2. It crashed somewhere. I'm going with #2. Can't wait until they find it so the speculating, rumors, and gossiping can stop. I hate that crap.
