  1. Throw a Texas rigged plastic - Senko, tube, worm, Brush Hawg, etc. Work it through the cover and watch your line for the strike. I'd also work a Pop-R or buzzbait across the laydowns. A 1/8oz white spinnerbait burned just under the surface could be a killer deal as well. I wouldn't advise live bait. You run the risk of introducing a non-native species to your stream, which could really harm the fishery in the long run. Best be safe and use artificials instead. Welcome to the forums!
  2. Just read this thread - happy belated birthday Mike!

  5. Read the Senko FAQ's. Lot's of information there about colors.
  6. I used to tow a 600lb 15' boat with a hitch on the bumper of a '74 Camaro. It worked just fine, but I wouldn't go any heavier than that. I think about 200lbs tongue weight is about all you want to have. It's super easy to weigh tongue weight on small rigs like that - just put a scale under the front wheel.
  7. Try a #1 or 1/0 for the 3" tube, a 2/0 for the 4" tube. I like to get the hook as far back as possible without touching the skirt.

  14. Please welcome our newest sponsor, Mercury Marine! Really they don't need an introduction, as they are well-known amongst us. They are introducing a new high-performance propeller. Click their banner and check out this new design - it's pretty cool. And please help me welcome them aboard!
  15. I love this scale. Had mine for a few years now, and had it checked for accuracy through several weight ranges - it 100% accurate. Easy to use, easy on the fish... by far the best scale I've every had!

  17. Glenn, What part of the world do you live in? Even in MN the water temps are well into the 60's at least. We're up in Seattle. Our spring has been very cold and wet, averaging 10-15 degrees below average for this time of year. Some lakes are around 60, but those are the small shallow ones. Today and tomorrow we're supposed to have sunshine and mid-70's (FINALLY!!). So maybe that'll be enough to get the largemouth up on beds this weekend. Sorry... didn't mean to hijack the thread. Carry on.

  19. I'm hoping someday I'll get to try one. Water temps are still in the mid 50's right now. I prefished last weekend and the lake temps were even 49 degrees in some areas. This weather is just nuts! :-/
  20. First check to ensure one of the skirt strands or a piece of vegetation didn't wrap around the swivels attached to the blades. If that checks out ok, then hold the bait by the nose, with the bait hanging down. Now flick the blades and see if the spin....alot. They should spin fast and first, gradually slowing down. The longer it takes for them to stop, the better. If they turn only a few times and then stop, replace the swivel with a Sampo swivel.

  24. I've seen the whole video where this clip comes from. I think it was a documentry I stumbled upon once while flipping channels. It's somewhere in the south seas, way out in the middle of nowhere. Some sort of bizzare formation of underwater land makes these waves appear out of nowhere in the middle of the ocean. Only the World's Best surfers can even attempt these mammoth waves. Impressive.
