  1. Ok guys, the same things are getting repeated over and over here. So let's move on. fyi - there's a ton of articles on this site in the "about bass" section regarding limits, selective harvest, keeping bass vs. release, etc. etc. Great insight on how it all works together to make a very healthy fishery. Thanks! Glenn
  2. And since there will be no discussing the matter, I am locking this thread.
  3. Well, since you have all that time on your hands, let's be fair. Go look at ALL the anglers and their claims about their sponsors, and then validate them all. I mean REALLY validate - don't just look at a couple of pictures in a magazine and then come to a conclusion. Even if your assumptions are true, singling out one person, when they're ALL doing it, is severely biased and unfair. Also, perhaps it can be read that he couldn't have done it without their support and sponsorship? Or perhaps he used it during the Classic, you just didn't see it when the cameras were rolling? Oh my - a pro hiding a "secret" lure/technique/tool when cameras are around during the championship of all competitions - NO WAY!! Quite possibly the same reason you didn't see it in other photos too. My, how easy it is to judge people based off a couple of pictures, without every knowing the man or speaking to him. Who has "integrity" at this point? Sorry to be so harsh, but these guys work their butts off every day getting, and retaining, their sponsors... going to appearances all across the country.... doing interviews, commercials, books, videos... oh and fishing tournaments at the highest level of competition. Oh and maybe they get to see their family every now and then, just to remind them who they are. Sometime their kids don't even recognize them. Then one person takes it upon himself to try to make him look bad because he has more time on his hands than he knows what do with. This is integrity? Give me a break! FlyPhisher, I'm sorry about your injury. I know it has you cooped up and you're unable to do the things you love to do. It must suck, and I can empathize. But please - don't ever start judging others, especially the pros, without fully understanding all the hard work and effort they put into their careers. You wouldn't want an armchair quarterback judging your career moves the same way.
  4. I've heard that lake is a bit polluted, so enjoy catching AND RELEASING those bass (wouldn't want you to get sick). As for my experiences - put on 45+ SPF before you step outside and reapply often, I don't care who you are. I usually don't even tan if I put 8 on, and I fried with 30 spf there! Put the 55 on last time I was there and was fine. As for other entertainment: you might want to hit Germaine's luau - try the poi! The Ala Moana shopping center will keep the wife happy - you could spend all day there. And a visit to the Polynesian center is not bad. An absolute MUST in my book is Pearl Harbor. You really have to take the boat ride over and experience the memorial first hand. Words cannot describe it.
  5. I got it was a joke from the first post. Thought it was a fun bit of dry humor. I've discovered myself I can catch just as many dinks with expensive gear as I did with the bargain buys.
  6. I think he's hunting down that lead about Wal-Mart buying FLW, and Johnny Morris heading it up!
  7. I think that says it all. Instead of posting negative comments and ragging on someone, talk about who you like and why. Life is too short. Focus on the positive.
  8. There's no room in ANY sport for people like that! I'm glad they escorted them away in handcuffs! Hope they got fined, and then forced to sweep the track with a toothbrush! Earnhardt Sr. is a legend, no doubt, and he certainly earned his respect, but it's time to stop living in the past. Records are made to be broken. Get over it! Also, I think Gordon was extremely respectful of Earnhardts' record when he paid tribute to him last week. He could have taken the moment to be "all about me", but instead took the opportunity to acknowledge The Man and his accomplishments. Class act.
  9. Not sure where this is headed. A few tangents, and no direction. Let's at least keep it on topic (read the first post if you need a refresher). And.... let's be careful not to throw out generalities and stereotypes here. Remember, you're speaking about Americans, and what makes this country so great. So keep it positive. We get enough negativity every day from the media, workplace, etc.
  10. I prefer to wear a hooded sweatshirt. Got hit in the back of the neck and head a few times. Once I started wearing that, it didn't hurt nearly as bad. Wear colors that will help you blend in.
  11. I'm letting this run... so far. Be very careful to answer the question only. And that's it. Comments about your spiritual beliefs or those of others.... that's not the topic of this thread. The mods and I have our fingers on the "lock thread" button. So if you don't want it locked, don't give us any reasons.
  12. Does your trailer have surge brakes? Perhaps they're sticking. When they heat up a little, it frees them up? Along those lines, if you do have surge brakes, carefully check around the hitch area to see if anything is lodged in there that would prevent the brakes from working properly. Sometimes marine shops will jerry-rig it to make it easier to push around the lot. And since you just took it in to have work done on it.... Plus, if the lot was a dirt area with rocks in it, or you launched at a dirt ramp recently, you may have a rock lodged in between the calipers (happened to me once). Just a thought.
  13. Please read the FAQ and Help sections, which explain how you can link to your own site. Thanks!
  14. Before jumping to conclusions, ask him about it. If he's really like a brother, then this won't drive a wedge between you. In fact, he may be wanting to talk to you about it, but doesn't know if you'll judge him or not. For some people, just getting it off their chests diffuses the whole situation. So ask him about it!
  15. WOW! That's really cool ! Hey, maybe I can find my lost youth that way... or maybe my hairline or something mumble mumble mumble.....
  16. Glitch. Hate to say it, but occasionally data gets corrupted every now and then. This can sometime affect member information. I routinely run "clean up" programs to restore the data. If you've ever seen the "...only the admin can log in right now..." sign, that's what I'm doing (you can't rebuild member's data if they're logged in). So, ya, you got hit by the data bug. Sorry about that. Glad it was restored, however.
  17. That has GOT to be the first time I've seen Judas Priest and REO Speedwagon in the same sentence! ;D
  18. I saw them during the Eliminator tour. Good stuff! Love the old tunes!
  19. Well, let's not get into stereotyping.... or complaining/ranting. Focus your energy on solutions. I've seen all walks of life litter - sometimes by accident ("Hey there, you dropped something!", "Oh, Oops! I didn't realize it fell out of my handful of stuff I'm carrying."). And ya, some folks are just plain rude and don't care. So.... what do you suggest to solve the problem?
  20. Ok guys - enough! This has gone over the edge regarding political topics.
  21. I'm not a big fan of Howard's Forums. There's a lot of "experts" there dishing out wrong or incomplete information. You can end up ruining your phone following some of the advice there, and then the carrier will not honor any warranties. And the ones claiming to have "insider information"? HA!!! What a joke! So... be very careful following any advice regarding changing the settings on phone. For encoding audio files, Howard's Forums isn't a great source of info anyway. They're all about phones, not audio encoding.
  22. I absolutely agree with RW, and cannot/will not argue with Muddy. I think the point was madw about the majority/minority ratio. The minority have a nearly impossible task of changing the Bill of Rights. I'm more concerned about the way the world percieves America. Those of you who have been overseas know that America, in general, is viewed as a nation of lawless, violent, selfish citizens. Yes, there are absolutely exceptions, so don't start citing them. I'm just saying as a general rule, America doesn't have a great global image right now. This whole incident just adds fuel to that thinking. I could continue on that thought, but then I would diving into world politics - against my own dang rule! LOL!
  23. Oh, so then it IS true that owners look like their pets! So sorry! I couldn't resist!
  24. Sounds like you guys are getting the weather we had last fall. But at least you still have power. Count your blessings and hunker down!
