  1. Well folks, I gotta close this thread. Seems a few folks have taken offense to a few things said and done on this thread, and now I'm getting complaints. I was afraid this was going to happen. An emotional topic like this is bound to hit the nerves of a few people. Sorry.
  2. Hey BassChaser57, ever go back to the guy who duped you and beat him about the head with LBH? ;D ...or maybe it's time to come clean with us and admit you were just trying to stir things up around here. :
  3. I'd recommend taking a wait-n-see approach with any of the Vicious line of products (they're coming out with more than just line soon). I've heard enough insider "gossip" that I wouldn't recommend them at the moment. Wish I could elaborate, but their lawyers might be lurking. Suffice to say, I'd put my trust in more established brands for now.
  4. Like I always say, it takes a big man to cry. ....but it takes an even bigger man to laugh at him!
  5. My wife is one of them! She spends more at BPS and I do!
  6. HAVE FUN!!!!
  7. I would borrow the neighbors phone for a few minutes, swap it with yours, and see if it works. If it does, then it's the phone. If not, then it's the line. If it's the phone, then Muddy may be onto something, so it's either try that or replace the phone. If it's the line, then have the phone company fix it.
  8. Easy fellas. Let's keep in mind the rule regarding religious/political posts. I would really hate to have to edit/delete things here, so let's not go there.
  9. Avid - Glad to hear you're on the mend and that they didn't accidentally remove an appendix or pancreas or something. Rest well and you'll be back in action sooner than you realize. Wa, WHAT!?! George!? You ok? What's up?
  10. Robert, you're too kind. I'm just a simple guy who loves to fish. I really enjoyed the conversations I had with you and Willowmeenia (I'm certain I spelled that wrong!). You're a fun couple and a class act. I had a great time. Hope we can do it again sometime! Glenn
  11. The problem with this story STILL circulating the Internet is that everyone seems to leave out all of his apologies and actions afterward (such as getting the owner convicted in court). This is why I hate rumors and "smack talk" about pros and celebrities. They're only part of the truth, and not the whole story. So let's focus on the positive results he achieved, as well as other positive aspects/individuals of the sport.
  12. Agreed. Just last weekend I hit a board floating in the middle of the river. Heard the "THUMP!" as I passed over it, but fortunately no damage to the skeg or prop. But if I had an external transducer mounted on the back like you did, then it's goodbye transducer. Glad to hear Humminbird is taking care of you. And as for the punctuation - just our way of saying "Welcome Aboard!"
  13. Hello, I am looking for one person who would like to join the BassResource.com team, right along the ranks of the moderators. This is not a new moderator position, however. This has to do with the rest of the site. Namely, the protection of copyrighted material. Since its ***, BassResource.com has vigorously defended its copyrights. The Internet makes it all too easy for somebody to copy and paste an article, in its entirety or in part, and then republish it on their website, often claiming the content as their own. This is nothing new - it's been happening since the site launched. I have been the one finding the offenders and enforcing our copyright ownership and protecting our brand. Over the years, I have filed thousands of complaints, and won them all - sometimes resulting in the elimination of the offending sites. Several hundred have been shut down over the past decade as a result. I take copyright infringement seriously. Those that steal from my site, pay dearly. That said, a disturbing trend has surfaced on the internet that involves splogs, scrapers, feeds and other technological advanced tools that are doing this automatically at an alarming rate. Suffice to say, I cannot keep up with the volume of copyright violations. I need help. I'm looking for a voluteer who has the following qualifications: Very technically adept - experience with advanced search techniques is a must as is knowledge/experience with various web codes (HTML, Javascript, ASP, etc.). Knowledge/use of RSS feeds, alerts, etc. a plus. Willingness/ability to work on this daily at least 1-2 hours on average. This is a long-term comittment. Only qualified individuals who wish to do this over the long haul will be considered. A passion for this site is a must. Knowledge of electronic copyright/trademark laws a plus, but not mandatory I will provide you with the means/tools to seek out copyright infringement and the offendors behind them - especially those that try to hide their identity (they can't hide). You will also be given the means to shut down the sites, remove them from all the major search engines, and remove them from Google AdSense, Yahoo's Publisher Network, Commission Junction, AdBrite, etc. I will provide guidance, tools, and training every step of the way. If you like to bust the bad guys, this can be a very rewarding and fun experience - PROVIDED you understand that occasionally you WILL encounter the defiant, abusive person who believes they have a right to steal your content (because they believe everything on the Internet is free for the taking). They don't believe copyright laws apply to them. These are the ones that are fun to shut down. PM me if you're interested in becoming a proud member of the elite BassResource.com crew and help the site grow for years to come! Thanks! Glenn
  14. Nitro - sometimes funny jokes when said in person just don't come across the same way in written form. This is one of those times.
  15. Hi and welcome! If you do a search on the forums for "snakes" or "hannon", you'll see there's a number of posts about these lures. They should answer your questions. (just click the search button near the top of the page to get started) Thanks!
  16. You'll get your answers MUCH quicker if you read through the FAQ. Enjoy, Thanks!
  17. Chris, Sorry, but it seems to be just you. Is it slow for you both at work AND at home, or just at work? I'm guessing work, because I experience problems at work accessing ANY forum using YaBB. I attribute that to our freakish, over-protective IT department and their myriad of firewalls, spyware bloatware LAN desk software, virus software, etc... a virtual fortress to keep us from using our computers and getting any work done!
  18. So the problem is all the member's files and message files need to be chmod'd 666 in order for the history function to work properly (amongst other things). The problem is, whenever I change them... in the amount of time it takes me to run the "rebuild history list" maintenance functions, something on the server reverts them to 644, thus preventing the histories from being built (and fixed). This issue is also affecting other areas of the site. Like LBH said, I'm working on it. Sorry this is taking so long folks. But the fact-of-the-matter is, this site is far more complicated than it appears on the surface. It takes a lot of time to hunt down bugs. So bear with it for awhile. I'm doing the best I can.
  19. Glenn replied to Deb's topic in Everything Else
    Game over man! GAME... OVER!!
  20. Finally! http://www.bassresource.com/fishingstore/index.php Enjoy!
  21. A sweaty boy band. That's just great.
  22. I have 3 of the high-end Revo's. They make my Chronarchs look ancient. They're awesome reels. Abu-Garcia has really stepped up to the plate on these, as I've owned a great many of their reels in the past to compare to. The Revo's are a whole new class compared to previous Garcia's. Caught my 8 and 9 pounders on Fork on the same reel. I owe that to the smooth drag. I'll be buying several more for sure!
  23. I didn't quite mean it THAT way Long Mike. But the reality is, everyone has their favorite places, so there's really no way to for a large group to come to a decision that everyone likes. It just won't happen. So I'm saying let's not open that can of worms. The mods and I will decide on a place. If you can make it, great! If not, then there's the following year, or the year after. The goal is to have it at a different place each year so that everyone will have a chance to go and/or fish their favorite lake. Jeez Mike, don't make it sound so harsh. I mean, they don't decide the Classic locations by having 600,000+ BASS members vote on it now do they? They have a small committee that decides. It's not a dictatorship, it's doing what's reasonable and feasible so that they can plan ahead. We could have a humongous, endless thread here with everyone chirping in on what lake they want to fish - with no decision ever being made. Or the mods and I can come to a decision within a short amount of time so we all can get on with the planning.
  24. Just as I thought - about as many lake suggestions as members. Exactly the reason why I don't want to put it up to a "vote", and the reason why the mods squad and I haven't discussed it publicly yet. Rest assured, we're working on some locations. Understand we have some "help" in this area as well (guides, accomodations, boat rentals, group rates, etc.). If the mods and I cannot come up with a clear winner, then we'll put the top 2 or 3 to a "vote", complete with critera and pros/cons of each location. Date TBD, but most like right after the Classic, before the next major FLW/BASS tournament. So early-mid March.
