  1. Funny you should say that about line twist, I've noticed my President has the worst line twist problem of any reel I've ever owned. The Trion I own isn't as bad but I have a smaller version of it, the 4730GX, and also only 8 lb. line on it (maybe those two factors effect it for the better somehow). The President is the 6735 size and has 10 lb. line and it's horribly twisted after a few trips. Used this reel for years ; this is what I do with any spinning gear: It works 100% of the time 1. make sure your line goes onto the reel spool , in the same direction it comes off the feeder spool 2.Never, ever reel while the fish is taking drag 3. Use a swivel on the tag end of your line. A good quality swivel ( no snaps! JUST SWIVELS) at the tag end of your line with at least a 12 inch leader to the bait.
  2. Depends on what you define as Best and Why If you are looking for an abundance of dinks I got some spots for you, everywhere I fish I do not like large bodies of water. I want to fish a few of the Natural Lakes of Minnesota ( not so exotic) and if I do I will try to have at least one day with a guide.
  3. Who carries that scale
  4. Depends on what type of pile we are talking here

Give RobbyZ5001, right here a shout. He did the same thing and is in his senior year at Penn State
  6. Can-nards: The innards of a can. And they are NOT fancy, readily available: Dinty Moore, Progresso, Campbell's, ... Seriously...Canards are small wings used (as far as I know) on submarines and jet fighters. I guess they act as stabilizers too, which I suppose is not what you'd want on a crankbait. They would add diving plane area, but probably not allow much wiggle. Unless Big M gets busy and get's creative with 'em. Who knows? A 2" plug that can achieve 30feet on 17# and a 30 foot cast?! Like those little wings on the old Timber Cranks?
  7. Well with you in Cali at least the goats in VA get a break:SEE BURLEY"S THREAD ;D
  8. Canards?????--some type of French Dessert? ;D
  9. MOOK: this is the version that was taught to me, and handed down to generations of fellas in South Brooklyn In the 50's, on the Honeymooners show Norton was supposed to call Ralph a MOAX, I think that is the spelling. He accidentally said MOOK; it caught on in Brooklyn it seems , then died down In 1973 Martin Scorsese released MEAN STREETS, a really great film about some younger wannabees, growing up around the mob, in Little Italy circa late 50's early 60's. It was originally a student film project! In one scene Di Nero owes a bookie named Paulie some money and he and Kitel go a pool hall to pay him. When they are walking up to said pool hall, DiNero confesses to Kitel he has spent the money, Paulie was not too pleased. A fight ensues and at one point a big gorilla , working for Paulie has one of them in a head lock and screams out A mook, you can't call me a mook, HEY PAULIE WHATS A MOOK? In the background, is a TV in the scene and you got it THE HONEYMOONERS IS PLAYING!! MOOK became hot again in my South Brooklyn Neighborhood! We all instantly became MOOKS. Over the years it has also gained some generic uses I will list a few Mook: normal every day friend, in my hood it replaced Pisano. When we saw each other it would be' What's up Mook MOOK; Unskilled labor: our block had a lot of bricklayers (Italians) and carpenters (Irish) and they would do side jobs. THE GASLIGHT; local saloon would have notices hung up; Side job: need 2 brick guys, a carpenter and 2 MOOKS: laborers, not derogatory MOOK; stupid move. As in guy falls off bar stool, the guy next to him; THAT WAS A MOOK MOVE Getting MOOKED; getting kidded or teased. Suit Mooks: Lawyers and Wall Street types Stoop Mooks: Stoops are concrete stairs leading to the brownstones we grew up in. Nosy old ladies, gossipers and unemployed folks hanging out on them. WINDOW MOOKS: About the same, except hung out of window Most of the time Mook is a good and noble thing!
  10. That's why we hung a cowbell around your neck~ ;D
  11. And you do it in a great way. No confusion, good to see ideas coming from all angles. We all fish from different perspectives, the more in the mix the better!
  12. I feeling ya dawg, but the ABU revival got me aching for an old Mitchell and Fish for Dollars has one coming this way
  13. Mark has that outfit for a year; he has even caught a small pike on it, no problems I am about to join the club with you two: I have a 308 coming from Texas soon, putting it on a GT myslef 8-)
  14. This is about as simple as it gets when a bait comes out of the box. The factors not mentioned in getting a bait to max depth straight out of the box. Line diameter(size) casting distance Rod position during retrieve All important factors on getting a baits to max running depth. SON OF A %^#!#!!!!!!!! You mean you are supposed to take them out of the box:: NO WONDER I HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS!!!!!!!
  15. or something I am going to go out and learn next week with a friend who does this. Do it the other way around: use a balsa crank and C rig it, gonna give it a shot.
  16. Hey Matt: some good points. I was looking at custom baits, nice paints, but really that is about all that separates them from quality Bagels and such. There are some incredible paint jobs, real artistic and realistic stuff. But in the end it's the action for me, and I found some Bagleys that rock! Now Matt: if I want to throw a wood crank, other than balsa, what would you throw to get it down into 15 ft of water.
  17. Dunno Raul; maybe>>Bassmaster has been reincarnated ;D
  18. At my Age PP breaking can mean something else entirely~
  19. Does this involve scantily clad women in shoulder pads???? well that's my idea of fantasy
  20. Fenwick GT Eagle 6'6" , med action, one piece. Wont send you back a lot, but a good match, my friend Mark has this same outfit and it really goes together nice Please take the reel to a shop and put it on any rod you consider, because in the end you have to be comfortable with your choice.

  22. Big fish, or Best 5 stringer? Overnight? Hope you bring home a fat check 8-) feel bad for the goats; with Dan in Cali you would think they were safe this week
  23. Here ya go; 2.49 from Cabelas http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/common/search/search-results1.jsp?_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1&selectedPerPage=&hasJS=true&_D%3AhasJS=+&_D%3Asort=+&sort=all&Ntt=jig+eye+paint+remover&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fsearch%2Fsearch-box.jsp.form1
  24. I switched all 4 rigs over now. My cranking reel is an early 70's black 5000C, with the white handles. WHAT A REEL, in practically new condition, ISSUE: can I get the drag updated on this It is the only thing that I am having trouble with. I caught several bass , all around 2 lbs and the drag is the old click one and I had to thumb the spool to turn the fish. I have a all the original spare parts, etc , just want to know if an upgrade is possible, at the end of this season.
