  1. Hey Fellas; what a shame and my team is part of it. I just received Mike Lupica's Shooting from the Lip Sunday Column( best NY Daily News Sport's writer) and he pointed out this. The Luxury Tax( MLB's version of revenue sharing) has a clause in it that if you build a new park you are somehow relieved from paying all of it for a while. So both teams go out and pay for the best free agents out there, and go over limit, and are excused from their tax, widening the gap even more between the small and big market teams, I am not feeling this one :-/ ps; They already have breaks on taxes not to mention taxpayer dollars involved in the construction of both parks.
  2. Actually that's a cable issue, not DSL. Y'all don't say so
  3. Check this out Cart: 1. This summer two maitainace workers were assigned to pick up luggage for some depating students and leave them in my office, on flight up. They were having a hard time with the bags, as they were heavy and many in number. I got up and helped them Result: They filed a grievance because management was doing a union job! 2. For the last 5 months HR had to share out building and offices because of a spring flood causing huge mold problems in their building. When it was time for them to move last week, maintenance was swamped so I put some boxes for them in my pickup and took it over to their building. The poor folks who do so much for us were working out of small offices and said boxes, and I wanted to give them a hand Result: Same grievance, from same Mook!

  8. ......and to think he got paid a dollar a word for that
  9. Isn't it incredible that as our standard of living goes up our quality of life goes down When I was growing up, we used to bring dishes over to the houses that were struggling every night. We swept our whole block every Saturday and played stick ball until we dropped. We used to sleep on the roofs, pre air conditioning , in the summer. We had unbelievable parents and I lived on a block where most of my Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and both sets of grandparents did and we ate together every Sunday. Now we see each other on Holidays and funerals, don't hardly know the neighbors, so how do we know who is having a hard time. The AC keeps us behind closed doors and kids play against machines You make a good point .
  10. Thanks mook, and to you also. Someday I know we will be calling you Dr.Hookem
  11. Oh my God , now your dreaming about Russ!!!!!
  12. Absolutely! The thing is how do we all say when it is fair?On our site, and you need to know I was in the union before my promotion. This is what they have; 2 to 5 weeks a year paid vacation ( at 10 years you max out at 5 per) 2 weeks sick pay ( you can carry up to 240 hours),starting pay 10 bucks an hour( 2 dollars better than most in area), Health plan for 38 per month,401 K if you choose, dental, eyeglasses, 8 holidays and 2 floating holidays( Opening day of Deer season and Trout Season!) and tuition reimbursement. Now the union wants more control over the schedule and more OT, after they just grieved the fact that there is too much OT and mandating going on. They used more sick time as a unit then they accrued So you see Gene Unions do bring good benefits for the worker, they also make relationships good, because your decisions as management, are guided by the negotiated contract. There are always a few mooks on either end that go too far in either direction.

  14. He and Pedro Martinez have a resreved room at NYU hospital, should be good for 5 stays each!
  15. Hey Gene; where you live the standard of living is in good proportion to your expenses. Try living in NYC, or LA or Chicago, on what you make. I have a friend who is an RN, was making 27 bucks an hour here, moved to a unionized state/job in New Jersey , wage 87 bucks an hour. She has a much larger work load, and a steeper mortgage and i can tell you if there was no union they would not be able to make that kind of dough. It is different in various parts of the country I make small money at what I do, but then again my rent is 375 a month all included, in NYC the same Apt. would be 1,200 a month. Different situations call for different protections for the work force.
  16. Just fry it in some Bacon Grease and put some Cheez Whiz on a hunk of bread and go to your local ER and eat it right there. it will save you money for the life-flight
  17. Computers, third world economic growth and a population shift have created a world market. There is no turning back now. We need a collective thinking , and working leadership now, if we are going to be among the stewards of things to come. Maybe it's because I grew up in one of America's biggest melting pots SOUTH BROOKLYN, but I see a collection of individuals much strong then one standing alone. I also have a lot of faith in America, as a man much greater than most once said "I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts" -Abraham Lincoln
  18. Hey Mook: they factor in the equation, but much more so was the stubborness of management not to change their product base, or to see the obvious: SHORTAGES OF SUPPLY>> real or not OPEC has us by the onions controlling the flow. They needed to move away from those big SUV's and Pickups and more hybrids. THEY WAITED TOO LONG so the onus lies way more with management. Why do you think the feds are so reluctant to give them money?
  19. Hey interaction, even with an adversary edge is all cool, no bother, Sorry if I made you uncomfortable on any level but it is all good in the hood. Disagreement doesn't mean confrontation.
  20. I am feeling you there, it seems that America faces the next worse situation with the next best idea 8-)
  21. Heck I am more afraid of things tanking and LBH moving onto my couch!
  22. Well if that's the way youre gonna be:
  23. The economy is in a far more precarious place if not a more dangerous place than the Carter years! There are some similarities, a fuel crisis a front at Afghanistan, double digit inflation and the Fed manipulating Inflation. Volker and company managed to get that inflation to subside after costing many their jobs Today we have 2 fronts, e fuel crisis compounded by investors manipulating that market, a depressed housing industry, an auto industry at the brink of disaster, and the collapse of some of the main players in our economy and the resultant freeze on lending, it has the potential of being much worse.
  24. That's just not right
  25. Hey Fourbizzle QUESTION: If man evolved from apes, how come there are still apes?
