  1. Did those guys do very good? I’m guessing they did well in the spring and fall and struggled the rest of the year?
  2. I use an slx on a 6’6 medium action lightning rod with either 8 or 10lb big game Mono. Not fancy at all but I feel I can work the bait just fine and I never break off on fish and I basically never have them come loose so it works for me.
  3. Really appreciate it, my PB came out of a large cove full of standing timber this past November and I cannot wait to hit it again from my float tube when the water warms up and the fish get a little more aggressive. I’m going to grab 5 or 6 traps, do some map research, and hit it hard this spring.
  4. One of the lakes I fish is loaded with standing timber and giant bass, do you usually just use the half ounce size? Do you fish them in standing timber all year? Any other pointers? Lipless baits are something I haven’t had a lot of success on yet but I’m going to give them a fair shot this spring.
  5. And pick up leaves, moss, and muck almost immediately in my experience but just gliding it near the bottom avoids all that.
  6. I have some old glamour Shad spinnerbaits I bought new in package, it seems like everything I could find about them was atleast 10 years old and you couldn’t find a negative word written about them. All the skirts instantly fell off when I took them out of the package so I guess it’s just a normal occurrence for skirt collars that old, I just bought some awesome new skirts for them and went on with my day.
  7. Jerkbaits have been awesome to me from the bank and float tube, if you are careful you won’t loose many. I’ve started fishing the h2o ultimate jerkshads in more snaggy areas because they are so cheap and loosing a lucky craft hurts big time. I will fish a jerkbait all day even if I don’t get any bites because I know that if I do get bit there is a real chance it’s gonna be a good one.
  8. I put the menace more in the craw category personally, do you swim them on a ball head like you would a single tail grub? I haven’t tried it but flipping/dragging a summer craw menace is something that will always get me a bite.
  9. Lightning rods are awesome for $40!
  10. I think I’m gonna give it a shot, I hate trying new line and never really fish flouro but I think it’s time to give it another shot. Anyone know if I will be okay using a palamor knot with floro?
  11. Has anyone tried this stuff out yet? Saw it at Walmart yesterday, I will probably pick up a spool the next time and see how it goes regardless.
  12. All I know is that when I hooked my PB and had to pull it through a flooded forest I was really wishing I had better hooks on the bait. If I was in open water and could play the fish it wouldn’t have been a big deal but by the time I got her in three of the hook points were bent to crap, I could have easily lost that fish due to bent hooks and that wouldn’t have been a problem if I put better hooks on the bait. Prepare for the big one so that when she bites you have the best chance of getting her in, I would still be crying over that fish if it would have gotten off. With that said a lot of baits these days come with hooks that are just fine to me, it’s just those crazy thin jerkbait hooks that I’ve started changing out consistently.
  13. Have you thought about just getting a standard lightning rod? I actually really like them for the price.
  14. I bet boss has some finesse football heads, their jig heads have skirt keepers too but honesty if you don’t put a skirt on it it will just act as part of the bait keeper. I use their swim jig heads as swimbait heads and they work great, have a great hook, and are dirt cheap. Edit found some. You can buy them cheaper without the weed guard and just glue it in yourself https://www.fishingskirts.com/product-category/boss/boss-standup-football-head/
  15. Do you have problems with the tails getting kinked in the box? I hate carrying around 10 clamshells and the tails end up kinked anyway because the clam shells are so thin and cave in so easily.
  16. Bringing this thread back to life, just picked up two at academy after breaking off my last one. I’ve just started using these and have seen decent results so far. Is anyone still fishing these things? If so how do you like them? Watching them in the water they have a nice super wide “glide” on a hard jerk and a nice lunge on a softer jerk.
  17. Hope you catch some today, it’s cold but not he lack of wind is nice.
  18. Luckily fishing is one of two main hobbies I have so when I tire from one I just pick the other back up. My brain doesn’t let me not be obsessed with something unfortunately/fortunately.
  19. I usually go fishing because I like to catch fish but the other day I went after work because I had a hard day. I didn’t focus too much on catching and was basically just casting and reeling a spinnerbait, venting to myself, and listening to music. Didn’t catch anything but I enjoyed myself more than I have in awhile, sometimes I take it too seriously but it’s hard not too when you are so obsessed ?
  20. Sweet definitely gonna pick up a few for spring fishing, I’m guessing our lakes/fish are pretty similar.
  21. The chompers 5 inch is a pretty decent size, maybe a little bigger than the Yamamoto 5 inch?
  22. Do you catch a lot of fish in them? I’ve been wanting to add a small bluegill swimbait to the Arsenal and can’t decide weather to get the savage gear or the mattlures u2
  23. Caught my PB on one, I may never catch a bigger bass than that actually. Just curious do you have an opinion about the old vs the new stx baits? Have you fished the h20 ultimate jerk shads? I picked one up the other day and I am actually really impressed with the action and have hooked a couple on it too.
  24. Just curious, what are your go to jerkbaits?
  25. I for the life of me can’t figure out why trailer hooks are needed on a spinnerbait, they either hit them or they don’t in my area. Plus it makes them snag easier and that’s a big deal to me, I hate ruining a good cast and/or loosing a good bait.
