  1. Wow, its not often you find boys from the Upstate on the national forums talkin about local lakes, especially Hartwell and the other Savannah River lakes. I love Hartwell, especially during the spring and fall. Hard to beat the swimbait there, both hard and soft ones. Guys, pm me, I would love to talk about bait selections for the lakes y'all fish and compare notes. I've never fished Keowee, but my grandpa won 4 tournys in row there with his club over a 4 year span on a particular bait. The number one rule of thumb for all Savannah River lakes is to follow the herring and match the bait color. If you do this, then you will consistently catch bass, and big ones. Skey, what areas of Hartwell do you usually fish. I tend to fish the main lake areas, unless its during the spawn. Im almost positive you can get on the rocky points and catch dozens of coosa or redeye bass right now out there on the main lake, and they tend to run in packs, so you can usually load the boat real quick. Y'all boys are a little farther north than me, but I got a hunt and fishin club pond thats full of fish in Union, SC, and if y'all are ever in the area message me and we can take a trip out. That pond usally averages bout 20-30 bass a trip, and during certain times of the year 100 bass days arent uncommon during peak times. Glad to see some local boys on the forums. Stay in touch guys.
  2. I agree 100%, but you left out one of the most important characteristics.....the rattle. I tried adding a rattle to the spros and the H20 Express frogs and they sink.
  3. Academy H20 Express line has black pop-r's that have a loud rattle in them. I love thier pop-rs because they walk similar to a spook and they have a rattle in them. I've been doing really well lately on the bluegill color pop-r, but am leaning towards a black pop-r for my night tournys. Plus, they only cost 3.79.
  4. I was at Lake Murray yesterday and it was slam full of boaters everywhere, with alot of idiots driving around not adhering to boating rules. It is unfortunate that this happened.
  5. Take a Gamakatsu Skip Gap Shakey Head, its made for larger shakey heads, and use a Zoom Magnum Trick Worm. Its a huge bait and it really looks good on that particular shakeyhead. It should be what your looking for.
  6. Tiger bass are a hybrid species of bass, with part being black bass and the other being asain bass, the species is rumored to excel in golf and can often be found cheating on its spouse. Best method of catching them is 9 iron golf club rigged with a white adult film star on the other end. :D : : Sorry guys, I just had to put a reference to Tiger Woods somewhere in this topic since after all it does say "Tiger" bass. ;D
  7. I've found it hard to beat the new Zoom Swimming Fluke lately. Pearl and Disco Violet are slaying them and the baits last a long time. They are the most durable swimbait I've ever seen.
  8. winner winner chicken dinner....this is exactly what i throw
  9. They work well on beddin fish. *** has two new colors in the Squirrel Tail Worm....Eazy Money and Sexy Shad
  10. Anyone fish Lake Hartwell in the last few weeks. Thinking about going there this friday. I was looking for some sort of clue as what the fish have been doing, whether they are still deep or if there up shallow cruising the bank and sunning themselves. Any help would be appreciated.
  11. Heck Yeah Go C0CKS! I got them online but I have seen them in stores before too. Out BPS doesn't carry them for some Reason??? You probably can find them at like a Sportsman Warehouse Glad to see some Gamecock Pride. I've been using this shakeyhead for a while and they work great for big worms. I have always used a trick worm and a zoom magnum shakeyhead worm with them. I remember the first day I took them to Lake Murray I had a 20lb limit using them. *** carries them and so does Dicks Sporting Goods. I actually stocked up on the ones I got when a local tackle store had them for 3.79 a pack.
  12. You must have bought them all because they was all gone when I went today.
  13. Where did you find them for $8 at? I have big plans for mine at Clarks Hill and Lake Murray come may.
  14. Don't forget to use the 10% off promo discount code before you place ypur order. I'd encourage you to buy some Jackall Flick Shake worms and hooks. I also second the Big Bite Bait Kriet Tail worms.
  15. The Strike King XS1 in that color is deadly during the summer.
  16. Last I heard from some boys last week was that the fish weren't biting good at all. I heard a black finesse worm or some sort of brush hog on a shakeyhead was the way to go.
  17. So what you are saying is that they work well at Clarks Hill. ;D ;D ;D
  18. Has anyone used the Spro McStick jerkbait. They look pretty nice and they kind of resemble the appearance of a Megabass Ito Vision 110. Any opinion?
  19. I second this. I own one and fish will crush it in clear water.
  20. This is from South Carolina. Me and a buddy were fishing a small state-run lake and on our way to the ramp one afternoon we were flagged down by two game wardens on the bank. On our way over there, we recognize who they were. One of them is a good buddy of ours, who happens to be a neighbor of mine, while the other is a peckerhead with an attitude problem. Well the good game warden knew our boat and lisc. would all check out and be in order, but the peckerhead wanted to check us, so we obliged. Well everything was in order until he asked for our whistle. In SC, every boat must have a boat horn or a whistle. Our whistle was stuck between the the side of the boat and another piece of metal on the boat. He said if we couldnt produce an accessible whistle then we could get fined. After that my buddy nonchallantly put his lips together and started whistling. Me and the nicer game warden almost keeled over from laughing so hard. The peckerhead warden went and sat in the truck after that, while we chatted with the nicer game warden. It still brings a smile to my face everytime I think about it.
