  1. Thanks for the info, really appreciate it. Thanks,
  2. I have searched the forum and can't seem to find an answer on a couple questions I have. 1st: What is the difference between the Brake Collars in red and gray? 2nd: When adjusting the brake collars do I need to adjust them in pairs or can I adjust them individually? Just moved to the Citica 201D from a BPS Rick Clunn BC and all I can say is once you go Shimano you will never go back. ;D Thanks,
  3. Wow, I just exchanged my BPS Rick Clunn BC for similar reasons. Not retrieving smoothly anymore and the braking system was not working smoothly. I had no problems exchanging it for a Shimano Citica that was on-sale for the same price as the BPS one. Actually the Shimano was $0.24 cheaper. They even did the exchange even though the reel came as a combo. I have never had any problems with our BPS here. At least you got the problem resolved, that is the important thing. But man do I hate having to argue over something so cut and dry as what you had to do. Later,
  4. BPS Rick Clunn Signature Series 6' 6" MH fast Action rod with Rick Clunn Signature Series Bait Caster. Using Power Pro 50lbs braided moss green line with BPS 4/0 offset worm hook and a 5" trick stick craw orange swirl. First actual cast with it as well. Later,
  5. I can really agree with #8, boy can I. Later,
  6. Good info, answered some of the questions I had. Thanks,
  7. I am right handed and I use a left handed bait caster. Cast with the right and retrieve with the left. Rod never switches hands. The same with my spinning reel. Just does not feel comfortable switching hands. Later,
  8. Very nice. And remember as my uncle once told me boats are suppose to get wet, so whats the rain going to hurt. Later,
  9. None in the KC area. Has to be at least one around here, doesn't there? Later,
  10. With all of the different brand frogs which ones work really good and which ones don't? Or do they all work similarly well? I also fish a couple different ponds that are covered with moss and lily pads. Thanks,
  11. I just got a Citica on-sale at BPs and all I can say is wow, what a difference between this reel and BPS Rick Clunn edition. It is an awesome reel especially at the close out price right now. Later,
  12. I use either the uni knot or double uni knot and have had no problems. I am also using mono and braided line. I also hear lots of people using the palomar knot, but have never tried it. Later,
  13. I would use either Power Pro or Suffix. These seem to be the two most popular. Power Pro also comes with compression tape to help mount the line to your reel better as well as the Ez-spool box, very nice feature. Later,
  14. I was just curious as to who made what. I know in the RC car and plane industry there is lots of stuff that is just repackaged with a different box and label. Thanks for all the replies,
  15. Does anyone know who actually makes the BPS brand of rods and reels? I read somewhere that the Rick Clunn BC might be made by Pflueger, any truth to this or just internet rumors? Thanks,
  16. I mainly fish ponds here in MO as well and I am having lot of luck with the 5" *** in craw orange swirl and have had some good luck with Mepps spinners. Later,
  17. Thanks for the info. I am going to start doing this as well. Sometimes it is a pain to get the barb out. Thanks,
  18. I just switched my spinning reel over to braided and I am using Power Pro. It comes with compression tape witch is one of the methods Power pro recommends you use. Later,
  19. Braided line is a lot more durable and also suppose to be a lot more sensitive. Have yet to really see it myself, but I am also fairly new at this and I am just trying it out as well. As far as line lbs, it is usually marked on the box. For example: 50lbs braided = 12lbs mono 40lbs braided = 10lbs mono 30lbs braided = 8lbs mono etc... Hope that helps,
  20. What about the BPS Rick Clunn signature series bait caster? I have this and it seems to be a really good reel. Later,
  21. Any reason why you like the Suffix better? Later,
  22. Power Pro line comes with what they call compression tape. Put 1 piece on the spool and then tie your line on and reel it up. Its on page 21 of the book that is attached to the back of the box with the tape. Later,
  23. I really like the uni knot, especially when doubled up. I have yet to try the palomar knot but am going to try it out. Looks a lot easier to tie. Later,
  24. I mainly use the BPS version of the offset hook. Sizes 3 and 4 extra wide gap. Have wanted to try the Gamakatsu brand but haven't yet. Reason being you get a lot more for your money with the BPs brand. Do the color of the hooks really make that much difference? Also I saw where one guy mentioned that he flattens out the barb on his hooks to make it easier to get it out of the fish. Is this a good or bad idea? Thanks,
  25. I do both. I will release really good size fish and keep a few of the smaller fish just to try and help thin them out. As one person stated selective harvest. We do it with deer and a lot of other animals, so that the populations stay healthy. Later,
