The 2010 Premier is by far a superior reel in every category. I have both and have fished both extensively. The Premier just excels at everything much better then the Curado. Casting light baits, smoothness, drag, etc... and the dual braking system on the Premier is just superb. Later,

I bought a Soron STX last year to try out and it performed extremely well. I had no problems with the reel, the retrieve is smooth and the drag is smooth and powerful. It just will come down to personal preference, there are a lot of spinning reels in this price range that are all excellent reels. Later,

I agree watching videos is ok for a starting point, but to learn a technique there is no better way to learn then by trying it out and finding what you like and works for you. For me personally I like to use spinning gear, 6' 8" M/XF rod with a 2500 style spinning reel. I like to use the Owner Phantom tube hooks and I like Yum and Strike King tubes and use a variety of colors. For fishing them, you can hop them drag them, flip them, swim them etc... Whatever style you want to try, I have found them to be very effective. Later,

I have used Power Pro, Suffix, Fireline Braid and Daiwa Samurai braid. In my opinion the Samurai braid is the best braid I have tried. Waiting till the water thaws so I can try the new Suffix 832 braid. Later,

I would go with the CRSX68M unless you are going to fish deeper water then I would go with something with a MH power and try and stay with a XF action. The CRS66MH or CRS70MH would work alright also. If your open to other rod manufactures there are some other nice rods for this application out there, unfortunately most of them are going to be split grip.
