Pistol Holster (concealed)
I just purchased one that was recommended to me by a couple police officer family members. I won't get it for a couple more weeks. My specific gun was tough to find a holster for because of the layout of the safety on it. Anyway their site was http://shop.alessigunholsters.com/ I got their talon plus model for my S&W. One thing i was told by anyone who carries a lot was not to skimp on the holster.

I told him to come pick it up.
Well if you get the $250 for it...i may have some boat cleaning to do. LOL.

Tracker PT 175 TXW vs Lowe ST170
Good to know! What motor do you have on it? My 175 has a 60 on it and I would never go lower than that. With just me (200lbs), I can get it to about 45 mph WOT and proper trim. Add an average 160-180 lbs person and It goes down to 38 ish

carry firearms while fishing?
thats a crazy story fluke! Wow....that is definitely gutsy. I mean to say that out loud. They really did not even care one bit about alerting you. Just messed up. Honestly that is the type of situation that scares me. IF the dude whips out a gun or knife or charges me well it is cut and dry. Now you got 2 kids, possibly minors, acting like that. You could pull out the gun like you did and have it work out. You could get those 2 kids to call the cops, claim you were threatening them, and it would be a you said, they said type of situation with 2 minors and an armed older gentleman. Depending on the Sheriff could go either way.

Indiannapolis schoolbus drivers........... unbelievable
Well part of the reaosn they have to close, is because of the rules governing attendance. I used to take opening day off every year in high school. It was no big deal, my grades were good, I made up the work... no biggie just like real life. Now my daughter...she is in 2nd grade. She has straight A's a college reading level (according to our state tests) and has been evaluated for advanced placement in math, reading, and science. I want to take her to our nations capital with me for 3 days (a real educational experience), and if I do, the principal will report it to DSS and I may get grief from them. Not the rant on my own garbage but IF they follow this logic in Indy or where they take off for hunting opening day, then there would be a serious S***storm over this from the parents. Now to the Indy bus drivers, IMO, that is bad. Man up, and get to work. I do it, and most people do it. if you can, then take the day off, if not, be responsible and stay sober enough to get to work the next day. Just my opinion. Which does not make a hill of beans in Indy, lol.

How many "warm" days to get them biting again?
I would guess it depends a lot on the body of water(depth, total size, how its fed, amount of sun, etc).

Tracker PT 175 TXW vs Lowe ST170
If I had to guess on lowering HP, they may have been trying to keep their price lower for competitions sake. BPS does the same thing with Trackers. They will dump a PT 175TWX on the floor with a 40 on it and have a much lower price tag to hook you. I know Lowes is definitely superior in their boats, but you also have to pay for it. Sometimes even though the Lexus would be nice to have, you have to settle for the Chevy (still a good vehicle just not as well built)

x2, Im moving south after the Kiddo graduates high school! Well you will really appreciate it for the freedom and the Year round fishing. I grew up WNY, right on the shores of the Niagara River. My home lake has not frozen at all in the 10 years I have been here. I fish every month of the year. Got a special appreciation for it after growing up in the great white north.

fishing really muddy cold water
yeah just in time for the next round of storms Friday and Saturday, lol. I am glad to hear it is clearing up a little bit. I usually launch out of South Point and it clears quickly usually. Hopefully I will be out there again soon.

Tracker PT 175 TXW vs Lowe ST170
yeah just curious. It pretty much goes to what you can afford. I mean I would love to have been able to double the price of my boat and get something sweeter (not sarcasm, I would really have loved to). So I took what I could get which was still IMO, a nice boat, especially for the money. From what I have seen Lowes are better boats, but that being said, i have seen a LOT of old trackers on the water too. They make a decent boat for the money (IMO). I would imagine your buds would be equally challenged by any new boat be it Lowes, Mako, or whatever. You have to be licensed to deal with warranties and they are a PITA I am sure.

10' jon boat and lots of free time
Also...do NOT use any pressure treated wood. It will not react nice with your hull...

carry firearms while fishing?
..and really at the roadshow you may not have that many. Depends on the states. NC has a number of states who recognize our permits so we recognize theirs. IF any state you go through for the roadshow does not recognize your states permit, it would be illegal to carry.

Trout trip
Good luck! I love hitting the NC mountains for some trout in the spring and fall. It is awesome up there.

Worst time hooking yourself
Never!! First of all it is illegal in NC and my wife would not put up with that nonsense. Seriously though, got myself in the leg with a crankbait (not bad though), and the closest to a hospital trip for me was after I nailed a 6lber. I was being stupid and had a good deal of line tension while I was pulling a deepset hook out with a pair of needlenose. The hook came free, the tension pulled it out of the needlenose and it promptly found a new home in my hand. Luckily it went at a shallow enough angle that it just was a simple flesh wound and I could remove myself.

carry firearms while fishing?
I understand some folks apprehension but you got to consider. IF you are fishing with a responsible person, I personally would feel more comfortable knowing he is carrying. I guess a show of how discreet and responsible a lot of guys are, you have not noticed before. I mean for me, the gun does NOT under any circumstances come out of the holster except as an absolute last resort and then ONLY to protect life. I love my boat, really I do but I would value even a thugs life higher than my boat so I would never shoot someone for property. Now come after me, my buds, or my family, or heck an innocent bystander, I will step up and protect their lives over the thug at that point.

carry firearms while fishing?
Depends on your state. In NC, once I purchase I can carry unconcealed at my leisure but I have to get a permit for concealed carry. Some states allow concealed some don't all limit is some way even with a permit.

x2 it is not nice, you NEED marine carpet. Lowes sells it around here. It is different. This may be a "duh" comment but, I would also recommend you get some plywood on the floor and attach the carpet to that. If you get creative, you can make it removable, to if you get a particularly wet day, you can easily remove it and dry it out. Another pierce of advice, cover every part of aluminum bench you can with carpet. My first year on mine, I did not do that. The blistering on the back of my legs was legendary (granted I was in NC and it was 90+ every day), I burned the crap out of myself. So my question would be, how far you want to take it? I did mine up with nice carpet, pulled 40ft of wiring to give me a fish finder, nav lights, TM, bilge pump, even a plug for a radio. It was fun but very labor intensive and probably a few hundred dollars when all was said and done (I did it in phases over time).

Tracker PT 175 TXW vs Lowe ST170
After working at a auto dealership in my early years, I have no idea why anyone wants to work with any warranty work. LOL. It was a headache to be sure and if we were not a dealer selling them we never would have considered jumping through the hoops we had to jump through. I can understand their reluctance to deal with Tracker hulls and non motor related items. I would expect a Tracker dealer to be the guy for that. However, Mercury is such a huge name in OB's out there, seems like it would be very limiting to not work on them. To confirm, with my tracker the Motor was a totally separate warranty. I sent the tracker card to Tracker, the warranty for the motor went right to Mercury. Are you talking just the warranty work on the Mercury? or just any work warranty or not?

Tracker PT 175 TXW vs Lowe ST170
curious, what is it in the boat they won't touch? At least the new ones have a Mercury brand motor in them. Near me, there are not many aluminum boat shops anyways so i would be going to a dealing for anything hull or deck related anyway.

advice on this (my first) jon boat
lol. It is tough to walk away. I know. You are just itching to get a boat and get out on the water. Sort of like picking out a woman though, whatever one you pick you are gonna spend a lot of time with her, and she is gonna cost you a LOT of money so make sure she is worth it. LOL.

i pod while fishing?
...and really don't take my comments as nobody has the right to make any noise. The lake is there for everyone to enjoy and not for my own personal comfort. But to that end (usually ski boats, but some bass boats) I think it is equally unfair for 1 person to pull volume up to such a level that every boat on the lake and every house on the lake has to suffer on their account. But a full day on the lake, during the summer I will got days 5am to 9pm or later, can be long and there are times I would fully enjoy some tunes if I had them out there. Sometimes, like at work, they may even help me focus if I am really working an area.

i pod while fishing?
If you do, PLEASE use headphones. Maybe I am a snob but i get peeved when I get out on the lake, nice and quiet, maybe the sound of a passing boat motor, or something that belongs on a lake. Then some frikkin' yahoo comes tearing through with the heavy bass cranked up so loud that you can hear it 2 states away, turning the entire lake into his own personal rock concert. I mean its not a library out there but jeese. sorry...a bit of a rant. I see nothing wrong with enjoying some tunes as long as everyone else does not have to enjoy them with you, lol.

carry firearms while fishing?
yeah, it is not really kids. it is a mix of adults. I do try to be friendly with them but a couple times...I got a very weird vibe from them. I have also had a couple minor confrontations as they illegally set up half a dozen rods on the dock and walk away from them. One night when I sprung a leak, I came in and ended up running over their lines to ge my boat out of the water ASAP before it sank. I really think the majority of them are decent enough folks, or at least pretty much interested in doing their own thing and not being bothered, but there are a few of them that will walk around almost sizing you up. One of the times in question, I had 1 guy come right up to me asking me about my boat he would pick up the rate and pace of his questions as I scanned around at his bud who was making attempts to walk out of my line of sight. Definitely distracting me for some reason, whether to allow his bud to pull something out of my boat or to jump me, don't know. I kept asking his bud questions and pretty much let him know he was not getting out of my sight. Made record time getting the boat off the ramp that day. There have been a couple instances like that to date and I have been able to keep my head and get out fine. However, had either of those guys planned it out better, or been a bit more aggressive, I may not have gotten out scott free. I definitely do not take the thought of pulling a firearm lightly and am far from the cowboy archetype. To me It is more like my life vest or fire extinguisher. I am glad I have them, I just hope to God i never have to use them. I guess for the most part...I pretty much made up my mind on carrying. Just wanted to more or less see if I am just a paranoid freak, or if like I suspect, there are a lot more armed fisherman out there than I realize. After a stint at a gun board recently, I have found my peeps on BR a bit more balanced when it comes to carrying and use of firearms.
