  1. Nice fish, I would not be upset to catch one that size down here.
  2. You can come to Gastonia, NC and video tape me, them just tell them to do the exact opposite. LOL. I have seen some real cool videos on YouTube for know tying. The best I have seen they used VERY large line (like anchor line) and a LARGE hook. They were able show very clearly how to do the knots. I think especially with seniors that would be VERY helpful.
  3. Hey fuzzy...welcome on board. Take is from a WNY transplant, to the folks down here, you talk funny. LOL.
  4. Wow..those are some seriously sad pictures. With the size of the fish killed, it will take years for that to recover if at all. These folks managing this system are flat out incompetent. The articles I read about it, really make it sound much smaller a kill than that. I am sorry to see that. If that happened to Wylie, I think I would go postal.
  5. hijack away Joshua. LOL. Really this looks like a javascripting error more than anything. The page is really just HTML with some client site Javascript to manage page validation and submission. IE being IE it is acting a bit differently in terms of the anchor tag than say, every other browsers I looked at the site through. Go figure.
  6. This sucks but I have to say, it is awesome that you can be there for him. I always hold to the idea that any man can have a kids, it takes a real man to raise them and twice the man to step in and raise a child he has no legal obligation to.
  7. Sorry dude...you made me look and it was freacking obvious. You have an Anchor tag ("A") around your opt in button. So it is submitting the form which fails then the link on the button is getting activated and the click for THAT is firing. Try removing the hyperlink from your button.
  8. Looking at the source on that form (as an aside, you may want to think about putting the javascript in an include instead of directly in the form) and the issues you describe I would bet that javascript is functioning differently on those browsers. I did a quick google on the onsubmit action, those browsers are not correctly reacting to the false being returned. To verify this, try pushing an alert statement into the form validator at various points to verify that 'false' is actually being returned. I think though that with the messages you are seeing, that this is the case. I would have to play with that specific browser the issue occurs in. Have you tired it on firefox on a windows box? Also, could you get the specific browser name and version for the mac? I would run a quick test but I live in a pure MS world and do not have access to a mac. FYI, same thing happens on Firefox on a Windows Vista box. It does not manage it correctly there either.
  9. book...book...oh yeah! Those paper thingies everyone used before computers and the internet. I remember. Aren't those heavy? LOL. Kidding...I work with computers all day long and given the choice I like the feel of a book or printed document over the electronic version any day.
  10. Wow!! Turned out real nice BTech. Great job. Good luck in Kentucky.
  11. Last summer I managed to get out one morning (thanks to flex hours), and went out from 6 am to 9 am with my grandfather. We owned the lake. Didn't catch anything but small white bass, bream, and huge catfish. I can honestly say though that day fishing with him, was the best in recent memory. The lake was flat like a sheet of glass, no a sound to be heard, sun coming up over the lake, was everything I like about fishing all rolled up in single morning. Didn't even need the fish (I will of course take 'em though). Got back to work at 10 am, walked around with a smile on my face all day long at work. I definitely cannot have too many of those types of days.
  12. Congrats man!!! Coming from someone who screwed around in HS so much he had to pay his own way (Something my wife still bugs me for as she was her class validictorian), absolutely awesome work man, outstanding job!! If you are going to learn to master any drinking games...2 words, "beer pong". Master that one and you will be good to go. Really though, responsibly enjoy your time. I lived in a dorm that was pretty much every bit as insane as Animal House. Not surprisingly, in real life what happened, only 2 of us (our of 70-ish) did NOT get thrown out as a result of our grades. Of that 2, I was on academic probation (never got below a 3.8 again), and the other guy was going to AA (No joke he really was). It was one of the best times of my life. In my 4 years at school I made more and better friends than any other time in my life to date. Get involved on campus, study hard, and enjoy. You will definitely never forget it.
  13. So, I am actually not being sarcastic. I am working all weekend, which is a good thing because it means I get to pick a day or 2 during this coming week to FISH during the day when everyone else is working. I am soooo totally looking forward to it.
  14. Is this a public URL that you could throw out there? Could be a couple things, from server extensions as ejtaylor mentions, or if the developer tied some type of javascript to the button click event, it could be written in a manner that other browsers just do not support.
  15. Great point Muddy. As a further example, one of my old loves was bowling. I had a solid 180 average. I had an uncle that was a 210 average. He would throw idea after idea at me to get past the 180 point I was at. He had good points but to implement them, I would have had to change my bowling style soo much, it would take me back to being a 140 average for a while till I could get comfortable. I have gotten some awesome tips here. Most of which I have on my wish list to implement. After thrashing on trying too many new things at once. I chilled out and picked one. This year I am focusing adding jigs to my arsenal and learning to fish them effectively. Since I am focusing on one, I am actually making progress here. Before that I was sucking with Jigs, lipless cranks, and a couple top water rigs I have. Just takes time to move everything into the arsenal and actually learn to do it competently.
  16. Happy hunting Brian, throw up some photos when you pick one up!!
  17. Don't they give you gun in texas when you buy a pack of gum? I kid, I love living in a state where the 2nd amendment is pretty well enjoyed.
  18. That's about right in some cases. There are variants depending on the company and position. I worked at companies where I got a "retention" bonus. For my position they usually are tied to revenue brought in. When I hit a certain threshhold, after that I get a percentage of the $$ i bring in. So it is on me to get training and keep my skillset in demand. For some stock/investor it is how well the generate revenue for their company sometimes it is tied to a business unit, sometimes it is like the conventional meaning where it is a profit sharing company wide. Today you need them. Companies to not inspire loyalty to employees anymore. Think MS, they have not become anywhere near unprofitable, but their profits went down and they let 5,000 people go. They have no loyalty to us and as a result now they have to pay for retention and the like cause I have no incentive to help my company who will drop me at the drop of a hat.
  19. Just to clarify the whole bonus situation. These bonuses are not performance based bonuses. They are termed bonuses as they are paid in one lump sum, however, they are actually more like the employee's salary. The corporations rig the employee's salary so that they pay them a small percentage of their salary throughout the year and then pay a large percentage of it in one lump sum (the "bonus"). This is done to provide an incentive for that employee to remain at the company. That's why they call them "retention bonuses". BTW I'm not arguing whether or not those people should have received their bonus, I'm just trying to clarify the situation a bit because the news reporting has been pretty bad about the whole thing. Thxs, i dint really know much about the bonus situation. I hope everything turns out okay. Scorcher, always good to ask as you did. As long as folks can remain civil and debate the facts even if we totally disagree, everyone gains from the experience. Nobody on this board knows everything and none of us are always right. The way I look at it, if I walk away from a discussion with more information I went into it with, it is a win/win no matter the outcome. Have a good one!
  20. I have seen similar topics to this none that hit is exactly. How is smallmouth fishing near Charlotte, NC? Anyone here fish that area for small mouth?
  21. yes they do, just went out and ordered one for my MK TM. If you got a MK motor just google MKA-41 for the official MK one. There are probably a ton out there that work as well cheaper but it was $18 from Walmart so I went for it.
  22. Definitely go motor lock. I can take the OB off my boat in < a minute when the lock is not on. That could be the time you are paying for gas in the station. Walking back from parking at the ramp. The time you go in your house with the garage door open, etc. They do not cost that much and provide a good chunk of protection. Speaking of that....I need to come up with one for my transom mount TM.
  23. I vote for Colbert.
  24. done replied to NHfroggin's topic in Everything Else
To add to that FarmPond, I think those who have gotten themselves into a nasty fix debt-wise should chill out now. Close out some of their debt. Get to a livable position with cash in the bank to support themselves for a few months should they lose their job. Make adjustments to their standard of living if necessary. Once you have that position though, do not be afraid to spend. Folks just have to be careful to not get themselves into a bad position with consumer debt. We, as a society, have been real bad about that in recent years and we need to just budget and be careful.
