Another thought as well guys. If you think a moderator has started one of the types of threads mentioned above, or if you have an issue with them deleting on of yours, IMO, the best way to handle it, write Glenn a PM and manage the discussion that way. Throwing such discussions out in an open forum can sometimes give a moderator the feeling you are calling him/her out or challenging their authority. I have had a couple threads deleted and I just write it off to the mods erring on the side of caution in trying to keep the boards clean and free from flame wars which can totally poison a board. The "everything else" topics on message boards are typically the most difficult to manage as they are the most likely to break into flame wars. Just coming from someone who has managed forums on other sites in the past...
  2. LOL. Don't take it personal, they are only insinuating that you may be human. I have made some incredibly "interesting" mistakes in my life and I am still young enough to probably make a lot more. When I was moding my Jon, I bought a switch panel from BPS, brought it back hooked it up and nothing would work, went back, read the manual, according to the WORDS it was hooked up right. Then I carefully looked into the schematic on it in the appendix. They had messed up, there were black wires where the reds should have been and visa versa, so cringing, I hooked the red from my boats electrical to the black on the panel and black from the boat to the red. Worked like a charm ever since. LOL. Glad you got it figured out. I have a new Endura 50lb that is waiting for its maiden voyage this or next week (depending on when the circuit breaker for it gets in from Minn Kota). I hope it has some better wiring than yours. LOL.
  3. Although, I have had days at work where I am not so sure intelligent life exists even here. LOL.
  4. Well with such artistry, I am sure the sketch made a mint. LOL! I do have to say though, if news is slow enough that THIS made the news....it may not be such a bad place to live.
  5. I saw this last year. The video is just entertaining. People really kill me
  6. Yeah I was reading this today. I do not think it has any chance of passing. If it does, i would urge each and every one of Americas wounded soldiers to sue the US. If I get hurt at my job, I can do this. I would say US military fighting overseas is a dangerous job. I would also argue lack of proper backup, anti-mine vehicles, proper equipment, etc etc could be used as negligence on part of the US contributing to their injury. I would hate to have it go there but had someone told me that a US president would ever consider such a thing, I would have told them they were smoking crack. Now, here i read it. I am only hoping this is a statement taken out of context by a reporter (like they ever do that) and not a real initiative he is going to try. It just seems too much like political suicide to even think about attempting it.

Other than what I do, something that let me fish 5 days a week 12 hours a day, and paid me what I get now. That would rock
  8. I wade NC mountain streams with live crickets, they hit those things all day long. Absolutely my favorite type of fishing around. They hit those crickets hard.
  9. I am with you there. Seriously, I have to laugh at myself. I see this and am totally outraged. If any of my 4 girls did anything like this, they would be wanting the police the catch them instead of me. That being said, when was 14-18 I was so totally out of control. The stuff I pulled, a lot of which I am not to proud of, could have and should have killed me or someone else. I had a total disregard for the potential for injury or death. Not because I did not care but because I was immortal. I never really thought about the possible repercussion of my actions. I had an uncle that died when he was 18, jumping off Indian Falls in NY. On his way up, he slipped fell, hit his head and died. That is the main source of my outrage, these kids could have killed themselves or others. That and the society we live in, they would have sued BPS and WON millions for getting hurt doing something illegal in the first place. <CRACK!!!> alright broke the soap box (knew I should not have had that large lunch), have a good one everyone.
  10. I think a good deal of it is adults. We get ourselves so busy. I LOVE going out with 1 of my girls (be more than one next spring when I get a bigger boat). I constantly ask folks to come along, but it is always the same thing, too busy, other stuff. Some of them i cannot blame, I have some friends who have to work extra to house/clothe/feed their fam and that comes first. I do know more than a few who just do not want the bother. They have to grab their stuff, launch the boat, cleanup afterwards, etc. We need do unbusify ourselves more. Slow down when we can and savor the time. Fishing with my girls is one of the best one on one times I get with them. I absolutely treasure it. So there are multiple levels of good there.
  11. Hey before i got my jon boat, I would have LOVED to take that thing out. Given the utter lack of shore access in NC, I was really needing to get out on the water. Course, got to wonder how well it would stand up to the punk who runs full out close to him in an attempt to sink 'em

Yeah I like the congressman's idea. LOL. To be honest though, I do feel real bad for the "normal" folks. The folks who work day in day out, do their jobs, while having no say in how the company is run. Then they get shafted. There are already too many people hurting and needing a job. It is sad, but the company you can truly be loyal to, is a rare find nowadays. I tend to be a very good employee, loyal to employer and I have gotten shafted on that more times than I can count. Seems only the smaller companies I have worked for really appreciate the value of a good employee anymore.

Public money aside (said while pushing large chip off shoulder) Seems to me the issue with the bonuses is that upper upper management allows these contracts to be written in a way that these guys could fail miserably at their jobs and still earn a bonus. Personally, if I was a shareholder I would be voting every single board member off that board. What incentive do I have to work hard (which is what bonuses are for), if I can fail miserably at my job and still earn one? This comes from someone who makes monthly bonuses, but in order to do so, I have to show a strong revenue stream. In short, my company has to make a good buck off me first. To me the failure happened before the bailout ever happened. How do you right an employment contract and hand out performance bonuses when there is no performance? I am shocked and partially jealous here. AIG had to hand them out because of the contracts they wrote these guys, but IMO, the folks in charge of approving those contracts need to be relieved of their positions ASAP.
  14. Alright. Yeah it was before our 70-80 degree days. Keeping in mind we are getting over 4 days of rain and gloom, it may be back down a bit. Good luck on you tourney, shot us some photos if you can.
  15. I have not been out there for 3 weeks but at that time I was pulling the bass out of water dept about 10 ft. My fish finder at water temp at about 51 degrees give or take a degree at that time in those areas. Course that is in my section (near the allen steam station launch). Where is your tournament at on Wylie?
  16. 1. Find the thread in here on Ramp rules and have him learn them. 2. If he will, push him towards taking the Coast Guard boating class. It teaches you stuff which can save your life. There are too many people out on the water that know absolutely nothing about the rules on the water. 3. Life jackets: - Bright sunny day, lake life glass, he is cruising at full throttle, suddenly he hits a 4x10 beam that was floating just beneath the surface. I have seen these in Lake Wylie before, did not hit them but by the grace of God and had I, I would have been in the water before I knew I hit anything. - There was a topic on here not long ago where to guys hit a submerged stump and were throw from their boat and both drowned. I could fill this thing up with stories. Point is, you wear the jacket for the things you cannot imagine. It is not like the Titanic where he would hit an iceberg then get 2 hours to put his life jacket on. Many times, thing go from "dude this is awesome." to "Holy @^#$%@" so fast you would not have time to think about putting the life jacket on. Keep working on him. You are being a good friend for trying to impress this upon him.
  17. When I go to my mothers pond, so far we keep anything we catch. it is 3 years into the first stocking and the fish man there told us we need to thin the herd a bit. Besides that, I will keep 1 or 2 <4 lb Bass if i get any and most catfish, and panfish. I will kepe them alive in my portable livewell until it is killing time. Can't get any fresher than that.
  18. I have had the 168 in my Jon for about 6 months. It works great, for the price I do not think you can beat it.
  19. Actually, on Lake Wylie you can do that. LOL. I never go out on the lake without a NC and SC state license. As twisted as that lake is, it can be really easy to cross a state line without realizing it.
  20. Custom build your own. You can make it look a lot better than a standard carport and build it to fit your rig like a glove. Just check your local building codes on what you can do. Some areas even those carports have setback restrictions.
  21. I would say just about anywhere in the SE. I am in the CLT region, we got a mess of good lakes on the Catawba chain. If they get boring I-85 and I-77 take you to some of the best lakes on this coast in <4 hrs drive. 3 hours to the coast (deep sea), 2 hours to the mountains (Mountain trout). Just so many places to go. Not as hot as Texas or FL but like then our lakes don't freeze. We fish 12 months a year and with the season change you are always getting challenged. As soon as you got spring nailed, summer comes, then fall, winter and start all over again. We may not break the records for size but just a huge area to hit. I love it.
  22. You start looking for some trout streams up there, shoot me a PM I can help you find a TON of those. I have spent a lot of time in the NC mountains from Linnville Falls to Jefferson, NC
  23. Well to your point, I would say our military guys give far more service to this nation and risk far more than any congressman and they get lifetime coverage along with their salary. As let us not forget convicted felons get medical treatment at the prisons . As a taxpayer, I can't say I would call money spent on treating our men and women in uniform and their immediate families frivolous, or wastefull. IMO, for all they give and sacrifice, it is not too much to ask in return.
  24. I think this will also depend on the thickness of the hull. My tracker (flat bottom) is a good little jon boat but a Lowes, Alumacraft, or some others have thicker hulls and can take more of a beating. The other thing to being sturdy will be the support the boat offers. I will eventually go for a v hull wiht my next one as I want something with soem speed to it (not racing speed but more than I can get out of my tracker 1436).
  25. Was there something local that happened you bring this question on?
