  1. So I finally found my boat last weekend. It's a 1988 Kingfisher 15' bass boat with a 2003 Mercury 90HP two-stroke. The wiring to the front deck was kind of funky when I bought it so I have been working on that over the last couple of days. I have got it almost all set except the front fish finder is still causing me problems. I know it works from putting it on the mount at the console. That will be my next task. Other than that it just needs a good cleaning and it will be ready to go. I am pretty excited as this is my first boat. ;D Sorry for the poor quality pics. I used my cell phone to take the pics inside and the boat is messy from working on it. I will get some better ones when it's cleaned up and outside.
  2. Welcome to the boards! There is tons of info here for people newer to the sport. Good luck with it!
  3. And I thought waiting another couple of weeks for ice out was bad! Welcome to the boards.
  4. Welcome to the boards from a fellow mass fisherman. See you around the boards! ;D

  7. Welcome to the boards!
  8. I think it's a great idea, but like a few others have said offer it along with a regular guide service. I know if you were in my area I would jump on the chance to learn how to interpret what I am seeing on my fish finder and find those "sweet spots". Good luck with it!
  9. I just bought my first boat (pics and post to come soon) but every boat I have been on has had an oar. It really doesn't take up that much space and if both the gas motor and trolling motor dies I would rather paddle with an oar then let it drift or jump off and kick. Good luck with the new boat.
  10. Thanks for the link. This is one of the skills I really need to learn this year. Now if only I could get this ice to melt quicker. :
  11. Sales and account management for a national metal distribution company. Sounds boring but its the people that make the job. Also the benefits are great. Been there for about 8 months and still love going in everyday. Before that I worked installing fire sprinkler systems in new and old buildings. Good job as well but at 23 I knew it wasn't what I was going to do for the rest of my life.
  12. Are there any restrictions on Whitehall reservior like there are on Quabbin? I have been eyeing this place up every time I drive down to visit a friend who lives out there. Thanks.
  13. My brother tried loading his 4 wheeling rig onto his car trailer without locking the hitch onto the ball and BANG! Nice big hole in his tailgate. I bet he won't forget to do that again.
  14. I am right handed and when i bought my first bait caster I figured I should reel with the same hand that I do with spinning tackle. I never really understood why anyone would want to switch mid-cast but it comes down to what is comfortable. I use lefty reels and will never consider changing.
  15. This year I am going to stick to the buzz bait. In the past I feel I have given up on it to quickly. After doing some research about how to throw them and the best conditions to throw them in, I hope to hammer them.
  16. don't know about the clothes monkey but, the bait monkey's other sister, the shoe monkey, is large in this house. x2
  17. Would this apply if your main fishery was a river? How would you approach the spawn in a river system?
  18. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  19. Another NE'er! Welcome. This site is great. See you around the boards.
  20. When i said clean motor I didn't just mean it was shiny. I will have someone that knows what they are looking for taking a look at the boat with me. I will let you guys know how it goes.
  21. Welcome from another MA angler and newer member. What area of the state are you located in? And where is this fishing hole you speak of?
  22. Very nice fish! Talk about setting the bar high for the year!
  23. Thats what I was thinking. If the boat itself is half as clean as that motor appears to be then it seems like a good deal to me, although some of the boats I have gone to look at appeared in good shape in the pics and were far from it when I got there.
