Where Do You Draw The Line With Wind?
I don't have any set limit. It depends on several factors. First, the ramp needs to be sheltered from the wind. I won't launch where the wind is whipping onto the ramp. The next consideration is how much sheltered fishable water there is which is sheltered from the wind. Third, though it could be first is the temperature. Wind and cool/cold temps do not go together in my book. While I don't like fighting the wind with the trolling motor all day, I can tolerate it provided there are also sheltered areas where I can take a break and fish out of the wind.

One More Reason Fishing Is Better Than Golf
Still,..............it could be worse. Look carefully. The crane operator jumps from the rig as the front wheels leave the ground. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=75tvuc-7ydY

Using Marker Buoys
I use them often. Yes, you can maintain your position with GPS, but, it does not provide the quick visual that one or several buoys provide. Small humps of one or two thousand square feet, that rise up from deeper water often provide good fishing. I use them to mark the contours of said humps, or weed beds. I prefer to use the term transitional bottom. That denotes changes in structure or cover. It's easy to cast to a buoy, or between buoys, or in a particular direction. Not so quick to look at a display, and put the boat back on a waypoint or course line. Not for me anyway. Think of it this way. It's very easy to fish a shoreline, casting to docks, rock piles, beds, or patches of lily pads. Do you use the GPS display to fish those, or do you use your eyes? For me, buoys provide a much quicker, precise visual reference than a display on an electronic screen.

My Lower Back
Hey man, there are doctors for things that don't improve in a few days. Your back is nothing to fool around with. It could be a bulging disc, or something else structural. It could be muscular. It could be a part of the nerve tunnel that is too small. There is a reason they immobilize people who may have injuries that threaten the spinal cord. See your primary care physician. Let them evaluate what is going on, and refer you to a specialist based on their observations. Do not fool around with back problems. Do not let anyone "work over" your back. You could end up in a wheelchair. They can replace hips, knees, finger and toe joints. They can even swap out organs. But there isn't a whole lot they can do for spinal nerves once they are damaged.

Mark Trail
This is so exciting I have to double up on my blood pressure meds. And that's just from following the thread, not the comic strip.

Over Due?
I did not know that. Tried it, and you are correct. Thanks

Over Due?
I just now opened a post window, and it opened normally with all the features accessible. Italics, bold, underlined are all working.

Over Due?
Hmmmmmm. The past few days there are times when I post a reply and cannot use any of the edit features above the area where the text is entered. The various features such as add and image, font, size, underline, italics etc., are there, but they are faint, and clicking on them does nothing. At other times, they work just fine. I posted this, then clicked on edit but the features at the top of this box are faint, like a ghost image.

Open Water Reports In Ma
Last year I only ran into it being locked up one time. If I recall correctly, the state locks it when the rowing club, just upstream from the ramp, is having a regatta. It was open after that weekend.

2013 Roadtrip! You're Invited!
'til the official start, but only 44 'til I pull out of the driveway, and 46 'til I wet a line in Pickwick. At least that's the plan.

Buying First Boat, The Small Things?
My 2009 Z-7 was rated for 200 hp according to the plaque with the capacities listed. In 2010, they dropped the maximum hp rating to 150 which is what came on the boat. They also came out with the rapid planing system hull design. It's much quicker getting up on plane than the prior hull design. My 2011 Z-8 is rated for 250 hp. I have a 200 ProXS. For an additional 5000 dollars I could have had them hang a 250 on the transom. To me, the extra eight to ten mph is not worth the additional five grand. It will do 62 mph. Most of the time I'm running it between 35 and 45 mph. For an additional 3000 dollars I could have gotten a 225 hp ProXS. No thank you. I have never wished I had gotten a larger motor.

Buying First Boat, The Small Things?
The Z-6 is rated for a maximum of 115hp. The boat comes standard with a 115 optimax. The only option is a 115 optimax Pro XS.

Shore Fishing Central Mass/rhode Island
While South Watuppa is not one of my favorite ponds, it does have a lot of fishable water from the northern shore. There is a walking/bike path that goes along that shore, and there are plenty of places to fish from. It has plenty of rocky bottom and you can easily cast to six to nine feet of water. I've done best early in the year on Watuppa, and have caught a lot of fish from my boat casting to the rip rap. There are times you can catch plenty of fish, both smallmouth and largemouth. But there are times I cannot buy a bite. Still, in terms of access it's one of the better ponds in this area, and if the fish are biting, you'll have more than a mile of shore from which to fish.

Trilene Knot
How 'bout if you run the tag end of the line back through the eye, then trim it. Another possibility which I have used a couple of times is to use a tiny drop of crazy or super glue to secure the tag end alongside the line.

On A Bass Boat Which Is Better Talon Or Power Pole
I'll give you my personal observation. I have fished on a boat with powerpoles. When they are deployed, and you are fishing the back of the boat, they are out of the way, as far as casting goes. The Talon has a pole which extends from the housing. The housing(s) are always in the vertical position. Having said that, I had no trouble fishing from the back, even with the Powerpoles in the upright position. Having them deployed while fishing from the stern, and trying to sidearm casts under overhanging trees and branches, the Talon could be somewhat of an obstacle. Fishing from the bow, they would not present that problem.

Do Ram Mounts Not Come With Mounting Bolts Or Screws?
They do not come with bolts or screws, at least mine didn't. Some applications would call for screws, some for bolts. What fasteners should come with them, bolts or screws, and what lengths? It's impractical, since they'd have to include a variety of fasteners to cover the various applications. Then you'd end up paying for fasteners you did not need.

2013 Bassmaster Classic Cliff Pace What Do You Think?
Many "celebrities" are two different people, especially in the world of competition. I don't follow the professional tournaments, but I was involved in stock car racing at the local level, and I personally know many drivers who are shy, retiring, polite and courteous until...............they start the engine in their race cars. Then they become an entirely different person. They become aggressive and ruthless, willing to do anything it takes to win, including the classic "wreck their mother to win the race". I've seen it in other sports as well. I see no reason why those involved in competitive fishing, with money on the line should be any different when it comes to being Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

What Are You Looking Forward To?
I'm looking forward to getting back to fishing around here in general. But the thing I'm really looking forward to is the Road Trip. I don't even mind the 800 bucks (guesstimate) it will cost to tow the boat round trip. Based on the last trip to Pickwick, and the current reports, it's a bargain.
