Be sure to protect it from the UV rays of the sun. Keep it in the shade and/or drape a tarp over it. Have no knowledge regarding how to support it when it's being stowed. If you have enough clearance overhead, I'd look into some type of a sling or cradle to hoist it as high as possible. Unless the car port has a clear roof, it should protect the kayak from the sun's rays as well as sap from any overhead tree branches.

It may be difficult to find someone from your area who wants to attend, and who will share the same time schedule. Some attendees arrive early, some a day or two after the road trip begins. Your best bet might be to check the list of attendees to find out if any who are attending may be along or convenient to the route you will be taking to get to Pickwick. Most members include their locations in their profiles. Do a member search of those who are attending. You may find there are some along the way that you can hook up with to save some money. You can invite friends to attend, even if they are not members. Talk to your fishing buddies. Maybe one of them would join you. All that would remain would to be sure they had a place to sleep at night, even if it's a folding cart, or a pillow and a blanket for the couch in a cabin.

I like the rainy days, for many of the reasons already stated. Fewer joyriders, jet skis, and yes, even fishermen. I think the rain makes such a commotion, beating on the surface of the water that it muffles all other sounds that might startle or disturb fish, making them wary, or send them scooting away.

Last spring, a buddy and I were fishing around a rocky island. There was a couple of fishermen nearby. Every time one of them made a cast he'd utter a weird grunt, a kind of huhhhh. It got to where we had to move because we laughed every time he did it. He sounded like a cat trying to cough up a hairball.
