  1. I really do believe MegaStrike was the final touch. I have never before been 100 percent sure when it comes to any scent, in fact until this season, and I have been fishing for bass for over 20 years, I was only 50 percent sure at best that adding scent would help. I mean I have had days where adding scent I caught fish, but was it the scent that caused them to strike? On this day I know for sure in my mind, that it was the final factor. They just would not take the frog no matter how I worked it until I added MegaStrike and with that I am 100 percent sold on MegaStrike. Honestly I have never had confidence in any scent they way I do with some lures. line, rod's, reels and so forth and I have tried many many brands of scent over the years. Edge Hot Sauce Gel I did/do have some confidence in, that being that the bass will hit it, but I have never seen anything like this, in fact I have seen followers before and have juiced before under those situations, but I have never seen juicing (as I call it) actually really make that big of a difference until now. It may have helped in the past, but on this day I know it more then just helped. Wow man, you seem pretty pumped. Maybe you should order some more to get your fix. ;D LOL, I am pumped but I already have 3 tubes of the new, 1 tube of the old and one tube of the craw. I think I am good for a while. It's been one of those things where you buy something and it basically gets tried a couple times and then sits in the bottom of the tackle box, but this new formula produced right off the bat a couple months ago so I always keep it handy just in case and now the case will always be on my lures instead of in the tackle box. Thank You.

  3. Fished a club tournament this past weekend on this very clear lake. The weeds where up in some spots but mostly they where about a foot or two under the surface. I was told by many that small baits, Flouro and such was the only way to catch these spooky clear water bass. Well I went outside the norm to place 1st in this tournament. Seeing all those weeds beneath the surface my first though was a Rattle trap but I had this strong urge to toss the Frog. I noticed on a few cast, the bass would come up and check the frog out but just would not hit it. Some in fact would follow it all the way back to the boat, but just would not bite. Since time was not on my side I decided ok, I'll juice the frog with MegaStrike, make a few cast and if that don't work it's on to something else. Well there was nothing else for that MegaStrike made lookers into hookers so to speak. They just hammered it. 18lbs 3oz, 5 fish limit for the win. Thank you Bobby and MegaStrike. I have no doubt in my mine that MegaStrike was the ticket for this tournament and I shall never fish a frog or anything else for that matter, without juicing it with MegaStrike again. BTW second place was 14lbs and some oz's. MegaStrike kicked Bass Booty!
  4. For years I have been throwing the Scum Frog Popper. Even with it's issues of being very light, making it hard to cast, and landing upside down a lot of the time, I could not argue with it's fish producing ways, it flat out produces, and therefor I have dealt with the issues. However, thanks to Spro and Dean Rojas, the Spro Popper is by far my favorite frog I have ever thrown. I have been throwing frogs for years and have tried just about all of them and this new Spro just blows them all away. It cast great even into the wind, walks with ease, is durable and the hook up ratio is outstanding. It be Spro for me!
  5. I spent all of last season and what seems like my life saving looking for the perfect Frog setup but once I got the Powell 735 Frog rod the search was over. Team it with 40 to 65lb braid and a high speed reel and your search will be over. Right now I have 3 frog rods on deck. The Dean Rod, a GL3 844c and this Powell rod. All are good for frogs but I like the action of the Powell the best. The Dean rod, of which the close minded will shoot down, there loss, is an excellent rod for Spro Frogs and Zoom toads also, The 844c is a good all around rod and the Powell just plain has the best action for walking the frog. All 3 can handle just about any frog situation one can encounter.
  6. It's my understanding that Ike was indeed using MegaStrike, however he is sponsored by another company so the reason why the tube was just white.
  7. Quantum get's a lot of hate on these forums, but personally I have used nothing but Quantum reels since the mid 80's and have never had a issue. I vote Energy.
  8. I to have had to many break offs with PP. I now use Stren Super Braid, if i can find it of which is getting harder since they stopped making it, or Stren Sonic Braid. Both are super strong and cast great.
  9. I have never used the Mojo and I have had nothing but bad luck with Fenwick. They don't just break easy, they shatter. Granted I have not owned the HMG so I can't comment on that, but 3 other Fenwicks over the years have all went boom on the hookset and I mean boom into a thousand pieces. You may want to look at Falcon for what your looking for. They have some great carolina rods in all there models.
  10. My personal thoughts on both the GL2 and GL3 is that for a rod in which you use in which sensitivity is not the main concern such as say Crankbaits, Topwaters, Frogs and such, these rods fit the bill just fine, in fact for frog fishing I have found the GL3 can take the hard hook sets with braided line a bit better then the IMX and with Crankbaits the GL3 has a little more give to help in not pulling the hooks out of the fishes mouth. (However you can find a IMX model that does Cranks well to) For sensitivity, like worm & jig fishing for example, IMX is hands down the better choice. However, I am not sure what the GL2 cost, but there are cheaper, better rods then the GL3's price range. The Quantum Tour rods for example are every bit as light as a GL3, in fact there almost as light as the IMX, have better guides and are stronger, for up to 100 and some dollars less then the GL3. But you can't beat the G-Loomis warranty and service. Quantum has lifetime to, but it takes a lifetime to get your rod back also. Another example of service is, I had a G-Loomis in which the top guide needed replacing. E-mailed G-Loomis and a few days later I had a package with about 6 top guides. Same thing happened with a Tour rod and Quantum's response was to send the whole rod in. I think not Vern, Not for something that simple that I can fix myself.
  11. War Eagle is a good spinnerbait but try the Original Hildebrandt Okeechobee Special of which War Eagle copied in there own way. I am not saying that in a bad way for the more the marry er, but I do like the skirts and blades on the Hildebrandt better. http://www.eburch.biz/pro4n_okeechobee_special.htm
  12. I purchased my first few packs of Senko's this past weekend to see what all the fuss is about. I was wondering if you all could tell me what size and type hook your using to wacky rig them and any tips on how and where your fishing them would be much appreciated. Thanks.
  13. I started my worm fishing on Culprits, man, must have been 20 years ago, but about 6 years ago I switched over to Charlie Worms and have never looked back.
  14. I have caught a few on the Spro poppers, There really, really good baits, however it will be a million years before they put the number of bass in the boat that the scum frog popper has for me over the years. I have one rod setup with the Spro Popper and one setup with the scum frog popper. The difference really is that with the spro you can cast that thing a mile, it skips better, it walks better once you trim the legs, it always lands upright unlike the Scum Frog, it's easier to place it right where you want it and, although time will only tell, they seem to be built way better then the scum frog and therefor should last longer. However, one can not argue with the fact that the Scum Frog Popper is just one heck of a fish producer. My advise, for whatever it's worth is to pick you up some Spro Poppers, but keep those Scum Frog Poppers tied on also. If on a tight budget, there is absolutely nothing wrong with sticking with the Scum Frog Popper for they will catch just as many bass, if not more then any frog I have ever used. Having both however will cover all the bases and make your frog fishing even more enjoyable. As for colors, I like the rain forest black, midnight and leopard, but oh how I wish they had the Spro in the Natural-Green-Black of the Scum Frog for that is one killer color, the bass just love it.
  15. I have never tried Suffix, but I have to disagree with it being like PP. PP is like fishing with wire IMO, sonic braid is way more limp and easier to manage. I do agree though, nothing is better then what Super Braid was. Stren should be taken out back and beaten for discontinuing Super Braid.
  16. IMO, both the Tour PT and Energy PT are great rods. I am mostly a G-Loomis guy, but I have to say when it comes to pure power and strength, both these Quantum rods kick butt. There both also light weight and very sensitive. I use the Energy PT rods for things like Cranks and Top Waters and the Tour PT for just about anything else. Mixed in with my G-Loomis rods i could not be happier. I'll tell you where these rods really shine is in pure strength. I have set the hook super hard not only into fish, but into stumps and stuff, (When in dought set the hook) and have yet to break one of the Quantum rods. Situations in which the Loomis would break, the Quantum just LOL and keeps on ticking. The Tour especially, is one of my favorite rods, IMO it's very close to Loomis IMX, maybe just a small tad heavier, where talking a 1/2 oz or so here, and maybe just a hair less sensitive (if you can tell the difference more power to you for I really can't), but for sure stronger. In fact every time I use one of these rods I think to myself why the heck did I spent so much on Loomis IMX. The GLX may be a different story, but when compared to IMX, this rod is very close. This is coming from a G-Loomis user of 20 years. It's just my opinion for whatever that's worth.
  17. The more I use it the more I am liking it. At first I must admit I was not to sure on the stuff, I loved Stren Super Braid and had used that for years before Stren discontinued it. Sonic braid is super limp braid, cast great and has good knot strength. However being that its so limp and soft on the spool, I have been a little worried about strength, just in my mind, not in actual fishing so far, so far it's holding up strong. I do wish they would have kept the darker green color of Super Braid, but no biggy really. I have been using the 40lb for jigs and worms, the 50lb for buzz frogs and the 65lb for floating frogs with no issues so far. But I will not be totally convinced until a 4 or 5 pounder wraps me around some timber. Super Braid kicked butt in those situations, so if Sonic can handle it I will be a happy camper. Side note: All's I ever used before was 40lb Super Braid for all my braid needs and it never, not once, let me down. I bought the 50 and 65lb Sonic because I was nervous on Sonics strength, limp and strength have never really gone together before, but the more I use it them more I am thinking I panicked for nothing for the 40lb Sonic is holding up great so far. Like I said though, the real test will be when the fish puts it to the test in the heavy timber.
  18. Can't wait to see these baits. Got my 3 tubes of MegaStrike, actually 5 if you count the old formula and the craw formula, and just ordered up some Cavitrons and now news of a Spinnerbait. Woot!
  19. I have been using Charlie Worms, Worms and Craws for at least 5 years now. Great products. I don't know if the scent they come in helps but I do know it does not hurt for I have caught a ton of fish on the worms and use nothing but Charlie craws on my jigs.
  20. Megastrike and Edge Hot Sauce Gel both work great for me.
  21. LOL, I have some Quantum's going on 10 years now and still work as good as new. Contrary to popular belief Quantum makes great rods and reels.
  22. I have been using MegaStrike for about a year now and have always liked it, but today really sealed the deal. I was out fishing the pond and was getting pretty frustrated due to the fact that I had about 6 followers on my Bomber crankbait, but no takers at all. They would swim right up to the bait and turn away at the last minute. I tried different color Bomber's, Jigs, Spinnerbaits and varied retrieves with nothing but followers. Well this was war, so I pulled out the New Formula MegaStrike, of which I have never used scent on cranks before, and no more followers, 4 hook up and landed before I had to get going. Thanks for the great product Bobby!
  23. Most the time its just jerks and twitches for me, but when the wind is blowing and creating some good surface disturbance, one of my most productive ways to fish a devils horse prop bait has been to almost burn it back to the boat. I have had days where this technique on windy days just killed them. Basically if the water is calm I will just twitch it. If there's a little wind I will add some jerks, but if it's really choppy water, I will fish it on straight fast retrieve.
  24. Bobby, I was not in any way trying to start an argument with you or claim I am the know all, in fact I started that post saying with a grain of salt. Also as I stated I believe in what your doing, the way your doing it and so forth. I believe in MegaStrike and the direction you are going with it now and for possible future formulas. You may very well be right, maybe smell has something to do with it at the last couple of seconds before he strikes, but where I am coming from is most companies claims would have you believe the fish come from miles just because there product is on the lure. Look I am not saying Bobby is a nut case and does not know what he's talking about and I am the god of bass fishing, All's I am saying or reporting to you, is my experience's with your product so far of which as far as I am concerned is pretty dam good experiences. What you say about a last second smell before the hit, may very well be true, in fact I can believe that. So if your meaning of attractant is, the bass gets close to the lure or you get your lure close to the bass, be that an inch or a ft and the smell of the lure attracts him to the lure and even attracts him to hit it, now that makes scents. However what other companies claim is not the same for there claims are out of this world and total marketing bologna. They may or may not work for the bass fisherman, but there claims IMO are about as believable as me saying I have 20 playboy bunny's waiting for me in my bedroom right now. LOL, I am going to go check my bedroom right now just in case. LOL
  25. Just my 2 cents, to be taken with a grain of salt. First off IMO I believe we should forget all this talk about scent Attractants for IMO bass are sight feeders first and foremost and anything in the scent market that's says Attractant is nothing more then marketing. Instead we should be focusing on TASTE and to some extent feel, after the fact of sight, the true attractor. With that out of my system, the question then becomes not what bass can smell but what is it that they can taste, what they like to taste and what they will taste and hold onto longer. What taste good to the bass? With this in mind after 20 some years of on the water bass fishing under my belt, after trying every goofy thing in bottle that says Attractant on it or other goofy claims, here is my opinion. Whether or not a bass can smell oil based attractants can be debated forever but if you look at it from purely a taste and feel stand point, even if they can not taste Garlic, Craw or whatever oil, the oily feel of the stuff in a bass's mouth may be enough for the bass to think it's real food even if it can not taste what flavor it is. If its slimy like real bait fish, or in this case oily, he may accept that factor as real enough. However I think with oils he can make up his mind pretty quick to either eat it or spit it out. He may be passive and not taste anything yet eat it, or he may not taste anything and spit it out cause it has no taste or a taste he don't like, if you believe he can taste oil that is. With this focusing on taste, it is my belief that Bobby MegaStrike is on the right path, or has hit the nail on the head, for amino acids are the key for everything a bass eats contains amino acids. The question in my mind is, in what form can a bass actually taste these amino acids. If bobby has truly, of which I believe he has, found a way to use an oil base that releases the water based amino acids, then Mr. Bass is going to be very happy with what he has put in his mouth and therefor hold on much longer, giving the angler more time to set the hook. So there's my opinion for whatever it is worth. All's I can say for sure is that with MegaStrike or Edge Hot Sauce for that matter, the bass that I have caught with the stuff, do hold on longer, in fact I watched a small bass inhale a worm coated in old formula MegaStrike, hold on for a full 2 minutes before I decided to set the hook. It looked like he was chewing on it like bubble gum. Way cool. Will so called attractants add more fish to you day? I don't think so Vern, at least in the 20 some years I have been bass fishing I have yet to see such make a difference in numbers of strikes, but at the same time how can one prove such? Even if you and your partner where fishing the exact same setup, one with scent and the other without, how can you prove the scent worked or if it was the action and location of the lure was the ticket. However I do believe that once you have attracted the bass with your lure and presentation of such lure, after he decides to strike such lure, that if he taste something good and it feels real, he's not going to let go so fast and bass like the taste of MegaStrike and therefor I use it for that reason, not because Bobby says so, not because Bill Dance says use this, not because KVD uses that, I use MegaStrike because it works for me and I believe in the direction MegaStrike has taken as opposed to other companies.
