  1. Warm water + Night fishin = ozark smoke or cortez shad Boogie Baits. IMO
  2. At the end of the day, if youve had more fun with the spinning rig, than youve used the right rig.
  3. 32 inch blue cat on a minnow. fun fish.
  4. 4 great casts, made even sweeter by the stomping I gave my fishin partner that night. The totals came out to like 30 fish for me and like 4 for him. It was AWESOME!
  5. Borrowing a boat is still up in the air, I havnt really been close to my cousin, and Id hate the idea of not talking to him until I need to borrow his boat.... : So I plan on doing some shore stomping.... I wouldnt, however, be opposed to renting a small boat, provided the lake has rentals available. Hows Lake Pleasant these days? I havent lived in Phoenix for about 13 years now, I hear its quite the nightmare.
  6. Hey all, Ill be in the Phoenix area from the 13th-20th, visiting my folks. Id like to get on some spots to get some big-uns, living in Illinois kinda limits the growing season. Any tips would be appriciated. Thanks.
  7. Dang Dwight! Nice smallies. God willing Ill be posting something soon, havin troubles with little fish lately.....
  8. Welcome to the site! We have some fish here that would rival even Nessie herself!
  9. If you write about politics as well as you write about fishing, it should be a great read! :
  10. As you are just starting, I would recomend sticking with the T-Rig, and maybe one or two other techniques for this season. Varients such as jig and plastic combos, or C-Rigs would be good to get to know. Now Im not sayin to comletely ignore things like cranks and spinners, but I believe in learning things in small doses. Get a good feel for one technique, and move on to another. Try these lures in other bodys of water, and pay attention to the details. ie: How do certain lures work on points, as opposed to flats, as opposed to sunken timber etc. It is easy to become overwhelmed in any sport if you try to do to much at one time, and fishing is no exception. Most of all, listen to the guys and gals on this site, as they have ALOT of knowledge to share. Tight lines my friend, and welcome. This is one helluva sport.
  11. I fished sporaticly throughout my childhood, then stopped completely in high school, to interested in partyin' and chasin you know what. Then about eight years ago, I went fishin with a buddy of mine in Massachusetts. From that moment on I was hooked.(pardon the pun) I still made time for the bars and the girls in my early to mid twentys, but since about 4 years ago, fishing has become something of an obsession. Ive settled down in my personal life, finding a good woman can really help a guy in that respect, and now all of the joy in my life comes from my family, and fishing. Im currently blessed to work at a place with a great little private pond so full of bass that they are stunted, nothing over 3 pounds for about the last ten years. :'( However, its fun to catch huge numbers of fish every day after work. (They are attempting to manage the bass numbers with the successful intro of Walleye and Northern Pike) I also fish a few other private ponds, as well as a number of county forest preserves and state parks. I have to say however, that everyday I continue to learn more and more about fishing, and that is one of the things that makes this sport so great. I guess, at the end of the day, what im trying to say, is that im still learning to fish, and will continue to do so as long as I am able. Thank you.
  12. Tequila Sunrise and Red Shad 7" power worms have caught me more fish than any other plastic. I fish them on jigs, c-rigs, and t-rigs, and i just love the darn things.
  13. Just. Friggin. Awesome.
  14. Dude, both those fish are awsome and you are well within your rights to be EXTREMELY proud of them. What do you use for bait, I often times see big carp out here in Illinois, but have no clue about how to fish them. Any advise would be appriciated, as they look like a blast to catch! Keep it up man!
