Main lakes I fish are about 40 min drive. Favorite in my greater area is about an hour ten.

Im REALLY happy with my Carrot Stix, great rod for the money IMHO.

I went out to Fermilab yesterday morning, couple of light hits and saw a bunch of carp rolling around an the surface. Only stayed for about an hour due to the fact I was wearing shorts, and its REALLY overgrown. Just not comfortable. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone out there has had any luck on Law Lake at the lab. Thanks.

once or twice a year, the DNR guys out by my neck of the woods seem to have a pretty good memory. They seem to card me once at the begining of the year, and then ignore me, or just ask whats biting. Good bunch of guys and gals patrolling western dupage.

I dont want to look like a dirtball, but Im certainly not worried about being "fashionable". I like my bps and cabellas brand fishin gear, looks decent, and its cheap. Good footware is, however, extremely important.

I have to agree with crushing the barbs, I started doing this year and its made a world of difference. If you play the fish right, you dont lose any fish, and being strictly catch and release Im not broken hearted by the occasional "escapee".

Throw em, Ive caught fish on cranks that didnt have any business takin those baits.

Im just confident that no matter what, being out on the lake fishing sure as heck beats anything else. Well, darn near anything anyway.

I used to have BPS spool up for me, but have switched to doing it manually, by hand. I feel like I have control, and have had no problems.

"Stinkin' pretty" for a real good day. "The skunks outta the boat" for a day with a few, and "skunked" for the day with zero.

I would REALLY miss it if it was gone.

Just a tip, stick with spinning gear for now, and when you get a better handle on fishing, make the switch to casting gear.

I would say the CTX is alittle noisy, but that dosnt bother me a bit. No other issues with mine, VERY castable with 30# suffix braid.

I believe they pulled the plug on the 8 million after dotty was caught the first time. The price of the insurance skyrocketed Im sure.
